The sun was scorching in the mid July air. The rustle of breeze against the foliage of leaves was at least providing a little bit of comfort. Looking at Rin next to him he gave her a smile which she reciprocated back in earnest. But well…looking at Kakashi he gave a scowl at the back of his head holding his tongue out mockingly. Kakashi is walking with Minato sensei infront of Him and Rin.
The guy always has the habit of looking down at everyone around him and deeming them weak and useless. They way his eyes seem to radiate ignorance of his teammates is truly irritating. And Rin…sweet Rin just had to have a crush on this guy. Yes he will admit that hes had a huge crush on her for quite a while but she seems to be oblivious to it all the same.
But, now walking through the land of fire’s border and waiting for a spy from the Hidden Mist village, he wants more than anything that Rin would one day direct that gaze of affection and admiration towards Obito.
They had been assigned a mission from konoha to retrieve an important scroll from the spy informed to meet them here. Sensei had been very happy to know that it was simply a retrieval mission as he still was unsure of sending his genin team to the battlefield. They still had to be careful because the spy may have been followed as he is no jiraiya the toad sage.
Surprisingly after Bakashi’s jounin promotion the little guy had thought that he would be clear to go for the war now but one look from minato sensei and he had stopped complaining. That was probably the first and only time he had seen kakashi being at odds with minato sensei.
Now, they were waiting at this end of a cliff for the last hour and obito really couldn't take it anymore. Even Rin had lied down and started counting clouds while Minato sensei was looking as alert as ever while arranging some food from his storage scrolls. Even Kakashi looked mildly sleepy but alert.
“Sensei…how long till the guy gets here? It's been an hour now, isn't it the middle of the war? Shouldn't he be in a hurry?” he pointed toward the still empty grassland for a while when minato sensei started giggling.
Rin then proceeded to face palm herself when kakashi decided to answer of their behalf.
“ We already have the scroll obito, but we had to still look like we were looking for something because otherwise that would be suspicious. Are you really daft or just stupid?” Kakashi raised an eyebrow at him for emphasis and Obito couldn't help but stomp closer and pull his criss-cross brown vest. And the little gremlin was still looking at him mockingly as if he didn't even need any defence from what obito could do.
Minato sensei immediately separated them and turned to kakashi, “ Kakashi! There was a way better way to explain that than to call your teammate those things”,then he proceeded to round up on obito and gave him a disapproving look,” Look obito, im sorry we couldnt tell you before but the scroll was to be retrieved by the flying raijin method. That is why i was assigned for this mission. You guys came with me so that it may look like we are going through normal genin team missions if anyone were to follow me. I mean who wouldn't go for the scroll if they knew the yellow flash was after it too.”
Obito still couldn't help the hurt from his voice so he shakingly asked,”then why wasn't I informed before?”
“Obito, I-”
Then Rin…sweet Rin, the betrayer decided to cut in,” Obito you really arent known to be subtle, so we decided not to tell you as it would really throw off the enemy if you started acting weird and quiet.”
“But Rin! I-”
“Leave it obito, just come and eat. And besides, I packed your favourite dangos!” Rin said with a smile on her face so bright it almost blinded him, how could he be best friends with someone so considerate and nice. But it still irked him that she didn't tell him anything. Even kakashi had been giving him suspicious glance throughout the mission.
They all gathered and sat down under a tree to eat their food. It was not that elaborate as it was mostly ration bars, onigiri and dango. Miraculously when they were looking toward a pink petal for a while, Kakashi had somehow inhaled all his food without the mask budging.
Huh..shit! He still couldn't catch a look of his face. It must be something really hideous if he keeps it covered all the time. Something like buckteeth or…Fishlips! Pfft. yup that gave him a little bit of satisfaction.
They now ate in comfortable silence with Minato sensei and Rin filling in the silence from time to time.
Suddenly from out of nowhere, a dozen kiri nin dropped down and surrounded them. They were all covered with black armour. Team Minato got into their familiar formation of a diamond as quick as possible. They had all taken taken up their kunai in fighting stance and their sensei had his hiraishin ready to go.
What followed was utter chaos.
Minato sensei was swiftly getting rid of the ninja’s one by one but now the enemy nin had become even more careful to not get a seal stuck to them. Rin was fighting a ninja who had chakra scalpels as weapon. Due to Rin’s lack in height, it seemed the enemy ninja was getting the advantage but she still pushed on with vigour. Kakashi and Obito were trying to fight off three people together. The enemy had supposedly analyzed that keeping bakashi alone and ready to attack without a liability would be detrimental, they are now trying to pull them in with each other so their attacks move closer.
From the sidelines they could hear a wild snear, followed by a humorless laugh, “ Ah, so this is the Yellow Flash of the Hideen Leaf. your death shall be mine!” he slashed a wire towards sensei’s side but then the next second his throat was slashed apart, blood coming out in endless drips.
Minato sensei then turned towards them and hiraishined them all together, taking them all towards the side of the field so they could escape. The kiri ninjas were still confused about their sudden departure.
“I will have to summon the toads to send a message to the village about this ambush. You all please stay close”
“Sensei we could-”
“No kakashi, that's the end of it, I can't teleport us from here if you're not close enough.”
That surely shut kakashi up. Obito for some reason was still feeling giddy due to the fact that Kakashi got scolded. One look from kakashi and obito looked the other way, humming quietly.
His hand was lifted by another pair of hands and healing chakra started to flow through them rapidly. Rin looked contemplative and then with a flair of annoyance said,
“You know, you could actually use some gauze tape or gloves around your hands all the time cause you get them hurt again and again.” She clicked her tongue, a clear show of irritation.
“Ok, Ill use them from now if you say so” Obito offers a smile to Rin as she quickly gets to work wrapping the gauze tape around Obito’s hand. From the corner of his eyes he can see a bright light coming from Minato sensei’s hand. Sensei looks like he was about to do the hiraishin when suddenly the bright light becomes all consuming.The entire scene seems to be filled with white from all angles. He cant make out the outline to bakashi or sensei from here. Rin’s hand seems to be clutching his tightly as she was in the middle of mending to his injuries.
His head feels too heavy and chakra is depleting from him at a fast pace. No, it feels like something is tugging at his chakra forcefully and he can do nothing about it. His body feels like its being warped in all dimensions and there is a feeling that a lot of speed is being maintained. then , abruptly he hits the hard ground which makes him groan in pain. He promptly passed out.

Everything feels like it has been haphazardly placed inside his head. The chakra strain is palpable but it appears that their chakra isn't depleted at all. He can feel the gentle hum of the grass against the breeze and can even feel the grass on his back himself. His head feels like it feel explode if more information is barged in it as of now so he decides to postpone opening his eyes for at least four minutes.
Kushina was going to kill him. She had always stressed on that fact that two time space seals are not meant to be used in the same vicinity. He had used the hiraishin while he was holding that scroll so now this happened. He had made a huge mistake but he had to protect his students. And frankly saying he did not know that it was a space time scroll he was holding.
She will definitely laugh at his face when she gets to know of this and demand twenty cups of ramen. And obviously, who is he to say no to his beautiful red hot habanero. Hehe…he really loves his wife.
But now he really needs to open his eyes because it seems that his hearing is back to normal and the buzzing in his head is gone. He can hear three different voices who he guesses are in the middle of vomiting.
He opens his eyes and is greeted by the setting sun above, there are some stars visible and he can pinpoint the constellations. They are awfully familiar in a way that he immediately gets up and searches for his students. As he predicted they are vomiting the contents of their lunch on the grass near them. All of them look pale faced but otherwise their chakra does not seem to be depleted to dangerous levels.But it still wouldn't hurt to check on them properly.
Minato makes his way towards his students and they turn around as soon as they hear his feet against the grass.
“Alright so please tell me all your chakra is normal” Minato looks over to Kakashi who looks like the one who has got the highest hit during the teleportation. Kakashi looks over to him and starts with a report tone
“ My head was feeling like it would explode but now it is manageable. Although my stomach could not handle the sudden jump, I had to get rid of the food. My chakra levels are normal enough” he says that all with the same mechanical tone he has used since he was five but now the pale skin and droopy eyes with exhaustion make him actually look like the eleven year old he is. He then turns over to Obito and Rin with a questioning look. Obito decides to answer first.
“Sensei, my chakra is ok but I still feel a bit nauseous. What was that jump about?! Did we come back all the way to konoha?” He pointed to the large village on the side of their grass land. Minato is really confused now.” This looks like its konoha but way more advanced. The tall buildings are completely new. And the planning of houses doesn't match up”. Rin walks towards the large crater of a village and then turns to him.” sensei, i have a theory. I think we time travelled, i even saw a train moving around konoha…i dont think we had that back in OUR konoha.” Rin looks back at the village contemplative.
Even Minato had to agree that yes, they definitely time travelled so now they need to ork on getting back to their time.
“Ok so if all your chakras are good to go, then use a henge for disguise. If by chance people from the future notice us and think we are our future selves then things will get tricky. Our objective is to enter the village through the main gate as unassuming civilians and directly report to the hokage of this time.” He takes a deep breadth and levels them all with a serious look. “ It would be most benefactory if nobody know that we are from the past. Only the hokage is to know. Working with them we can figure out a way to go back. Alright?”
They all look really out of it now. Until Minato himself confirmed the crazy theory of time travel of all…turns out they were all keeping their fingers crossed. Rin must have really got some courage to say it outright. She had always been the bravest flower in the lot.
Kakashi is the one to come out of his stupor first.” Sensei for that we will have to have some kind of reason to see the hokage, otherwise the anbu might catch up with the trap”
Minato walks over to Kakashi and ruffles his hair a bit, Kakashi gets annoyed and tries to swat his hand away with no avail.” Good thinking kakashi, we will just tell them that we are there to talk to the hokage about trade. I am sure no hokage would mind some escape time from the everpiling paperwork”. At that Kakashi seems to get the point.
He walks away and pulls his hand up in the sign. And then a big cloud of smoke appears with only a very normal man left behind. He looks terribly plain and only has a green sweater to cover the entire torso, with some black pants and civilian shoes. Kakashi’s henge’s hair is brown and eyes are also dark with a brownish tint. The face is as usual as to not call for attention. Sage knows what would happen if kakashi actually roamed around without a mask outside.
Obito and Rin follow fast and also turn into normal civillians. Obito this time has a ash blonde hair which is almost brown and rin has dark brown hair. Rin is wearing a long green skirt with a red scarf around her shoulders, while obito is wearing black pants and a brown jacket around with a sash around his back. Minato himself also changes into a man with black hair tied into a low ponytail, his face is kind and he is wearing a travellers outfit with mostly black.
“ Alright good! Now lets go. And obito and kakashi…do not fight. We really dont need to draw attention.” this was followed by two different retorts,
“Sensei i dont fight him he just acts like such a-”
“I cannot go down to the dead last’s level, theres no way-”
He let them fight it out for once because this is probably the last time in a long time they will be able to do so. After the fighting was done and rin had facepalmed enough to give herself a smack handprint, they made their way to the main gates.
The main gate didn't look much different but it was obvious that the village had gone through some major changes. It looked way more advanced, almost as advanced as the daimyo’s capital.
On the other side Rin felt like she was in cloud nine. The whole village looked like paradise and oh my sage!? Is that a whole big ass dango shop. Thats the largest dango shop that she has ever seen in her life. Obito would absolutely love that! And oh my is that a dog cafe? Kakashi would love that! He and his ninken could totally hang out there. The more Rin goes into the village she can see all kinds of food. Something called burger? Totally gonna try that here! I mean they freaking TIME TRAVELLED so some binge eating is a must.
Meanwhile Kakashi was quietly surveying the entire village. Its true, its got way more advanced. There are just so many shops for entertainment and a shinobi store is hard to come by. The hokage tower seems to be almost the same. He was gonna wonder a bit more when a loud screech came from Obito’s mouth. “H-hey..look at the hokages faces…IS THAT FREAKING BAKASHI ON IT!?”
All of them turned towards the hokage mountain. And true…it really is him up there, with a mask and all. Why the hell would he become hokage? He's just ok doing missions all the time and taking orders, but giving them?. Right beside his face was a lady’s. That must be the godaime, Tsunade-san. One of the legendary sannin. See? That makes more sense. And right beside the princess is their sensei’s face.
“Maa…congratulations sensei, you became the yondaime in the future.” At that their sensei’s shocked face becomes sheepish and shy, one hand behind his hair and yanking his own hair.” Well…that seems a bit out of place, im not really the yondaime, yet.”
Then he looks over at Kakashi again with a smirk,”why then? I should be congratulating you too…rokudaime hokage sama!”
Now…at that kakashi literally squeaked,” sensei please dont…”
Obito decided to cut in fortunately and complain,” Why is he hokage?! Hes so arrogant! What do I do then? Do I just roam around with my own genin?”
“ we’ll find out in time obito,” minato then turned towards the hokage tower and started,”turns out kakashi is the current hokage so it wont be a problem explaining this to him.”
Right as he said that, a pink haired girl collided with rin. It seemed the pink haired one was in a hurry and rin just seemed to be on her way. She had some paper material in one of her hands and…a baby in the other. Thankfully the sudden collision did not seem to hurt the baby, but it sure hurt the paperwork in one of her hands
The girl quickly started to apologize to them.” I’m so so so sorry for bumping into you like that. I really need to get to the hokage tower. And oh my…the papers are all…” Now she was sporting a downtrodden look,”ill have to get another photocopy of those..” looking at the girls expression, the baby in her arms giggled softly “sa-sa sasa”, at this the girl seemed to regain her composure.”Its Sakura…but fine, it is what it is.”
Minato sensei then approached the woman asked her if they could help her somehow cause it feels like they were the one who got sensitive info wet.
“Really could you help? That would be wonderful! Please follow me, lets go that that store, it has a machine in it.”
They all followed her to the store,”Can touch her cheek? She is so cuteee and squishy! Is she your daughter?” Rin exclaimed excitedly while softly looking at the baby. Even obito was looking at the little girl who was babbling to Rin. At the last question the pink haired lady suddenly jumped from where she was taking the copies and coughed a bit. Huh, then that must not be her child. Maybe she's babysitting.
“Ok so first of all I’m Sakura Haruno. And no, this is not my daughter, she's my sensei’s daughter who i happily took away in the morning. And for the third part, Yesss! You can absolutely touch her! But not too hard ok? Otherwise she might cry.”
Obito then cut in and supplied,” The eyes are so dark…and the hair…who’s your sensei ny the way?” Rin touched the baby’s cheeks carefully but the baby’s full attention started to go towards Kakashi for some reason. And then obito with a contemplative yet sad look (what would he know about babies anyways to discern one’s feelings), after that the waterworks started.
The little baby was now flailing out of sakura’s arms and trying to reach behind Kakashi towards Obito. Her tiny hands were completely ignoring anything else on the path and only wanted the person who had her full attention to hold them.
Obito hurriedly walked towards the baby and held her hands, sakura-san did not look like the type who would give someone they met ten minutes ago to hold their very dear person. The crying ceased but the group the baby had on obito’s hands were solid.
“Cmon dont cry now, I promise I'll take you to your mama as soon as possible, just have to do this little work first ok?”
Minato sensei quickly calmed the situation, “This one’s got really strong lungs, I'll give you that. Haruno san if you don't mind, Who is the little one’s mom anyway that you have to carry her to the hokage tower?” The fond look sensei sent at the kid had done the job and sakura-san became way less nervous.
“She's my sensei’s daughter. I took her to my workplace in the morning and she was making a fuss after about three in the afternoon so I thought I'd take her back to her mom. He's just really busy these days after becoming hokage so I thought I'd give a hand in helping him somehow.”
She took a long breath and began again like an invisible weight was being lifted from her shoulders.
“her dad’s out of village for a mission and she hasn't seen him for a whole four days now so she's being especially emotional.” Then with a soft smile she said, “I think she really misses her dad.”
Meanwhile none of them had changed their expressions much but one thing was sure. They wear all in different states of SHOCKED.
On Minato's side he was feeling shocked but very very giddy. Can you believe it? This is kakashi’s daughter…and just a baby.
He always knew about Kakashi’s omega status so it wasn't much of a shock for him that he's the mom.
Omg she's just so cuteeeeeeee..eeeek.
Wait…but who's the father? Alright now that made him a bit nervous.
On Rin’s side she was beyond bewildered and shocked. Kakashi’s an omega? Only that would explain the fact that he was referred to as mom and not dad.
So kakashi never really ended up liking rin huh? Well that's ok she thinks. And we'll that's a very cute and pretty baby there so who is she to complain? And oh my…kakashi must've done the deed to actually make a baby and give birth to one.
Now that brought a mental smirk on her face.
Obito was probably the one who was the most shocked. Like…what do you mean Kakashi's a mom? And he has a baby ? Who looks very very very Uchiha btw. So that must mean that kakashi had always been an omega, and had never responded to Rin's affection only because he did not swing that way. Now he just feels plain stupid to never have noticed before, he himself is an alpha so how the hell did he not notice?
And then it hits him that Kakashi actually slept with someone to have this cutie. That somehow brought a weird mental image to him which he will wish to forget. He must've got with one of the good looking and talented uchiha’s in the clan. Kakashi himself is so over the top genius that only another genius would ever suit him.
Kakashi on the other hand was reeling from panic to denial to acceptance.
He did not want any family in the future to take care of or to worry about then why did he have this child? Was he forced? No that can't be possible, the child clearly loves her father and mother both and seems to have a proper relationship with them. Oh sage! Who the hell is the father?!
The air just started to feel too suffocating.
The baby turned out healthy and happy so he should be happy too, right?
Having his secondary gender as omega was already a very problematic thing. It could become a weakness in missions and jeopardize it. Now that in the future he's married and has a kid, he must've done that. So now he will have heat at regular intervals and in the future he would need his alpha to go through it. That's just awful, why would he trust someone that much.
The baby then looks at him and smiles a big toothed grin. Ah.

So that's why she looked so familiar. Obito had the same grin when he was at the academy. A grin all with teeth. The eyes of the baby crescent closed in the same way that kakashi’s do. He releases a sigh as if he's been holding his breath all this time. Then he looks over to Obito who's looking at the baby, fingers still trapped by the little one. All doubts are cleared when he looks at both of them for a while.
Obviously the baby is an Uchiha but he still can't figure out which one it could be. All Uchiha tend to have similar features of dark hair and eery black eyes which look like black holes.
Sakura breaks them from their mental world and asks them if they want to go to the hokage tower now. They all agreed and silently followed her to the place. Kakashi can feel three different set of eyes glancing at him from time to time. He can also feel one set of eye dead set on him from the front. They belong to his future daughter.
Future daughter who still has Obito's hand in a death grip. His hand is going to fall off due to lack of blood circulation but Obito is too nice to just retract his hand from Kakashi's future daughter grip of steel.
Yup, that one's definitely his.
