Summary
In her travels, Jagoda comes across a fief that seems to be suffering under its noble leadership. Jagoda has not had much cause in which to actually use her title and the authority it grants her before. But with a whole valley of people falling through the cracks, she will not turn a blind eye. How deep will she have to dive into politics to set things right- and will the fact that she's a werewolf complicate things further?
Excerpt:
"As she nears the middle of the valley, and starts to see more lived-in and occupied areas, she meets other people. Most are out working in the fields, as it is mid day, but there are a few people going about with carts and mules and carrying things to and fro. She smiles and waves and greets anyone who pays her attention. She does get a few odd looks, most of those being people eyeing her broach or the daggers on her belt.
No one tries to strike up any sort of conversation, and she is just in the middle of deciding whether or not she should try and approach someone to ask after there being any inn of sorts in the valley, when she hears the screaming start."

Jagoda travels to Ellander, where family of the lady Fillipina who she lived with in Vizima lives.
On her way she comes through a valley of half starved people whose taxes are way too high.
She goes to Ellander and figures out that the noble supposedly in charge is set up to take the fall, along with Fillipina, for neglecting the valley, when really his real demands aren't heeded and letters don't reach him - the other nobles are mad they weren't punished along with Fillipina's husband for his part in Henselt's folley.Jagoda gets Hubert to buy livestock and accompany its transport to the valley. On the way, the convoy is attacked, Jagoda kills most of the assailants and captures three without revealing herself. The three say they're not the leaders and had orders to kill livestock and frighten, but others had targets including sir Jagoda.
Jagoda only explains that she's hard to injure, but later tells Hubert the truth that she's a werewolf, and that his mother knows too.They reach the village, an injured starved villager dies, Jagoda vows vengeance. Getting her letter, Ilhan wants to get to her so she doesn't go against her principles.
Unexpected visitors: the Earl Wieslaw, little lord Brajan a brother of the Earl and cousin of Hubert, knights and healer Master Apolinary. Brajan is sent by the Earl to go to Hubert when Jagoda interrupts their path. Brajan attacks Jagoda thinking she's a low born showing him disrespect, and when Hubert tells him who she is, lets slip that the Duchess said these things about Jagoda to an unknown person when he was eavesdropping.
Attackers from the Earls entourage want to get to Jagoda and Hubert, accidentally injure Seraphina as she portals in. The Earl isn't behind the attacks.
More witchers and Yennefer and Triss show up to help, Hubert is fearful of Eskel, who killed his father after Henselt's folly.
Ilhan opts to stay behind with Jagoda despite being injured from the closing portal, while the rest go to Ellander. -
