Chapter Text
The winding road seemed to never end. I mean, Washington state will do that to you. The trees there seem to go on forever in all directions both looking up and straight ahead in front of you. Baby’s engine hummed as the angel that would usually be sat in the backseat sat next to the drivers side.
Dean suddenly felt a rush of embarrassment sweep across his face. He had told both Sam and Castiel that he was going for a midnight ride, maybe a trip to a nearby gas station to take his mind off of things for a while. Sam of course, didn’t pay it any mind and wanted to stay back anyway. Cas, however, doesn’t need to sleep.
And now here Dean is with a literal angel from heaven in the passenger seat of his beloved impala. The same angel who doesn’t know that he wasn’t sneaking out for a midnight snack or joyride but something much more embarrassing and simpler, he was going to stargaze.
Yes, Dean Winchester, likes to stargaze in his free time.
Maybe he shouldn’t feel so embarrassed? Why does he even feel embarrassed? I mean, the guys father kind of made them, so to speak? Maybe he’d be glad that someone like Dean would enjoy and find comfort in such a simple thing. The angel also did put his body back together atom by atom. Why should he be so shy?
Just then, Castiel broke the silence.
“Dean,” he asked without turning his head from the passenger window.
”Yeah Cas?,”
”What field are you planning on stopping at?,” He said bluntly.
”I- Wait what?,” blurted Dean, taking his eyes off the road for a second.
“I watch over you when you leave at night Dean,” the angel turned to face him, “I am glad that even someone like yourself finds pleasure in them.”
”Yeah, that’s not creepy at all. Thanks a lot Cas, now I’m creeped out and embarrassed,” his hands gripped tighter on the steering wheel and he continued to focus on the ever changing road in ahead of him.
”I take it this is not a good time, I’ll go find a clearing if you wish to come.” The angel stated.
”Wait Cas-“ he turned his head and the angel was gone, with the sound of fluttering wings and whooshing air. All that was left was Dean, the road and trees. Endless trees. Oh, and his feelings for Cas.
