Chapter Text
Grian froze. He looked in front of him, it was him. Sam walked out of the portal, flashing around his knife. His goddamn knife, still engraved with Yuki’s name and the blood of everyone.
“Well, long time no see Gree-on, how ya been old buddy old pal?” Sam smiled, moving towards Grian.
Grian stared, looking towards his communicator, wondering why no one was responding then remembering the whole sleeping thing that most people do.
“Oh little birdy can’t sing?” Sam chuckled to himself, as he moved faster towards Grian.
Grian stopped and thought, but he couldn’t think. His head was too full for that, the only thing he could think was. ‘Follow what he says and no one gets hurt,’ that's what Grian would always say, what he needed to do.
With Grian’s stunned state, he felt that Sam appeared next to him. “Well green-on, I’ve missed you, you’ve missed me right?” Sam said, sounding actually hurt, saying this as he slowly moved Grian to a wall. So Sam could be in power, just like in High School.
“Missed is a strong word,” Grian mumbled out, looking up towards Sam.
“Oh? Well I thought I would pay a visit to you… everyone else lost touch, if ya know what I mean,” Sam said, flailing his knife around, then bringing it under Grains chin.
“Yeah, I think I know what you mean,” Grian said, taking a small breath, feeling himself grow back into the roles of high school.
“And since ya know, Yuki died, you remember, since you watched, I needed someone, to love, and who better than you, my best bud,” Sam grinned, his evil manipulative grin.
Grian stalled thinking back to the crash, and the clothes, and the threats, and everything else worse… much worse than Sam did. “No, no, no, no…” Grian started to mumble into nothingness.
“I know you may not like it Grian, but I’ve been watching you. That rift was a very nice addition I must say. But I know you haven’t told anyone about me. Not even your sister, which means that I can tell them the truth. The fact that you’ve killed people in a perma-death world, that you watched a girl kill herself and did nothing about it,” Sam said, spitting venom in a calm manner.
“No, no, no… You made me do those things, the killings, and Yuki, she did that to cover her own tracks, You and I both know that,” Grian said, his wings puffing out.
“Well you ate people, remember that? I didn’t make you do that, how would your friends react to that? Or, we can go back to old habits.. If you need more convincing,” Sam said smiling, as he reached down, knife in hand, to grab the end of Grian’s wing.
Grian’s eyes teared up, he didn’t have a defense for that, he then looked around the room for a moment, thinking about his options, he was too tired to fight, and Sam, he couldn’t do anything too bad right? The hermits would find out eventually. Grian was pulled out of his mind, when he felt a feather get tugged.
“Ahh” Grian hissed, “I’ll do whatever, what do you even really want? Just don’t tell anyone and don’t hurt any of my friends”. Grian said in a surprisingly confident tone.
“Now that's what I like to hear Gree-on, well first you have to address me as your boyfriend, as we once were” Sam smiled, “And you have to let me have your communicator, oh! And a book and quill, so I can write all of the details,” Sam smiled, his ears perking.
Grian sighed, looking at his communicator, and looking up at the sun slowly rising. ‘People are gonna start asking questions’ he thought. “Fine” grain huffed, undoing his communicator on his arm, handing it over to Sam. Grian looked for a moment, at his arm under the communicator, the scars…
“Well thanks Gree-on, now give me about a day and we will be all good! Now, bring me to your house, I need someplace to stay right Green-on” Sam said, grabbing Grian’s wrist, pulling him to get Grian to move.
Grian came back to reality, god why this reality. “I can get you out, just give me a few minutes, I’ll get a water bucket and put it at the top so you can swim up, sound good?”
Sam nodded, waving Grian off, still messing with his communicator. Grian sighed and went to find a water bucket.
— With other Hermits —
ZombieCleo: Who’s this Sam guy?
Impulsesv: No idea, and I just flew over spawn, so I have no idea where he is?
Xisumavoid: He’s not a new member, I don’t even know how he is here, I didn't whitelist him.
Docm77: Do we want to go to spawn, meet up and track down this random guy? Seems like the best option.
Xisumavoid: Yes, all hermits go to spawn, we are looking for this random person in the world, we don’t know where they are, or why they're here, so stay alert.

The final few hermits flew down, with the people being online including: Cleo, Xisuma, Impulse, Doc, Scar, Gem, and Grian. Everyone was there except Grian.
“Where's Grian, has anyone heard from him?” Gem asked, looking at her communicator.
“No we haven’t, I say we go and check up on him before we start our search” X said, talking to the rest of the group.
“Sounds good, worth it to check, plus he could just be working, we all know how Grian is” Doc said with a slight chuckle. Many of the other hermits smiled before flying off towards Grian’s base.
— Grian —
Grian is taking Sam back to his base, slowly to make sure he doesn't fall while he messes with his communicator.
As they approached, “Gree-on, the other people on the server are meeting at the spawn and are sending you messages” Sam said, quickly blocking server messages on the communicator.
“They are probably looking for you, let's just hope they don’t come over here” Grian sighs.
“Well if they do come over, you better follow my lead, or I am not afraid to kill you and all your little new friends a hundred times” Sam said, smiling, in a joyous tone, a terrifying tone.
“I think I understand Sam” Grian said, rubbing his eyes, they were wet. Was he crying earlier?
“Well this is my base Sa-” As if on cue, Grian and Sam turned to see six figures flying in the distance.
“Damn it Green-on, now listen to me or else” Sam growled, quickly changing tone to a smile, as he pointed up at Grian’s house.
“Wow this building is amazing, you really are a great buddy” Sam said, as he turned to see the group of people land, beckoning Grian over to his side.
“Grian back away from this guy, we have no idea why he is here” Xisuma said, his hand on the helm of his sword.
“Gree-on, you didn’t tell them about me? Well, I better introduce myself. Hello I’m Sam, I’m one of Gree-on’s oldest friends from highschool, Gree-on brought me here through his little rift thing in the basement, since he missed me, since ya know we dated in highschool, right Gree-on” Sam sailed smiling, turning to face Grian.
“Yeah, this is Sam guys. He’s here from me, so everything is fine” Grian said, falling back into old habits, almost regretting how simply the words leaked out of his mouth.
“Oh” A few of the hermits said, conversing between themselves. None of them knew Grian really swung that way.
“Well you guys can be on your way, Sam wanted to know a little bit about my building, so I’ll talk to you guys in a little,” Grian smiled, rubbing his tired eyes as he waved the hermits off and started to guide Sam.
After a few moments, the hermits kinda shrugged and flew off back to their own ways. Not really conversing about what they just walked into, since it seemed like Grian had it under control.
— — —-
"Well Sam, that was my totally finished base," Grian said, rubbing his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah, I've finished making the communicator changes" Sam smiled, "Now, you can't respond to chat messages without me putting in the special code and your death messages are blocked out!"
Grian felt shivers go through his whole body, "Are you planning on killing me? You know this world has respawns" Grian said, trembling slightly.
"Oh I know Gree-on, that's why I'm gonna kill you in a million ways, well eventually, first I need a room, and some decorations!" Sam said entirely dismissing his earlier threat.
Grian stared, he didn't want to be trapped by Sam. He had been through it enough already for one lifetime, he didn't need another. But the Hermits are smart, they will figure it out eventually, right? He never told anyone, but they all have common sense-
Grian was pulled from his staring by Sam grabbing his wrist and pushing him into the ground. "Gree-on answer me, or I'm gonna have to get real angry" Sam said through his teeth.
"I'll take you shopping Sam, its okay, what do you need?" Grian said, putting his hand up, wings puffing up.
"Now thats more like it, I think I'll need….

It had been about an hour of Grian sitting and staring as Sam did his interior for the room. Remembering everything, wearing the clothes of his dead boyfriend, being pushed against too many walls to count with a knife at your throat, being pushed into the kissing shack as you force plastic down your throat. Looking at body after body… Permadeath, hardcore worlds are the only places with bodies… Why was Grain so unlucky…
"Gree-on I'm done" Sam said, jumping out of his room, holding something.
"Nice Sam.." Grian said absent minded, looking towards him..
"Oh looking at this?" Sam laughed, "I thought since you have to listen to me, then you should wear your clothes Taurtis"
