Chapter Text
In an alleyway...
A swirling liquid of blue light falls from above the clouds. It hits the concrete and disintegrates a tiny hemisphere into the ground, just the depth of a pointer finger.
The energy collected in the form of a person, a woman with dark grey, nearly black hair, wearing a suit of grey armor. She stood from her kneeling position and looked around,
'Who am I? Where is this place? Why do I only know basic things, the types of buildings... seemingly all the most used languages... what does that have to do with me personally?'
She saw a man in too-large attire sitting next to a dumpster right as he started to clap; "What a light show! I've never seen any mystical weirdo teleport like that!"
The armor-wearing lady heard several more voices in her head than just her own. 'What a poor man, living in a dumpster...' 'Damn it, you should've snuck away.' 'Ehh, looooks liiike a drugggieee!' 'Might rob us.'
The homeless man kept talking, "You alright there? You're spacin' out like an idiot." He said, leaning on a wooden stick, about four feet long at most.
'A lie.. I need a lie!'
'Tell him it was a... mishap.'
She shook her head and smiled slightly, "Ah, I'm quite fine, I just had a mishap with my abilities! I'll be out of your hair soon." The man opened the dumpster (upon closer look, it was much more like a large metal box) and pulled out a necklace with a piece of obsidian on the end of it.
"Take it, it'll help you when you're at your lowest." The homeless man said, holding it out. The lady took it hesitantly. The man tipped his wide-brimmed hat and asked: "What's your name?"
The lady thought it over for a moment.
"Darck."
The man closed his crate, "Kien."
When Darck turned around, she heard a breath of wind and glanced back to see that both the man and the crate were gone. Instead, there was just a white outline of where the crate would be.
'What in the world? Is he magic?'
Darck looked out of the alleyway and saw... many things. Ghosts, ghouls, monsters, spirits.
She walked down the sidewalk and saw the monsters phase through the normal people. So she decided to ignore them until a skeletal hand grabbed her leg, which was attached to something in the sewers.
"Aye! Let me go!" Darck said, shaking the hand off.
When the civilians should've seen Darck struggling against nothing, their eyes went blank, and as soon as they looked away, their eyes went back to normal.
The bone hands seemingly got scared and tried retreating, but a projectile made of orange light flew into the sewer and exploded the underground pipes. Darck saw a manhole cover get blasted away, but strangely, it was more like... an overlay of the world that was translucent and inverted whatever color was behind it.
The manhole cover fell and phased through the civilians, just like the rest of the supernatural world. Darck felt a presence behind her and turned around to see that the person who shot the skeleton thing was holding a strange rifle-sword combination.
The boy was around five feet and two inches, being a whole foot & inch shorter than Darck, his hair was orange, and he seemingly had the ears of a bat where human ears would be.
"Hello," the bat-eared boy said, "You can obviously see me, so I must ask, why do I sense multiple spirits inside you?" He asked Darck, making the strange weapon he was holding turn into an empty holster on his waist.
”Uhm… even I didn’t know it was multiple spirits, I thought I just… had multiple minds?”
The boy looked at her deadpan.
”Yep, you’re coming with me.” His tone was deathly serious.
Darck frowned and looked him up and down, noticing a medallion on his jacket that said his name: ‘Garrah.’
“Yeah, I truly think I should decline that.”
Garrah frowned deeply and pulled out his weapon. “That wasn’t a request, it was an order!”
Darck quickly drew a longsword from what seemed like nowhere and clashed with Garrah; his movements were as quick as lightning and hit about as hard as missiles.
She pushed back with all her might and sent Garrah backwards with supernatural might. Garrah was flung into a car, and a paranormal replica of the car was moved instead of the real thing.
Darck glanced down at her sword and clenched her grip.
’With what I’ve seen so far… anything supernatural has a weapon or tool it can call upon, including me.’
’Including us, we’re in here as well.’
Darck shook her head and saw Garrah getting back up and shifting his grip so that his hand was on a part of his weapon without a sharp edge. Darck had only seven eighths of a millisecond to react before the bullet(?) was almost about to hit her…
She smacked her blade into it and sent it under her arm, nearly nicking her armor. Garrah gaped at her; “How!? You had at most a millisecond to react! It doesn’t matter the distance, my bullets will always get there in one thousandth of a se-“
Darck used the ramble to charge and pommel bash him in the sternum, making a loud ~CRACK~ sound.
“GAH! That’s it… I’ll show you my weapon’s true power!”
”What?”
”PARA-TRUT!”
Garrah’s weapon transformed into an entire artillery cannon that looked like it could blast away a skyscraper. This thing was massive, the barrel was a whole foot wide and a hundred feet long, including the base (which was attached to Garrah’s arm like a cybernetic limb), it must’ve weighed a kilotonne!
Darck had to block an entire super-cannon heading towards her, taking the full brunt of the thing’s weight. She swore her arms almost broke, but Garrah laid off. He jumped on the roof of a skyscraper and started charging it.
Darck, logically, jumped after Garrah, but he swung the cannon, and it was now pointed straight at her face. She grabbed the barrel to point it under her, but it was too late, and she only got it to her chest…
Darck got shot right in her chest; her armor was getting shredded as she rocketed towards the ground at many times the speed of sound.
She hit the hard concrete of the street and felt heat engulf her as she passed out.
Darck opened her eyes to find that she was in some kind of internal world, with a rather large platform cut into five pieces being the main area.
In the middle were four other versions of herself. One in a fancy ballroom dress, a second in full jet black attire, another in modern casual wear, and the last one, which was in the dress you would sooner see an 1800s cow wrangler in than a modern-day supernatural being in.
The fancy-looking one spoke first: “Oh! What has happened in the real world? Should one of us switch?”
“I’m up,” the all-black one said, “I can totally take that idiot down.”
The one in cowboy attire quietly stood up and walked towards the door that the armor-wearing Darck came in from.
She stepped through, and suddenly her body was all healed up.
”Oh, wow, that’s interesting.” The noble Darck said, putting a finger to her chin.
“I thiiiiinnk,” the drunken one said, “Weeee should giiiive eeeaachootheeer naaamees!”
The noble nodded, “I shall be called Noble from now on.”
”Knight.” The armored one stated, confident.
“I guess I’ll be Ninja.” The brooding ebony-clothed one said.
“Aaaawweeesoomeee ooonneee!” The drunkard said.
“Drunk,” Ninja said, rolling her eyes.
”With that, I believe we should call the ‘cowboy-esque’ one Gunwoman.”
Garrah panted and squinted to see through the dust blown into the air by the whole block-destroying blast.
Suddenly, a voice echoed out from the destruction: "You're inacturate, should've hit the head."
Garrah couldn't even blink before a bullet had pierced straight through his eye and gone out the back of his head.
He stumbled backwards as his Para-Trut dissipated back into the holster. Darck glared over at the building he was on as his weapon transformed into its useless state.
"Interesting"
Darck was stabbed in the back and lifted off the ground by an orange bayonet. Fog rolled in as one of the clouds seemingly opened up, and she was carried inside, still on the bayonet's tip.
'Wha... the blade stopped my blee...ding... where...?'
The door closed, and the room they were in went dark.
