Work Text:
A Reddie story but Richie finds something about Eddie that he wasn’t meant to.
This is in the present. They’re both Sixteen and they’re dating.
Eddie and his boyfriend, Richie, were hanging out at Eddie’s house. Luckily enough, Sonia had gone on a trip for a month as him and Eddie weren’t on the best terms. Eddie was sat on his windowsill while Richie was sat on a beanbag reading a comic. Richie looked up and said,
“Hey Eds, are you okay? You’re really quiet”
“Yes!” He said harshly.
“Woah, no need for the attitude, spaghetti”
“Don’t fucking call me that, I’m fine”
“Well you’re obviously not”
“Fuck off, I’m fine!”
They both went silent and stopped talking.
All of the sudden, Richie got a phone call.
He was saying a couple “Yeah”s and
“Okay”s until all of the sudden he put his phone down and started getting up. Eddie looked over and said “What’re you doing?” while Richie started grabbing his bag.
“Bev asked me to hang out and I said yes”
“I thought that we were hanging out”
“Yeah, me too. Bye Ed’s!”
Eddie was shocked, how could he be dumped on like that? Although they weren’t talking, Eddie liked the company.
AT THE CLUBHOUSE
It was just him and Bev luckily, Richie didn’t want to hang out with a couple of people. Richie had just arrived and Bev said,
“Hey Rich, you alright?”
Richie nodded.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing”
“You look miserable right now, what’s wrong?”
“It’s Eddie”
“Eddie?”
“Yeah, I was just at his house and he was really sad and I was asking if he was okay and he got pissed at me and told me to fuck off”
“That doesn’t seem like Eddie”
“I know”
“Go back”
“What?”
“Go back to Eddie. If he’s sad and he’s not telling you why then you can’t just accept it, if you want to be there for him and support him then you don’t give up!”
Ur right Bev, thanks!” Richie grabbed his bag and started sprinting to Eddie’s house.
He made it to Eddie’s house and tried opening the door but it was locked. He climbed up to Eddie’s window and saw Eddie with dark red blood running down his wrists, looking defeated.
“EDDIE!” Richie started banging on Eddie’s window while his hands were going red.
“EDDIE LET ME THE FUCK IN NOW!”
Eddie didn’t budge.
He went back to the front door and noticed a window opened, he climbed through and ran to Eddie’s room, it was locked.
“EDDIE OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR!”
Silence. He started pushing and pushing himself against the door until eventually the door burst open. Richie instantly looked down to Eddie.
“Rich…help me” Eddie whispered.
“I-I will, I just need to get some stuff”
He sprinted to the bathroom grabbing towels and bandages and supplies to help Eddie the best he could.
He came back and rolled up the rest of Eddie’s sleeves to see way more cuts.
“Fuck, Eddie” Richie said starting to press the towels on his wrists.
“I-I’m sorry”
“No, I’m sorry. How could I have not noticed sooner?”
“It’s not your fault, Richie”
Richie put the towels to the side and started grabbing the bandages.
“You forgot the alcohol” Eddie said.
“Not a time to drink, Eddie.”
“No, for my wounds”
“Oh, well of course you know Dr K”
“You’re the one being a doctor right now”
“True” He said as he grabbed the alcohol. “This is going to sting I think”
“You think?”
“It’s what I read on google once” Richie said making Eddie laugh a bit.
“FUCK, RICHIE! THAT HURTS!”
“Yeah no shit Sherlock, I told you”
He then started wrapping the bandages around Eddie’s arms.
“Thanks Rich”
“You’re welcome Eds”
Richie then got a phone call, it was Bev.
He messaged her saying he can’t call and she just asked if Eddie was okay.
“Why is she asking if I was okay?”
“Because I told her that you were sad”
Richie didn’t reply instead he put his phone down. He hugged Eddie and kissed him on the forehead.
“I love you Ed’s, don’t forgot that okay?”
“Okay, I love you too”
“I am always here to talk, whenever you want to do that just call me instead and I’ll come right away”
“Thank you”
“Always”
It was quite late and they had decided to go to bed. Richie wrapped his arms around Eddie to show that he was safe and he’s got him. Richie wasn’t planning on letting go anytime soon, he was too scared.
