chase you around the living room

Summary:

"Misa lent us a DVD," Light says, eyes focused on the pages of the textbook in front of him. "Have you ever heard of Scream?"

L raises an eyebrow, barely looking up from the laptop screen. "I've heard your screams, dear," he replies cheekily, the faintest hint of a smirk on his lips. It widens as Light groans, pinching the bridge of his nose as he always does whenever his lover makes a joke of their bedroom escapades.

"Don't bring that up," Light all but glares, continuing to read from his textbook. He rereads a sentence six times before deciding to give up, looking at L with a slight frown. "It's a horror movie. Misa suggested we watch it together."

or; Watching a classic cat/mouse chase gives L a horribly terrific idea.

Work Text:

The idea starts simple enough. Misa has an odd fascination with slasher films, especially older ones, and she recommends Scream to Light and L, declaring that they have to watch it.

"It's a Halloween classic!" she had exclaimed with a pout, and while Light could have lied and said that they'd watch it, he figured it would be a nice change of pace to watch a film with L.

The topic is brought up while the older man is working on his laptop, sitting down on the small sofa in the living area. He's been working for hours with no breaks, as per usual, while Light sits next to him, a textbook splayed out in front of him on the coffee table and a notebook perched on his lap. He's studying for a civil law exam he has in a few days, notebook filled with notes in neat handwriting and yellow highlighted sections.

The other man blinks, once, twice, and then lets out the tiniest huff of amusement. "She does realize it's March, doesn't she?" The small smirk on his face widens slightly, and Light contemplates punching him to wipe it off. Alas, he's trying to behave. L is paying the bills after all, while Light attends university. It would do him good to play nice, even if his boyfriend is an impossible jerk.

"You can watch horror movies when it isn't October," he argues, crossing his arms over his chest. It's the same habit Light has whenever a disagreement between the two is about to start. "It's not against the law."

"Perhaps it should be," L grins, managing to dodge Light's flick of retaliation. He merely chuckles, a hand grabbing the younger man's wrist to press his lips to his knuckles. Light rolls his eyes in response but doesn't pull his hand away, glancing back down towards his book to avoid L's eyes. "I suppose you'll want us to watch this movie then?"

Light looks up at that, shrugging his shoulders. "Misa will probably bother us if we don't. Besides, it could be enjoyable. Aren't you always suggesting we stay inside for dates?"

L hums in thought, finger pressed to his lips as it usually is whenever he's deep in thought. "Why not? It could be nice," he finally says, turning to Light with a small smile. "We could order desserts from the shop nearby. They have a new strawberry shortcake—"

"Of course you'd be thinking about sweets rather than spending quality time with me," Light says with a sigh, though he doesn't feel too bad. He knows L will indulge him with the movie, because he always does whenever it comes to mundane things like this.

Still, Light makes a note to swing by that dessert shop on his way back from his classes on Friday.

They spend the rest of the day studying and working, only stopping for dinner that was sent by Light's mother. After eating, they settle into their nightly routine; Light takes a brief shower, and then gets dressed in his pajamas. Afterwards, he washes his face and then brushes his teeth, while L gets settled in their bed, a few different sweet snacks sitting on his nightstand. His laptop also lays on his side of the bed, surprisingly unopened.

Once Light pads into the room, yawning into the back of his hand, L folds the covers over so he can slide into bed. He does so, pulling the covers to his waist before leaning over to peck the older man's temple.

"Goodnight," he whispers, voice barely audible. L smiles at the gesture, returning it with a kiss to Light's cheek, and then watches as the younger gets settled into bed.

As always, Light rolls over to lay on his left side, facing away from L, who tends to work well into the night. While he can easily function on four hours of sleep a night, Light treats his beauty sleep like a treasure, something that he has to keep.

L murmurs his goodnight as Light falls asleep, drifting into a comfortable slumber.

Like every Friday since they began dating, it's date night. The one night of the week that L sits aside his work and Light pushes his studying to the side, allowing them to focus solely on each other.

Sometimes they go to restaurants that Light's father recommends. Other times their dates are as simple as going on a walk around the block, just to get some fresh air. Once, they played tennis against one another, though it nearly ended with Light beating L with a tennis racket whenever he made a comment about his ass in his shorts.

They still fucked that night. Light blames L's unnerving stare for that.

Typically, Light makes a beeline for home after university, mostly because the apartment is comforting. It's his sanctuary, as much as it is L's. However, on this Friday, he makes a stop at the nearby dessert shop that L mentioned, looking through the cases of various dessert options.

Ultimately, he decides to buy two strawberry shortcakes for L, because he did just solve a hard case. He deserves a little treat. Light also decides to get a slice of dark chocolate cake for himself, knowing he could afford to indulge for a night.

Once the desserts are paid for, Light continues his walk back to the apartment complex, bag in hand. He arrives to the building a short time later, stepping inside the elevator and hitting the button for the floor that he and L reside on.

Stepping inside the apartment, Light lets out, "honey, I'm home,", and then slips off his shoes and slides on his house slippers. He carries the bag to the kitchen, putting it on the counter and then turning to wash his hands.

L sidles up to him, lanky arms wrapping around that thin waist that he adores. "Welcome back. I assume your classes were as usual?" His breath his warm against Light's bare neck, and the brunet fights against the instinctual shiver that threatens to escape his body.

"Your assumption would be correct," he answers, barely leaning into the embrace. Light dries his hands off with a small hand towel before turning in his boyfriend's arms, his own coming up to rest over L's shoulders. "Any new cases I should be concerned about?"

L shrugs, his hold on Light squeezing the tiniest bit. "Nothing too unusual," he admits, a hand coming up to brush through brown strands of hair. "Honestly, the cases would bore you to death, and we can't have that, now, can we?"

"You're insufferable, you know that?" Light scowls, eyes lowered in a glare, and L merely smirks, pressing a kiss between furrowed eyebrows.

"So you say, but you haven't left me yet, so I deduce that I'm not too insufferable."

The two eventually part from their embrace, L finally noticing the bag on the counter. He turns to investigate it, discovering the shortcakes and the slice of cake, and he practically beams at the sight.

Meanwhile, Light changes into his lounge clothes, a simple long sleeve shirt and pants. He makes a mental note to do the laundry tomorrow, as he tosses his other clothes into the hamper.

They eat a simple dinner together, something that L orders while Light sets up their DVD player. Once they finish eating, L brings the desserts to the living room, sitting them down on the coffee table, along with the forks. The lights are dimmed, creating a nice atmosphere for movie watching.

Light puts the DVD in and sits down beside L on the sofa, shoulders barely touching. L takes initiative and wraps an arm around the younger man's shoulders, pulling him in closer.

"If Light gets scared, he can hold onto me," he teases, unsuccessfully dodging the pinch to his side.

"It can't be that bad," Light insists, arms crossed over his chest. Despite the teasing, he refuses to move from his spot, throwing a small blanket over the two of them.

The movie's concept is pretty simple, considering the genre. However, there is a mystery, which the couple finds nice, considering who they are.

The opening scene makes Light roll his eyes, especially as the killer asks, "what's your favorite scary movie?" It sounds dumb, in his mind, and when L imitates the voice in his ear, he tells his boyfriend just how stupid it is with a roll of his eyes.

They watch as the girl—Casey, Light thinks is her name—is brutally killed on screen, and Light settles further into L's side, ignoring the wandering hand that slid from his shoulders to his hip.

As the movie continues and the kill count adds up, L turns to Light, a dangerous grin on his face. "You know, this could make for an interesting roleplay idea," he says, eyes twinkling with a hint of something.

Light also turns to face his boyfriend, an unimpressed look on his face. "What, you want to pretend to kill me? Chase me down?"

"See, I knew you were smart," L ruffles Light's hair, ignoring the protest. He pulls the younger man impossibly closer, so Light nearly sits in his lap. "It could be interesting, don't you think? A classic cat and mouse chase."

"Right," Light mutters, turning back to watch the movie. "I suppose you'd want to be Ghostface then, and I your precious little victim?"

"Well, if you insist." L grins once again, hand moving from Light's hip to his hair, twirling a strand with his pointer finger. "Adrenaline can increase sexual pleasure."

Light chooses to ignore his boyfriend as he continues to watch the movie, his slice of cake remaining untouched. Meanwhile, L was halfway through his second strawberry shortcake.

He hopes he chokes on it.

The movie ends, Sidney managing to survive, and during the credits, L takes the chance to say, "I knew it was those two. Frankly, they were a bit pathetic."

"They were also teenagers. Besides, why do you care? It's fictional," Light says, standing up so he can stretch, a sliver on his stomach exposed by his shirt rising. "Besides, Billy was obvious. And Stu ultimately helps because Billy needs him to, which was also obvious."

Before L can retort, Light picks up their discarded plates and utensils, bringing them into the kitchen to wash them. He hums as he does so, before he hears quiet noises from behind, followed by the lights turning off.

Groaning, Light turns the sink off and spins on his heel, frowning. "L, what the hell are you doing? I'm trying to tidy up."

He doesn't receive a response, which further irritates him, and Light makes his way into the living room, pressing a hand against the walls so he can get a feel of where he is exactly. The apartment is pitch black, the only light streaming in through the sliding doors of the balcony.

"L, this seriously isn't funny! You know I don't enjoy your little games." He steps further into the living room, nearly tripping over the coffee table. He has no idea where L is, and it's starting to piss him off.

Before Light can ask where the bastard is, he's met with the sound of quiet footsteps, and he turns only to see L practically lunge for him. He lets out a yell, barely dodging the attack, though L is quick to get right back to chasing Light around.

Light runs around the living room as carefully as he can with his psycho of a boyfriend chasing him, and he briefly considers calling his dad to set L straight. That thought is shoved out of his head whenever L finally tackles him onto the couch, Light's back hitting the cushions.

When he looks up, he's met with L's grin, the pale moonlight bathing him and making his pale skin glow. "Caught you," he says, crashing his lips onto Light's, and while at first he tries to push him away, Light eventually settles for kissing his boyfriend back.

It's stupid, how much Light loves this man. Utterly stupid, and yet somehow one of the best decisions he's ever made.

It's stupid whenever L pulls away, lips glistening with saliva and asks, "is your adrenaline spiked yet, dear?" with that insufferable smile on his lips, and it's even more stupid whenever Light's response is locking his legs around his boyfriend's waist, grinding their hips together.

"Bedroom, now," he demands, leaving no room for disagreement. Not that L would in the moment, whenever he has Light underneath him, cheeks flushed and mouth tasting like dark chocolate cake.

He scoops the younger man up in his arms, carrying him to their bedroom while somehow managing to avoid bumping into anything along the way.

They both discover just how good adrenaline makes sex feel.

Notes:

as mentioned in the tags, they're freaks (L especially, though light goes along with it). this is kind of rushed because my area is supposed to get hit by a storm (major storm anxiety haver here!) so i apologize if it isn't the best.

also, in october, i plan to post a different fic with a similar concept to this one, except it will be more gory and have more violence. it features ghostface L though,,,,

thanks for reading, and i hope you enjoyed ദ്ദി(。•̀ ᗜ<)
