Find the Lady

Summary:

The first time she was born, she was from Magdala in Roman Judea. She stood beside Yehoshua through his life, his death, his rebirth, and all those of hers. She is the first and last human to ever be reincarnated in God's universe. Over the past 2000 years, between watching human society develop and being hunted for sport, she’s become less and less sure this decision was worth it.
(TLDR This follows a reincarnating Mary Magdalene in the Good Omens universe, who meets the main characters at various points. She eventually joins up with the main story.)

Chapter 1: (Prologue) A Letter to Mr. Fell

Summary:

In a different but familiar universe, a bookshop patron writes a note to an employee and leaves it in a book.

Notes:

If you by some slim chance read an unfinished Magnus Archives Good Omens crossover fic with my name on it four years ago, no you didn’t.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Dear Asa,

I hope your day is going well. I’m putting a note here to apologize for keeping this so long! I promise I’ll buy a different book to make up for it (or a good few books - I’m going to start researching my dissertation soon), and I promise not to tell Derrick!

Seriously, it was so nice of you to loan it, especially on the day I was having. I'm also so sorry for causing a commotion in the shop. This is a little personal but I feel like I should give an explanation: I apparently had the first migraine I’ve ever had in my life that afternoon, and I was in pain and disoriented. It doesn’t excuse the crying, though, and you really didn’t have to let me borrow the book. You’re a real angel.

I hope you know that even though you don't own it, this place feels so special because of your friendliness. It’s always a highlight to shop here. I’m going to leave this on the counter because I’m still a little embarrassed, but we should talk about this book when I come back. I don’t know if you’re interested in religious studies, but I personally didn’t know the medieval cult of Mary Magdalene was such an interesting lens through which to view the time period as a whole.

Thanks again,
Phoenix

Notes:

First actual chapter coming soon! Gotta go read some of the Bible lol
