Work Text:
-1 Day
David: Alexis. Roland's truck broke down. A nice Amish family took me in. I'm swallowing my pride and asking for help before my phone dies. The address is 299 Highway 47, Elmdale.
Day 1
Patrick: I keep meaning to tell you that Rachel loves the Pyrex bowl.
Marcy: It was my pleasure to let you two have it.
Marcy: I still remember teaching you how to mix.
Patrick: Dad, is she crying?
Marcy: Stop.
Clint: Yes.
~*~
Alexis: Klair, I'd normally never ask you for money, but I need to get out of here and you owe me big time.
Klair: Sorry babe, I got a new phone. Who is this?
~*~
Stevie: Twyla, you haven't seen David, have you?
Twyla: David Rose?
Stevie: Yeah.
Twyla: No. It's weird. He didn't come back with the Roses.
Stevie: Mr. Rose told me.
Twyla: If see him, I'll let you know you were looking for him!
Stevie: No, don't.
Stevie: Just. Let me know.
~*~
Rachel: Desiree, what do you think of this bird feeder?
Desiree: It's pretty! Are you and my cousin garden shopping?
Rachel: We are!
Desiree: I think it's lovely.
Rachel: Now I just need a ring. LOL.
Desiree: Oh.
Rachel: We've lived together a year and a half now...
Desiree: You have, haven't you?
Rachel: Becky Thompson just got engaged.
Desiree: I heard.
Rachel: OMG look at this gnome. Do you think we should buy it?
Desiree: What does Patrick think?
Rachel: I'm not sure.
Desiree: Ask him.
Rachel: What's up with you?
Desiree; Sorry. Up all night with a toddler.
~*~
Alexis: Stevie, I don't know what to do.
Stevie: I've called and texted everyone I can think of.
Alexis: Why?
Stevie: In case they've seen David.
Alexis: I'm so confused about the whole Ted situation.
Stevie: I need actual friends.
Alexis: You and me both, girl.
~*~
Bryan: I had dinner at Patrick and Rachel's tonight.
Desiree: How was it? I wish I didn't live an hour away now.
Bryan: Be glad you missed it.
Desiree: Oh no. Another fight.
Bryan: Partly because Rachel's friend got engaged. Who knows what else.
Desiree: Does anyone think their relationship is a good idea?
Bryan: Mom and Aunt Marcy love Rachel. So.
Desiree: Should we say something?
Bryan: Sometimes I think we should.
Desiree: But we can't.
Bryan: Right.
Desiree: Shouldn't we, though?
Bryan; No.
~*~
Alexis: Heyyy.
Patrick: Who is this?
Alexis: We don't know each other, but I need your help.
Patrick: I'm not in the mood for scammers.
Alexis: OMG I'm not a scammer.
Patrick: Sure.
Alexis: So like, my family and I are stuck in this terrible place. I really need you to deposit money into my bank account so I can get out of here. I promise I'll pay you back as soon as I can.
Patrick: No. I don't think so.
Alexis: What if I sent you nudes?
Patrick: Please don't. My girlfriend's mad enough as it is.
Alexis: Oh no, babe! What happened?
Patrick: How do you have a phone if you don't have any money?
Alexis: IDK.
Alexis: I'm having relationship problems, too.
Patrick: Have you tried not scamming people?
Alexis: That sounds like something he'd say.
Alexis: I want to have feelings for him.
Alexis: But I don't.
Alexis: I just really need to get out of here.
Patrick: I almost believe you.
Alexis: Yassss.
Patrick: I still can't help you. We're strangers. Have you reached out to friends? Family?
Alexis: Not really an option at the moment.
Patrick: Whatever you do, stop texting random numbers.
Patrick: You're not in any danger, are you? Do I need to call someone?
Alexis: No.
Alexis: Is mad cow disease still a thing? Because if so, maybe.
Day 2
Stevie: Heard anything, Ronnie?
Ronnie: Sorry, Stevie. I haven't.
Ronnie: I'm sure he's okay.
Stevie: I wasn't worried.
Ronnie: You seem worried.
Stevie: Well, I'm not.
Ronnie: Then why are you texting and calling all over town?
Stevie: He stole Roland's truck.
Ronnie: You're looking out for Roland?
Stevie: Exactly.
~*~
Patrick: Hey man. Sorry about last night.
Bryan: How are you this morning?
Patrick: Fine. We talked. Both of us had a long week at work.
Patrick: I think we need to leave the past behind and move forward.
Bryan: How are you going to do that?
Patrick: Communication. Commitments.
Bryan: Maybe you should worry less about commitments.
Patrick: What do you mean? That I should cheat? That's not happening.
Bryan: Whoa, Patrick. Of course not. I'd kill you if you did that to her.
Patrick: Good.
~*~
Stevie: David, I'm writing this with the help of liquid courage.
Stevie: I'm worried. I think your family is too, deep down. Very very deep down. In a dark cellar with Prada knockoffs. But the cellar exists.
Stevie: I've have too much liquid courage.
Stevie: I thought we were friends. Then you left. After I told you something personal.
Stevie: Just call me.
Ronnie: I'm not David.
Stevie: Fuck.
Incoming call from Ronnie.
~*~
Desiree: I love lasagna.
Patrick: Sure...
Desiree: I also love waffles.
Patrick: Me too.
Desiree: But I don't think lasagna and waffles work as a meal.
Patrick: Were you thinking of combining them?
Desiree: What I'm trying to say is, two things can be great. That doesn't mean they're great together.
Patrick: Is everything okay with you and Rodney?
Desiree: We're doing really well.
Patrick: What's wrong, then?
Desiree: Sorry. I'm sleep deprived.
Desiree: How did my mom raise both an infant AND a toddler? I owe her so much.
Patrick: Don't we all.
Desiree: Love you. xoxo
Day 3
Stevie: Thanks for last night.
Ronnie: Anytime.
Ronnie: I'm sure David will talk to you again once he gets back.
Stevie: I don't care.
Ronnie: I understand not wanting to care.
Ronnie: But it's okay to give a damn sometimes, you know?
Stevie: I do.
Ronnie: You've got this. I promise.
Stevie: Thanks.
~*~
Patrick: Checking in on you.
Desiree: I'm good. How are you?
Patrick: Good....
Patrick: Oh God, Bryan told you about the fight.
Desiree: Busted.
Patrick: It was a fight. We're going to be just fine.
Desiree: If you're sure.
Patrick: I'm sure.
Patrick: I've decided to propose.
Patrick: Dez?
Desiree: Is that what you want?
Patrick: Yes.
Desiree: Then I'll stay out of it, and so will Bryan.
Patrick: Was he also attempting a backdoor intervention?
Desiree: One more thing. Promise.
Patrick: Okay...
Desiree: When you gave a toast at my wedding, you said that Rodney and I deserved all the happiness in the world.
Desiree: You deserve the same.
Patrick: Thank you.
~*~
Ronnie: Heard you're back.
David: Who is this?
Ronnie: Ronnie Lee.
Ronnie: We shot turkeys together.
David: Great.
Ronnie: I know you've been through a lot. I know it's easy to run away from all of your problems. I've been there.
David: Do you have a point?
Ronnie: You've got to start letting people in.
David: Why would I do that?
Ronnie: Because you deserve happiness.
David: Thank you.
