Work Text:

Silk sheets.

As soft as they've ever been and too soft for them. Not enough to warm them, either, but still they wrapped and sheathed the two of them in the night. Bruce's hands trailed down Hailey's scarred cheek, and his sensitive fingers tripped over the deep, corrugated grooves of her new face. He felt her wounded skin move and shift and he wondered if he should even be touching her like this at all. Quickly, he let the thought leave his head, as if the mere thought entering his mind was an insult to the beautiful woman that lay beneath him. Still beautiful, despite what she says and despite how she feels. The Gotham moonlight peered the window to illuminate the burns on her face, and shrouded her "good" side in darkness. A new woman, whether she wanted to be or not.

"Hailey," Bruce caught himself saying without even noticing. Dampness fell on his finger as her wet lashes fanned her across her cheeks.

"Bruce," she responded. A choked-off word that betrayed how vulnerable she felt being with him again for the first time since her injury. He leaned into her and Hailey could only assume it was for a kiss, until he stopped just shy of her lips. Instead, he pressed his nose against her scarred skin and inhaled.

She smelled so good. Like sweat, and anticipation, and ink from the office she worked at. He kissed her, now. Lips so feather-light against her ruined flesh. The feeling was a bit strange, now. It was a texture he never felt before and it sent an unusual stir into his belly. He let out a shuddering breath and allowed himself to bask in the slightly-acidic scent that wafted off her. In that moment, he felt her tense. She curled in on herself, just a little, but more than enough for him to notice. She couldn't hide anything from him, even if she tried.

And God, did she try. Tried to be confident and pretend that she wasn't as disgusted with herself as the kids who screamed when they saw her walking down the street were. Tried to laugh and pretend that the "lighthearted" jabs at her physical appearance meant to lighten the mood didn't make her want to rip her skin off. Tried to hide her anger and hurt by throwing herself in her work. Maybe go work a criminal over a little rougher than she should, anything to give herself some purpose, some control over her life. This way she could hide from Bruce and make it seem like it was normal. But she knew more than anything that he would find out eventually. He just had that way about him.

"Beautiful," he whispered as he stroked what was left of her hair. "All mine," she trembled as he touched her.

She always did melt when he touched her. As a D.A, she had to learn how to be bold and confident no matter what the circumstances were. never show weakness. Especially here in Gotham.  You were supposed to "believe in Hailey Dent". With this weight on her shoulders (self-inflicted, she knew), there was no way she could give herself the freedom to be fragile. She had to be as strong and charismatic as Gotham needed her to be.

But when she was in here, lying unclothed in this beautiful man's bed, it was the only time she could just let go of it all. In between these silk sheets was the only place she could allow herself to be taken care of. And only within these walls would she ever expose her deepest desires to someone because deep down, in the darkest pits of her mind she tried to repress, she knew Bruce was hiding a secret life from her, too. Not just from her, but from the entire city of Gotham, and she knew that in here, he gave his truest self to her just as much as she did to him. A mutual relationship built just as much on lies as it is on trust.

As she turned to him, the satin sheets slipped down her shoulders to expose more of her "good" side. The skin there was pale, smooth, and unmarred. Or at least, marred with scars similar to the cuts and bruises that draped Bruce's back. The ones she loved ghosting her fingers over as he drove deep inside her when the noise at the office got too loud. The ones that kept coming and coming no matter how many times she told him to take it easy. She looked at the scar on his neck, and wished to put her own bruise there, too. Her hand reached up to Bruce's chest and she carded her stubby, burnt fingers through his wiry chest hair. She could barely feel it. Couldn't feel much of anything on that side. It was just cold. But the way he sucked in a breath showed that she was at least having an effect on him.

Gorgeous. He was just so unbelievably gorgeous with his chiseled jaw and his familiar grimace, now softened into a face that only she got to see. One with unbridled lust simmering just barely beneath the surface, combined with the tenderness and vulnerability of a man with the weight of an entire city resting on his shoulders. It gave her a great sense of pride knowing that she was the only woman who got to see him like that. That even after her injury, she still gets to see him like that. She pulled the blanket from her and gripped the back of Bruce's neck. Ebony locks carded through her fingers as she brought his head towards hers. Her lips crashed into his and her tongue forced it's way into his accepting mouth.

He always let her in. Always.

When she pulled back, the smile on Bruce's face was dazed, but quickly gave way to a lecherousness that was utterly irresistible on him. "Tell me you really want it," he was hesitating. He was doing that a lot now with her. "Tell me you're sure."

"Hmm," she hummed in faux-consideration, "I'm divided." Then, a bit sweeter this time, she pressed another kiss to the side of his mouth. "Should we flip a coin?" She said with a smirk.

Bruce returned her smile easily. "I've got some ideas." He said, as his hands trailed down the curves of her body. His gaze fell over her burnt shoulder, eyeing her up with a brazenness that was almost offensive. Then, his other hand followed, finding it's way to the other side of her body. She kind of hated when he did that. It was better when it was just the one side he paid attention to. One, or the other.

"Right here," she said as she pointed at her neck. Bruce took no time with latching his lips to her bruised flesh, licking and sucking her scorched skin as heat pooled deep in her belly. Bruce's hand slid towards her right breast, but she smacked his hand away and placed it on her left side.

"No. Stay here," she said, voice rougher than she realized. If Bruce felt weird about it, he didn't let on. Instead, he palmed her breast as he was told. Regrettably, he pulled away from her, and even in the waning moonlight, she could see the dark spot wetting his boxers as he leaned back on his heels.

Hailey was already naked. A habit she had taken to after the accident. Sleeping in clothes was rather uncomfortable now and it was just simpler to go to bed in the nude. It was a habit that Bruce definitely didn't mind, especially now. The only problem was that she was naked and he wasn't. He hooked his fingers in the waistband of his boxers and shimmied them down his hips. In this moment, she reached her scarred hand out and grasped him, smirking when she feels that he's already hard. Bruce let's out a strained grunt unlike one she's ever heard from him as she tugs at his manhood. interesting. The new sensation must be jarring for him. She's almost worried that it might be hurting him, that her new hands might be too rough and destroyed to touch normal flesh anymore. That was, until Bruce let out a shuddering breath coupled with a look of pure passion. Eyes blown and cheeks flushed, as if she's never touched him before.

Well, she hasn't touched him before. Not like this. Not as this. She pumped her hand a few times, the motion becoming smoother as his fluids coated the palm of her hand, until the only sound in the room was the wet slide of skin and the shaky breaths falling from Bruce's lips seemingly without his knowledge. Before she could finish him off, he gently moved her hand from him. Mercifully, as Bruce was only a few seconds away from losing himself.

Like a cat, Bruce crawled across the bedsheets until he was in between her legs. The murky shadows washed over him as he stalked closer to her, somehow balancing bestial aggression and willing submission in a way only he could. Sinfully, his muscles shifted beneath his skin as he found himself face-to-face with her womanhood. Bare and glistening even in the dull night. Tentatively, he swiped his tongue over her folds, and hummed to himself as her slick coated his lips. The taste of her was as heavenly as it's always been, and Bruce wondered why he even thought it wouldn't. Boldly, he buried his face in her and lapped at her unashamedly. Her juices dripped down his face and his member leaked against his stomach as he ground himself into the bed.

"Bruce!" She gasped as her knees clamped around his head. Her orgasm washed over her as he continued lapping at her, drawing moan after moan from from her swollen mouth as she rode out her pleasure on his tongue.

With a lewd pop, he lifted his dewy face from between her legs and stared at her like a man possessed.

"I know, Hailey."

With both hands braced on either side of her head, he pressed himself against her silky entrance. Bruce wasn't the type of man to ask twice. Hell, he was barely the type of man to ask for it once. So with nothing but his dark and pleading eyes gazing at her, he pushed himself inside her. Slowly, inch by inch almost as if he was afraid of hurting her.

Christ. She felt even better than he remembered. Had it really been that long between them? His mind starts to wander until he finds himself fully sheathed inside her tight heat. A soft breath fell from his lips as he stretched her so deeply and fully to the point of near pain, until he pulled his hips back and plunged back into her again. And again. And again and again as hard as he could.

As if he couldn't handle the pleasure that was wracking him, his arms gave out and his chest fell down on hers. He wrapped his arms around her back and pressed his body flush against her "bad" side. The new position made her cry out in pleasure, pain, and longing and at this point Hailey could barely tell the difference between the three emotions, but Bruce swallowed it all, regardless. Took in every bit of her as he laced his fingers with her's and placed them above her head. Hailey, ready for him to attack her neck again, lifted her chin to give him more access to her. Bruce, however took her hand and placed it to his mouth. She looked up at him with questioning eyes, until he slipped her burnt stubs past his lip and deep into the damp, warmth of his mouth. His tongue wrapped around her charred finger as he hummed around her hand, looking down at her with devilish delight. He sucked on her finger as hard as he could as he ground himself against her. He licked her all over where her skin used to be and stared deep at her while he did it, silently challenging her. Daring her to even think that he finds her new body disgusting.

"Bruce, please. I can't take anymore," she gasps under him. She didn't even know what she was saying, not even aware of how much she was babbling. She didn't care either.

He got the memo and grunted loudly as he pounded into her as hard as he could now. He released her fingers to press his lips right over her ear wound.

"Yes you can, Hailey. I believe in you," he whispers in her ear, voice dangerously low and starting to sound like someone else. Just one more time, she groans and shakes as she finishes for the last time tonight. Bruce gave three more thrusts before his knees buckled and he released himself inside her. Panting and sweating, they both collapse next to each other.

The post-sex haze between them is different, now. Heavier than it used to be. Bruce turns to her with lidded eyes.

"You'll stay right, Hailey?" And she of course catches the wistful glint in his eye.

"I don't know," she lies. "I'm of two minds about it." She says with a smirk that Bruce has no clue is one hundred percent true.
