Remus feels his brain skid to a terrifying halt. What? What does Sirius know? Has he somehow gotten into Remus’ mind? Did he let something slip on accident? Murmur in his sleep? He tries to react too quickly, too eager to assure Sirius of his complete nonchalance, and in an impressive act of self-sabotage, only manages a sputtered “I- You- I don’t- That’s-”
He takes a quick breath, gathering himself to say an actual full sentence, but it’s too late. Sirius is grinning like Christmas has come early.
