Summary
After the Olympics Shane and Ilya reconnect and keep hooking up casually when they can. The Boston Raiders win the Stanley Cup that season.
One year later the Raiders are once again in the final, this time battling it out against their arch rivals the Montreal Metros. The clock is counting down the final seconds, and it all comes down to this - one last face off.
In that brief period of suspended time before the puck dropped, Shane willed his brain to think of a chirp that would shock Rozanov and give him that split second he needed to ensure he got there first. He could do it. Rozanov did it all the time. He just needed his brain to come up with something. Anything.

06/19/26 Ch1 - “I love you” comes 2 years earlier
Once the door closes Rozanov immediately pushes him up against the wall, grabbing him by the front of his shirt, “What the fuck Hollander? What the fuck was that? That is some psychological warfare bullshit!”
When he speaks again his words start as a shout and fade to something softer, “This is not fucking joke Hollander! It is not a fucking joke to say that to someone. To say they are loved when they are not.”
Shane goes to interrupt and Rozanov quickly places his hand over his mouth. “No mouthy boy. I think you have said enough, no? My turn now.” -
