Chapter Text

(The interior of the Strato-XL rocket was normally a place of high-tech marvels, vibrating with the clean, rhythmic hum of a dark-matter propulsion core and smelling faintly of ozone and bubblegum. Today, however, the atmosphere inside the cramped, chrome-plated cabin was thick with an exhausting, heavy dread. The bright neon indicator lights reflected off the curved metallic walls, casting long, erratic shadows across the faces of four children and one highly sophisticated cybernetic canine.)

(Jimmy Neutron sat tightly in the pilot's seat, his oversized cranium resting heavily against his palms as his fingers dug into his thick brown hair. His blue eyes, usually dancing with the sparks of unparalleled scientific discovery, were clouded with an intense, burning frustration. Beside him, Goddard whimpered softly, his digital monitor flashing a sorrowful blue hue as his mechanical tail gave a sluggish, rhythmic thump against the diamond-plated floor. Cindy Vortex stood directly behind the pilot's chair, her arms crossed tightly over her green striped shirt. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, her patience completely spent. She stared at the digital dashboard clock, which was ticking away mercilessly.)

"Jimmy, look at the temporal chronometer." Cindy said, her voice sharp but tinged with an undeniable undercurrent of worry. "We've waited exactly five hours just to look for our parents, drifting through this ridiculous spatial anomaly, and still absolutely nothing. No thermal signatures, no audio transmissions, not even a trace of residual DNA in the upper atmosphere. How much longer are we supposed to stare into the void?" She asked.

(Jimmy didn't snap back at her with his usual witty retort. He didn't even look up. He merely let out a long, ragged sigh that seemed to rattle his small frame. His right hand reached down into the pocket of his shorts, pulling out a crumpled, pristine sheet of white paper that he had already folded and unfolded a hundred times over the course of their desperate journey.)

"I know, Cindy. Trust me, I know.." Jimmy said quietly, his voice carrying a weight that no pre-teen boy should ever have to bear. "But we can't just turn back. I know they didn't just vanish into thin air by choice. Someone took them. Someone left me this sheet of paper to make us think they simply packed up and left, that they vanished somewhere to another place or something... but it's a calculated fabrication." As Jimmy stared at the stark white paper, the hum of the rocket faded from his ears, and the metallic walls of the cabin dissolved into the warm, familiar hues of a memory.

FLASHBACK:

(The memory was vivid, playing out behind Jimmy's eyelids with painful clarity. It was earlier that very afternoon. The sun had been shining brightly over the manicured lawns of Retroville, casting a deceptive warmth over the neighborhood. Jimmy had been walking home from Lindbergh Elementary, his backpack slung over one shoulder, his mind occupied with calculations regarding a new sub-atomic particle accelerator he wanted to build out of an old toaster.)

"Mom! Dad! I'm home!" Jimmy had called out as he pushed open the front door of the Neutron household.

(He expected to hear the familiar, chaotic sounds of his home. He expected to smell the comforting scent of Judy Neutron's freshly baked pot roast, or perhaps the chaotic clatter of Hugh Neutron accidentally knocking over another one of his beloved duck decoys in the living room. Instead, he was met with a terrifying, sterile silence. The house was completely empty. The air felt stagnant, cold, and entirely devoid of life.)

Jimmy's heart had skipped a beat. He dropped his backpack onto the carpeted floor and hurried into the kitchen. "Mom? Dad?"

(There was no sign of a struggle. The kitchen counters were clean, the dishes were neatly put away, but sitting squarely in the center of the wooden dining table was a single sheet of paper. Jimmy's breath caught in his throat. He rushed forward, his small hands trembling as he snatched up the document.)

(At first glance, Jimmy had assumed it was a note from his parents. Perhaps they had run a quick errand to the grocery store, or perhaps Hugh had dragged Judy to a local duck enthusiast convention. But as his brilliant eyes scanned the ink on the page, a cold dread washed over him. The note read: We have departed for another place for a special vacation. Do not look for us.)

(Jimmy's analytical mind immediately went to work, dissecting the visual data before him. He held the paper up to the sunlight, analyzing the stroke pressure, the curvature of the letters, and the spacing between the words. It was completely wrong. This was absolutely not his mother's elegant, precise cursive script, nor was it his father's erratic, left-handed, messy chicken scratch. The loops on the lowercase 'g's were too rigid; the cross on the 't's was entirely too symmetrical. It was a total lie. Someone had deliberately forged a note to deter any immediate rescue attempt, hoping Jimmy would accept the illusion and stop searching. But whoever had taken them had drastically underestimated the intellect of Jimmy Neutron. He knew, with absolute certainty, that his parents were in grave danger.)

"That's definitely not their handwriting." Jimmy said to himself.

END OF FLASHBACK:

"Jimmy? Earth to Jimmy!" Carl Wheezer's trembling voice violently snapped Jimmy out of the flashback and dragged him back to the cold reality of the rocket ship. Carl was leaning over the secondary console, his round face pale, his thick glasses slipping down the bridge of his nose as he stared at the crumpled note in Jimmy's hand.

"Jimmy, I'm still just so shocked about the handwriting," Carl whimpered, clutching his stomach as if the mere thought of the forgery was making his acid reflux flare up. "I mean, who could have written something that spooky? What if it was an alien overlord? Or a secret government agency? Or... or a giant, evil sap-bleeding tree?!" He asked whimpering.

Jimmy smoothed out the paper and placed it safely back into his pocket, turning his chair around to face his friends. He offered them a determined, reassuring smile, trying his best to mask the overwhelming anxiety gnawing at his gut. "Carl, whoever did this is highly intelligent, but they aren't smarter than us," Jimmy stated firmly, adjusting the collar of his red shirt. "I've mapped the residual tachyon particles left behind in the kitchen, and they lead directly through a localized inter-dimensional tear. Don't worry, guys. With my intellect, Goddard's tracking arrays, and a little bit of teamwork, everything will be a-ok." He said.

(The entire rocket violently shuddered. The bright blue neon lights in the cabin instantly flashed an ominous, blood-red color. A loud, screeching klaxon began to blare from the ceiling, and the smooth hum of the hyper-matter engine deteriorated into a sickening, sputtering wheeze. The control stick in Jimmy's hands began to vibrate violently, resisting his grip.)

Cindy grabbed onto the back of Jimmy's chair to keep her balance, her eyes widening in fury as she glared at the back of his head. "A-ok, huh? You just had to say it, Neutron! You spoke too soon!" She shouted.

"Great alpha particles!" Jimmy yelled, frantically slapping switches on the dashboard as smoke began to billow from the floor vents. "The main thruster housing is experiencing a catastrophic thermal runaway! The auto-stabilizers are completely fried, and the fuel-to-oxidizer ratio is entirely unbalanced!" He exclaimed in shock.

(Sheen Estevez, who had been sitting in the corner trying to open a highly collectible Ultra Lord action figure with his teeth, completely panicked. He dropped the toy, throwing his hands wildly into the air as he slipped off his seat.)

"What are we gonna do, Jimmy?!" Sheen screamed at the top of his lungs, his eyes darting around the smoky cabin in pure, unadulterated terror. "Tell me what to do! I'm too young to die! I haven't even achieved full spiritual synchronization with my Ultra Lord action figures yet! I haven't even seen issue number one thousand of the comic book! I can't go out in a generic rocket explosion!" He shrieked in fear.

(Jimmy didn't waste a single second. He kicked open the emergency storage locker located beneath the main console. Inside sat a neatly stacked pile of high-velocity, compact emergency parachutes. He grabbed the pack of parachutes and began throwing them into the arms of the gang.)

"No time for a brain blast! Everyone, put these on right now!" Jimmy commanded over the deafening roar of the sputtering engine. "We are losing altitude at an exponential rate! The hull integrity is dropping below critical levels! We have to jump!" He said.

"Jump?!" Carl shrieked, his voice reaching a pitch that only dogs could hear. "But Jimmy, my vertigo! And my asthma! And my intense fear of falling from the sky!" He whimpered.

"Just move, Carl!" Cindy yelled, forcefully shoving a parachute pack into his chest and pulling him toward the rear emergency airlock door.

(Jimmy securely strapped his own pack onto his shoulders, while Goddard quickly retracted his legs, transforming into his compact flight-booster mode. Jimmy hit the manual release lever for the airlock. The heavy circular door blew outward with a loud hiss, and the violent, freezing rushing wind of the open atmosphere instantly flooded the cabin, tearing away loose papers and filling their ears with a deafening roar.)

"Jump!" Jimmy yelled.

(One by one, the kids plunged out of the dying, smoking vessel and into the open air. As they fell through the heavy cloud layer, the freezing wind whipped violently against their faces, forcing their eyes shut. But as they cleared the dense white fog, the view beneath them completely opened up. The sheer scale of the landscape below caused them all to gasp.)

They weren't falling into the familiar, flat green plains of Retroville. Below them lay a massive, dense, sprawling concrete jungle. Towering, iconic skyscrapers made of glass and steel pierced the horizon, casting gargantuan shadows over grid-like streets packed with thousands of tiny yellow taxicabs. Suspension bridges stretched like massive iron cobwebs across wide, churning rivers.

Sheen, spinning wildly in the air before managing to pull his parachute cord, let out a shocked, bewildered scream as his massive silk canopy deployed above him. "Holy Ultra Lord, Jimmy! Look at those buildings! We aren't in Retroville anymore! We are landing in New York!" He said, very shocked and surprised.

Carl's parachute deployed next, snapping him upward with a violent jerk. As he drifted downward, looking down at the dizzying heights and the spinning concrete streets below, his face turned an ungodly shade of green. "Jimmy... the G-forces... my stomach is starting to feel incredibly queasy!" He wheezed.

Cindy, gliding gracefully beside him as her blonde ponytail whipped around her face, rolled her eyes and groaned loudly over the rushing wind. "Gross, Carl! Keep your breakfast to yourself! Just hold it in until we actually hit the ground!" She groaned.

Jimmy steered his parachute lines, tracking their descent path toward a large, expansive oasis of green grass and dense trees nestled directly in the center of the concrete monolith—Central Park.

"Listen to me, everyone!" Jimmy shouted down to his friends, his voice strained against the wind. "Aim for the clearing near that large stone bridge! Keep your trajectories steady and make sure you land safely!" The kids all nodded grimly through the wind resistance, tightly gripping their steering lines as the ground rushed up to meet them.

(Meanwhile, down on the picturesque stone walkway of Central Park's historic Bow Bridge, a completely different kind of tragedy was unfolding. The atmosphere here was not filled with rushing wind or mechanical failures, but with a suffocating, heavy sorrow that seemed to dim the afternoon sunlight.)

(Peter Parker stood near the center of the elegant white bridge, his heart hammering against his ribs with a sickening, hollow rhythm. In his hands, he tightly gripped a delicate, beautifully wrapped bouquet of fresh white and pink peonies. He was wearing a simple, dark navy sweater over a neatly collared blue shirt, his dark hair parted carefully to the side, looking precisely as he did in . His expression was one of innocent, desperate hope, completely vulnerable and utterly unaware of the emotional wrecking ball that was about to swing directly into his life.)

(Standing just a few feet away from him was Mary Jane Watson. Her face was a tragic mask of profound sorrow, her eyes rimmed with heavy, unshed tears that threatened to spill over at any second. Her vibrant red hair caught the dim, filtered sunlight filtering through the trees, mirroring the exact painful frame captured in . Every fiber of her being was aching. She was trapped in a living nightmare, forced into this public execution of her own happiness by the cruel, calculating blackmail of Harry Osborn, who had threatened Peter's very life if she didn't break his heart today. She looked at Peter, her lips trembling, swallowing the immense lump of grief in her throat.)

"I don't want to see you anymore.." Mary Jane said, her voice cracking, barely rising above a whisper against the gentle rustle of the surrounding willow leaves.

Peter's hopeful smile instantly faltered. The world seemed to slow to a crawl around him, the sound of the distant city fading into a dull roar. He looked at her, his eyes searching hers for any sign of a joke, any shred of the warmth he knew so well. "What are you talking about?" Peter asked, his voice thick with genuine concern, stepping slightly closer as a profound panic began to take root in his chest.

Mary Jane couldn't bear to meet his eyes. She turned her gaze slightly toward the stone railing, the overwhelming guilt and fear eating her alive as she forced herself to deliver the agonizing script that had been dictated to her. She started to get incredibly emotional, her chest heaving as she choked out the words. "I don't know.. I'm lonely.. You weren't there for me.." She said, choked up.

(Peter stood in stunned, agonizing silence. The words pierced through him deeper and more violently than any physical blow he had ever absorbed as Spider-Man. He looked at her, his lips parting slightly, completely paralyzed by the sudden, inexplicable wall that had risen between them.)

Mary Jane raised a trembling hand, wiping a stray tear from her pale cheek as she tried to maintain her resolve. "I can't do this.." She sniffles, her shoulders shaking as she forced out the absolute killing blow: "It's over."

"No.. Please. Please don't say that!" Peter stepped forward, the bouquet of peonies shaking violently in his grip. The sheer, unadulterated desperation in his voice was heartbreaking. He was begging, completely stripping away his pride. "I know I've been selfish but.. I can do better, I can change!" He said.

Mary Jane slowly shook her head, her heart shattering into a million jagged pieces. She wanted to scream the truth to him. She wanted to tell him that Harry was alive, that Harry remembered everything, and that Harry would kill him if she didn't do this. But she couldn't risk his life. "It's not that simple.." Mary Jane said, her voice flat, drained of all the life it once possessed.

"We love each other I love you!" Peter pleaded, tears finally welling up in his own eyes as he fought with everything he had for the only thing that gave his complicated life meaning. "When we have problems when people have problems they work it out, they talk to each other!" He explained.

(Mary Jane couldn't handle the raw agony radiating from him anymore. The overwhelming pain of breaking the man she loved to save his life became too much to bear. She violently clapped her hand over her face, desperately trying to stifle her loud, heavy sobbing, fighting with every ounce of her strength trying not to cry out loud.)

(A short distance away, entirely concealed within the thick, weeping branches and dense foliage of the lakeside trees, stands Harry Osborn. His face was a mask of cold, twisted satisfaction. He watched the brutal breakup silently, a dark, vengeful triumph burning deep within his green eyes. He basked in the utter ruin of Peter Parker's happiness. This was his masterstroke. This was his perfect, bloodless revenge for the death of his father, Norman Osborn. He was destroying Peter from the inside out.)

(Suddenly, the quiet, malicious solitude of his hiding spot was shattered. Five distinct, incredibly chaotic noises echoed violently through the brush right next to him. Harry spun around instantly, his hand instinctively twitching toward his jacket pocket where his advanced technological weapons usually rested, his muscles tensing for a fight. He expected a tactical strike, an assassin, or perhaps Peter discovering his location. Instead, he was met with a sight so utterly bizarre that his brain completely stalled.)

(Tangled in a massive, chaotic heap of white parachute nylon, branches, and leaves were four oddly dressed children and a shiny, metallic, fully functional robotic dog. Jimmy Neutron was busy detangling his massive hair from a tree branch; Sheen was face-down in the dirt; Carl was clutching his stomach, groaning; and Cindy was aggressively kicking her way out of her harness. Harry's jaw dropped. His suave, calculated, menacing demeanor completely evaporated into pure, unadulterated bewilderment. He stared at Jimmy's absurdly massive cranium, then at Sheen's star-patterned shirt. "What are you doing here and how did you get here?!" Harry demanded, his voice a sharp, aristocratic snap as he stepped forward, glaring down at the intruders.)

Jimmy, finally freeing his massive hair and adjusting the collar of his red shirt, looked up and winced. He brushed the dirt off his clothes, offering a polite, albeit highly stressed, look of contrition. "Uh, terribly sorry to intrude upon your immediate geographical coordinates, sir," Jimmy apologized, trying to explain the situation with his usual scientific verbosity. "You see, our sub-orbital transport suffered a catastrophic propulsion failure due to a severe thermal runaway in the main thruster housing, and—"

"Hey! Look over there!" Cindy cut Jimmy off completely, shoving past a thick willow branch. Her sharp blue eyes immediately locked onto the bridge just a few yards away. She spotted the two drenched, miserable-looking strangers locked in what appeared to be a deeply painful, dramatic emotional standoff.

Cindy turned back to Harry, pointing an accusatory finger toward the bridge. "What's going on over there with those two?" she asked the stranger, her curiosity getting the better of her.

(Harry stiffened instantly. A cold sweat broke out on the back of his neck. He absolutely could not let these random, weirdly dressed children ruin his meticulously planned moment of psychological warfare, nor could he let them alert Peter to his presence.)

Harry let out a controlled, irritated sigh, quickly smoothing down the lapels of his expensive coat. He needed to get these strange kids out of the park before they ruined his carefully orchestrated masterpiece. "Look, kids, it's nothing. They're just... they're having an argument due to a very tough, complicated situation lately. It's adult business. Now, I suggest you pack up your toys and go home." He crossed his arms, internally praying they wouldn't ask any more questions or notice the smug satisfaction in his eyes.

Sheen, entirely ignoring the heavy romantic drama unfolding on the bridge, happened to look straight up into the afternoon sky. His eyes instantly widened to the size of dinner plates, his jaw dropping so low it nearly hit the dirt. A massive, terrifying shadow was rapidly expanding over the entirety of Central Park, blotting out the sun. "Uh oh.." Sheen muttered, his voice uncharacteristically small.

Jimmy noticed his friend's petrified expression and sighed. "Uh oh? Sheen, what's wrong now? Did you lose your Ultra Lord tracking card in the wind?" He asked.

(Sheen didn't speak. He couldn't. He slowly raised a trembling, dirty finger, pointing directly up into the heavens. Jimmy, Cindy, Carl, and even Harry all followed the trajectory of his finger. In an instant, their eyes widened in collective, absolute horror.)

(Descending like a rogue, roaring meteor from the upper exosphere, glowing a faint, dangerous orange from atmospheric friction and spitting out violent bursts of bright green, unstable Neutronic sparks, was Jimmy's massive, heavy-duty chrome rocket. It wasn't just falling; its damaged internal guidance system had locked onto a direct, unalterable trajectory right toward Bow Bridge.)

"Oh, great alpha particles.." Jimmy whispered, his scientific confidence completely vanishing.

"Oh, holy mother of llamas!" Carl shrieked, covering his head.

(It was on a direct, high-velocity collision course to hit the two completely unsuspecting adults standing on the bridge.)

Harry's heart dropped directly into his stomach, his cold, vengeful composure completely shattering into a million pieces. His jaw dropped, his aristocratic composure shattering instantly. "What the hell is that thing?!" He shouted in confusion as he looked from the falling rocket to the bridge, realization hitting him like a physical blow. The rocket wasn't just going to crash; it was going to completely obliterate the two of them on the bridge. This wasn't part of his plan. He wanted to destroy Peter's life, not vaporize him under a piece of alien technology.

(Back on the stone walkway of Bow Bridge, Peter was completely oblivious to the impending mechanical doom roaring down from the heavens. His entire universe had shrunk down to the tear-stained face of Mary Jane and the crushing, suffocating weight of her words. Desperate to salvage whatever tiny shred of hope might be left in her heart, Peter reached into his pants pocket with a trembling hand. His fingers wrapped around a small, familiar silver band—Aunt May's beautiful vintage engagement ring. He pulled it out, holding it up between his fingers so that the pale afternoon light caught the brilliant sparkle of the diamond. He showed it to Mary Jane, his eyes pleading for her to understand the depth of his commitment.)

"Look you see?" Peter said, his voice cracking with an agonizing vulnerability.

Mary Jane gasps softly, the sudden sight of the ring feeling like a physical blow to her chest. The sheer agony of what she was doing almost broke her resolve. "Oh.." Mary Jane whispered, her throat tightening so fiercely she could barely breathe.

Peter stepped closer, his eyes locked onto hers, desperate for a breakthrough. "You know what this is? You know what I want for—" Suddenly, the words died instantly in Peter's throat.

(A violent, deafening, agonizing alarm blared with white-hot intensity inside the deep recesses of his skull. His Spider-Sense exploded with a level of sheer, unadulterated panic that he hadn't felt since the fusion reactor incident with Otto Octavius. It felt like a high-voltage electric shock ripping through his central nervous system, forcing his body to react before his mind could even process the threat. His head snapped violently upward toward the sky.)

Mary Jane, entirely blind to the danger and assuming his sudden distraction was just another example of his emotional absence, forced herself to deliver the final, devastating lie that Harry had demanded of her. "There's someone else! I've fallen in love with—" She was abruptly cut off mid-sentence, her voice faltering when she realized he wasn't looking at her at all. His eyes were locked on the sky, wide with terror. A sudden wave of hurt and frustration washed over her.

"Peter, are you even listening to me?!" Mary Jane asked, her voice rising in anger and complete annoyance. "I'm telling you that I'm in—"

"WATCH OUT!" Peter roared, violently cutting her off, his voice completely dropping its gentle tone, replaced by the commanding, powerful authority of Spider-Man.

(Before Mary Jane could even blink, Peter dropped the beautiful bouquet of peonies onto the stone walkway. In a split-second blur of superhuman, red-and-blue instincts, he jammed Aunt May's engagement ring safely back into his pants pocket, wrapped one powerful, muscular arm securely around Mary Jane's waist, and leapt.)

(Mary Jane let out a piercing, terrified shriek as the world spun wildly around her. Peter's powerful legs propelled them directly over the elegant stone railing of Bow Bridge, clearing the structure entirely. They plunged through the open air, falling fast, and crashed into the deep, murky waters of the Central Park reservoir below with a massive, exploding, towering splash.)

(An instant later, Jimmy's rocket slammed directly into the center of Bow Bridge. The impact was absolutely deafening. A massive shockwave tore through the clearing, fracturing the historic stone and wood of the bridge. Shrapnel, blinding dust, twisted chrome plating, and bursts of colorful, highly unstable green Neutronic fuel detonated outward in a violent, roiling cloud of thick smoke and brilliant sparks.)

(From their hiding spot within the thick foliage of the lakeside trees, Harry, Jimmy, Sheen, Carl, and Cindy look in absolute, paralyzed shock at the destruction. They all instinctively shield their eyes with their arms, covering their faces from the blinding flash and the flying debris of the crash. Thick gray dust settled slowly over the fractured stone of the ruined bridge.)

Carl slowly peeked out from behind his fingers, letting out a long, incredibly shaky breath of relief as he patted his chest. "Wow... I am so glad we survived that parachute jump. My mom always says that high-velocity explosions are incredibly bad for my allergies." He breathed.

Harry stood completely frozen, his jaw tight, his fists clenched so hard his knuckles turned white. His mind was racing at a million miles an hour in a state of absolute panic. What the hell just happened? Harry talked in his head, his chest heaving as he stared at the smoking crater where his perfect trap had just been sprung. This wasn't part of my plan. This wasn't supposed to happen! I wanted to break his spirit, to make him suffer the way I suffered! But that thing... it nearly killed Peter. A strange, deeply complicated knot of residual panic and ancient, buried protectiveness for his former best friend twisted violently in his chest, though he quickly forced his face back into a cold, arrogant sneer to hide it.

Cindy turned sharply to Harry, aggressively shoving his shoulder with her hand. "Hey! Mister expensive suit! Do something! Those two strangers just jumped directly into the ocean water because of Jimmy's stupid malfunctioning invention! Go help them!" She demanded.

Harry looked down at the murky, churning, dirty water of the reservoir, and then looked down at his immaculate, custom-tailored designer clothes. He scoffed loudly, crossing his arms over his chest with an air of immense upper-class detachment. "I'm not going in the ocean in my expensive clothes." Harry stated flatly, his voice dripping with an arrogant indifference that masked his inner turmoil.

"Stand back, everyone." Jimmy said, stepping forward with an air of absolute scientific authority as he brushed a twig out of his hair. "No need for primitive aquatic rescue techniques. I've got this completely covered." Jimmy reached into his pocket and pulled out a sleek, silver, rectangular remote control equipped with a small, glowing blue satellite dish on top—his portable quantum Matter-Transporter. He aimed the device directly toward the bubbling, troubled surface of the water where Peter and Mary Jane had vanished. His eyes narrowed in deep concentration as he manipulated the dial, locking onto the two distinct biological targets.

"Locking onto atomic signatures... adjusting for water density... and... activating quantum displacement!" Jimmy announced, pressing a bright red button on the center of the remote.

(A brilliant, blinding flash of blue neon light erupted over the dry grass right next to the bushes. In a split second, the molecular structures of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson were warped through space, materializing safely on the solid ground, completely intact but absolutely drenched from head to toe. Peter and Mary Jane instantly collapsed onto their hands and knees, violently coughing out mouthfuls of murky reservoir water. Their clothes were soaking wet, clinging heavily to their bodies, and their hair was completely plastered against their faces.)

(Peter blinked through the water dripping from his bangs, shaking his head to clear the ringing in his ears. He looked around in utter, absolute confusion at the high-tech teenager, the odd kids, the robot dog, and his bitter enemy Harry Osborn standing together in the brush.)

"What... what just happened?" Peter sputters, wiping his eyes as he tries to stand. He looks directly at the children. "Thank you... thank you for saving our lives... but..." He looked over at Mary Jane, who was shivering and wringing out her wet jacket, and then looked back at the kids. His voice trailed off into an incredibly awkward silence. It was very obviously not the right time for a bizarre, sci-fi rescue, given that his entire personal life had just been violently demolished two minutes prior. "It wasn't the right time for us right now.." He said calmly.

Jimmy offered them a deeply sympathetic, polite smile, trying his best to ease the palpable, agonizing tension hanging over the adults. "You're very welcome, citizens," Jimmy said kindly, nodding his head. "We understand you were in the middle of a rather... intense personal argument. We deeply apologize for the near-death experience of the rocket crash and the overall interruption." Jimmy cleared his throat, extending a polite hand toward them. "I'm Jimmy Neutron, boy genius. What are your names?" He asked.

Peter let out a heavy, exhausted sigh, pushing his wet hair back away from his forehead as he tried to regain some shred of his dignity despite being soaked and heartbroken. "I'm Peter. Peter Parker." he said quietly, his voice hollow. He glanced down at the redheaded woman beside him, his chest aching with a fresh wave of agony. "And this is... my now-ex-girlfriend, Mary Jane. But you can call her MJ." He then reluctantly pointed a hand toward the man standing in the designer coat. "And that's my friend, Harry." He said, pointing to the 2 friends he mentioned.

Harry immediately stepped forward, his voice cold, sharp, and cutting through the air like a razor blade as he corrected Peter without a single shred of hesitation. "Let's get one thing straight, Pete.." Harry said smoothly, his eyes flashing with a dangerous malice. "You and I are not really friends at the moment."

Peter winced slightly at the sharp rejection, looking down at the damp grass beneath his shoes. "Right. Like I said... it's complicated." He sighed.

Jimmy decided to quickly break the incredibly awkward silence by gesturing proudly to his own crew. "Well, these are my friends: Sheen, Carl, and Cindy. And this," Jimmy tapped the smooth metallic skull of his loyal companion, "is my cybernetic canine, Goddard." He said, pointing to the ones he mentioned.

(Goddard barked twice in a perfect, synthesized electronic tone, before whirring his mechanical tail in a rapid circle.)

(Peter, Mary Jane, and Harry all stopped dead in their tracks. Their eyes widened in unison, their jaws dropping as they stared down at the mechanical animal. Even amidst a devastating, life-altering breakup, a near-death experience, and a bitter blood feud, the sheer, unadulterated absurdity of a fully functioning, barking robot dog left the three of them completely surprised.)

"A... a robot dog?" Mary Jane asked, her voice trembling slightly as her brain desperately tried to process the surreal sight. She wiped a stray drop of reservoir water from her chin, looking at the eclectic group of children. "What are you five even doing here in New York?" She asked.

Jimmy's expression instantly grew solemn, the profound weight of his actual mission rushing back to dominate his thoughts. "Our parents have been taken," Jimmy explained thoroughly, his voice filled with an unshakeable determination. "We don't know who did it, or why, but we've been searching for them for five hours straight across multiple dimensional coordinates. We tracked a strange spatial anomaly directly to this city, which is unfortunately when our rocket lost control. I truly apologize again for the near-death experience of the rocket crash."

Cindy stepped forward, crossing her arms tightly as she took over the explanation. "We've asked everyone everywhere around town since we dropped in, but we aren't getting any leads. This city is absolutely huge, and we're completely running out of options." She looked between Peter, MJ, and Harry, recognizing an underlying strength and resilience in them despite the obvious emotional disaster they were dealing with. "We need local assistance. We were wondering... if you three would like to team up with us?" She asked.

(Peter, Mary Jane, and Harry all froze. They looked at each other for a long, incredibly heavy, agonizing moment. The silence that stretched between them was thick with a painful history, secret identities, deep betrayals, and freshly broken hearts. Yet, as they looked down at these desperate children who only wanted to save their families, a common thread of deep responsibility tugged at all of them.)

(Despite the painful stuff tearing their lives apart, Peter knew he couldn't turn away from people in need. He nodded his head slowly. Mary Jane's expression softened with deep empathy, and she nodded as well. Harry, realizing that keeping Peter close would allow him to continue monitoring his psychological torment—and perhaps driven by a lingering, deeply buried spark of his old, heroic self—grudgingly nodded his head. All three of them accepted the alliance.)

"Oh, thank goodness!" Sheen shouted, happily relieved, throwing his hands wildly into the air and dancing a small jig in the dirt. "I was terrified we'd have to navigate this giant concrete maze alone! And frankly, the complete lack of Ultra Lord billboards in this dimension is deeply, deeply disturbing to my mental well-being!" He said happily.

Jimmy smiled broadly, his massive brain already working at a million miles an hour as he formulated a strategy. "Excellent," Jimmy stated confidently. "First things first: we need to go to a lab. Any advanced scientific facility with a high-density particle array or a molecular scanner will suffice. I need to build a specialized quantum GPS to search for my parents' unique atomic signatures across the metropolitan area." He explained.

(Peter, thinking immediately of his own advanced scientific background and the world-class laboratory equipment available at Columbia University, nodded his head in complete agreement. Harry and Mary Jane followed suit, nodding silently as they all turned away from the smoking ruins of Bow Bridge and began to walk off together into the deep, winding paths of Central Park.)

(As they walked, Harry intentionally fell back a few paces, slowing his stride until he was walking slightly behind the group. He waited until Peter glanced back over his shoulder. The moment their eyes locked, Harry raised his hand slowly. Silently, deliberately, and with a cold, terrifying smirk playing on his lips, Harry did the classic "I'm watching you" symbol to him silently—pointing two fingers tightly toward his own eyes, and then flipping them directly toward Peter's face in a silent promise of absolute surveillance.)

(Peter absorbed the heavy threat, his face hardening into a resolute expression as he nodded silently at Harry. Peter then looked sideways at Mary Jane, who was walking silently beside him. Mary Jane caught the entire terrifying exchange. Her eyes were completely full of sorrow and silent warning as she looked at Peter, and she did it as well, nodding silently back to him to acknowledge the incredibly dangerous game they were all being forced to play under Harry's thumb. Together, the bizarre assembly of broken heroes, bitter rivals, extraordinary children, and a robotic dog continued to walk off, disappearing into the gray shadows of New York City.)

To be continued...
