Chapter Text
You ever had a day where shit just really hit the fan? What am I saying, everyone had a day like that.
Well... I just had one. Now, what happened, you may think? Well, it is time for a little rough flashback.
---
So, it all started when I woke up. Well, not exactly. It was hours later during patrol.
Wait, right, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Peter Jason Parker, aka. Spider-Man. I am a 14-year-old vigilante that spends his days going to senior year of MIT. Yeah, I skipped a few grades.
Anyway, like every night, I suited up, got ready, and then went out. And it was a pretty normal night. I broke up some fights, helped a few kitties out of trees, and faced a few of my rogues. Nothing really way too bad. Yeah, I got hurt a bit when I had to step in front of a few civilians, but it was nothing to really worry about.
No, it all went down after that.
I was already out of suit but still slinking my way through the alleys in search for some electronics or other such things in dumpsters. Yeah, I went dumpster diving. But hey, I often find at least something that I can use. And it started pretty normal.
But at some point, roughly around 3 a.m., my Spider-Sense went haywire. It did not really make much sense at first, but... then it started. I do not know why or how. But all around, small little portals?, wormholes?, black holes?, appeared and began sucking in anything that wasn't bolted to the ground. Including me. Really, I was just happy that no one else was around, as I was strong enough to get myself away, as I wasn't really that close to it.
Until there was one. A mother and her small child. A portal was already sucking them in.
I reacted almost instantly, running and slinging myself towards them in hope of reaching them. And I did, even if just barely. And that barely had a price. I managed to throw them out of range. But I did not manage to escape. And I was sucked in.
It hurt, it hurt so much. It reminded me of Thanos, it reminded me of........ It felt like I was pulled apart. As if my molecules were rejecting each other. I felt my body regenerating damage that did not even happen yet. Felt it trying to regenerate missing parts. My Spider-Sense was blaring like it had never before. I felt myself dying. And I did, maybe, as everything went dark.
Until I woke up. I woke up, and tried to take a breath. But I could not. I was under, something? I do not know. Only that I saw green. It took me a while to realize that this green thing was similar to a sludge. A green sludge or slime.
And seriously. What tf is this damn slime. Why tf is it so hardy (Is that even the right word?)?
And how tf did I keep waking up even after drowning, falling unconscious so often.
I- I remember waking up again and again. The Sludge always being slightly lighter than before. More light reaching my eyes. Until I fell unconscious one last time, woke up again and finally, finally made it out of the sludge. Only to see that I was in a cave. My Spider-Sense blaring at me. And that possibly radioactive slime stuck to me.
I did, after a while, manage to find a way out. Thanks superior night vision.
First I got into a Sewer, but getting out of that was easy. And damn, seems like my luck was really good for once. Cause a Sewer means people. And people means civilization. And yes, outside of the Sewer was a city.
And well, we are now at present time. On top of a building right next to where I crawled out of the Sewer. Having climbed it using the rain pipe.
---
"Now, think, Pete. What did Matt and Nat always say when you find yourself somewhere unknown....
Right, I think it was:
3 hours without air, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food.
Ughhh, I probably look insane talking to myself.
But it is night. And probably no one is around.
But first things first, I have to sleep. I am tired as fuck and everything hurts. Can't do anything when I can't even assess myself on how hurt I am from pain and tiredness. I will just, cram myself somewhere up here into a corner"
---
It took a while for me to actually wake up after waking up.
And well, I certainly did not do myself a favour by sleeping crammed up like this on a hard surface.
But, at least I can say now that I do not have anything way too serious and or life-threatening.
Yes, a few broken bones in my arm, hands, feet, and... a few cracked ribs. As well as probably a shit ton of bruises and so. But luckily no real injury on my face. At least none which I cannot cover up otherwise.
Anyways, I was mulling about a bit on how to go about this. As I never did something exactly like this before. Never this injured, at least.
Anyway, I first have to find a library, or secondly. First I have to get some of that gunk off me. Which is what I have been doing for a while now. And I am mostly finished. Just a bit more and I have everything out that I can get out for now.
"And there it is, finally, mostly rid of that slime. Now I look slightly more presentable."
After climbing down and walking around a bit, avoiding people and some alleyways as my Sense was tingling when I even tried to approach, which sucks, as I can't even ask the way to the library, but hey, at least I now know that I am somewhere that speaks English and somewhere that is seemingly called "Gotham" from the murmurs I heard. Weird, as Gotham is a nickname for NYC, but this is definitely not NYC.
And I so hope that I am actually somewhere close to home. Cause portals and a City I never heard of, especially one that large in an English-speaking country. Well, time travel or Universal displacement is all a possibility now. But, that will take until I get to the library to figure out.
---
As I was musing and thinking about my situation, I managed to find a Subway. And thanks whatever supreme being is out there that it had a map, which included the library.
Now, as any self-respecting New Yorker, I jumped the turnstile and snuck onto the first train to that direction.
It took a while, but I was finally standing in front of the library. And damn, if the rest of the city did not give this city's name justice, then this did. It was huge and just plainly gothic. Gargoyles on the wall and corners.
MJ would have loved this.
As soon as I entered, I made a beeline to the front desk to ask if they have PCs and if yes, then what the password is.
As I approached the desk, I saw that it was manned by a rather good-looking late 20s, about 27 if I were to guess, red-haired woman that was currently occupied with something on her desk.
When I got close enough to get her attention, I noticed a few more things. First, she was in a wheelchair, and secondly, that her name is B. Gordon.
"Umm, Miss Gordon, I am Peter. I want to ask if you guys have Computers and if I could use them?"
The woman was startled when she heard my voice and looked up probably way too fast to be healthy.
This is not right. Why did she gasp as soon as she saw me? I am pretty sure that none of my bigger injuries were on my face, and the rest is covered up.
