“What- are you okay?” George asked, alarmed. “Did you get in a car wreck?”
“Oh, this?” Sapnap glanced down at his clothes, wincing. “I was just- partying. In the mud. And there was- koolaid. A lot of it.”
The doorway behind Sapnap, which had been left open, suddenly darkened, and a voice George had never heard came from it. “What’s going on?” The words were slurred, and George’s mind went straight to alcohol.
Sapnap bit his lip, looking between George and whoever his guest was. “I’m so sorry man, I totally would have texted if I thought you’d be awake but- this is my friend. Dream. He’s uh- he did a lot of partying tonight.”
or, George starts to see more of Sapnap's mysterious friend after he shows up to their shared apartment one night covered in mud

Summary
“You’re still fidgeting,” George points out sometime later, poking Dream’s shoulder with his finger.
“I know.”
George frowns, considering the problem for a total of three seconds before he plucks Dream’s hand and places it on his lap, enveloping Dream’s palm with two of his own. “There, fixed it. You’re welcome.”
Dream is a bit too stunned to answer, but it does help him settle down. George looks smug every time a commoner looks their way, way too pleased with himself. Once they’re free to go, George laughs and calls himself a genius and bullies a promise out of Dream to bring him in next time his father holds Court, too.
Somehow, the hand-holding becomes a thing. Dream quite likes it, but he never tells George that.

Summary
George has been Dream's best and closest friend for years, and it didn't matter if Dream's feelings went beyond friendship. George seemed to want to be his friend only, so Dream was going to take whatever he was given, as long as his friend was by his side.
Or, the one where George goes through every possible crisis in existence over his friendship with Dream, while Dream quietly and patiently pines over him.
