A Light At Sea

Summary:

With the first leg of their journey to Wally's Tavern almost over, a night's rest is soon interrupted by a glowing light in the distance.

Notes:

This is gonna be maybe 2-3 chapters since it's been a bit since I wrote something for my Pirate AU. I haven't forgotten it but ideas kinda slip by the wayside when other ideas and life in general happens.

I've been wanting Blitz's crew to meet Satan's crew for a while and Bee, being the personable demon that she is, would be more than happy to say hello and offer some good food to Blitz and his crew. And we've got some more lore with Ozzie at least knowing about Stolas since he's a fellow Goetia and Fizz's friendship with Blitz will be explored here.

We're almost at the Tavern but I figured Blitz could use some allies since this journey is going to be a big one when everything comes together.

And of course we can't have a Helluva Boss fic without Blitz trying to look cool but looking like a doofus XD

Chapter 1: Meeting of the Crews

Chapter Text

“Alright in the next day or so, we should reach the port town where Wally’s Tavern is,” Blitz told his crew.

“Thank Lucifer for that…my legs could use the break,” Moxxie sighed in relief.

“Good thing we’re hitting some land soon,” Loona added, looking warily at the galley. “We’re running low on food and booze.”

“I apologize for making your wares run lower quicker than usual,” Stolas fretted, his shoulders drooping slightly. “If we come across an island with any food or fresh water in the future, I will be more than happy to assist in supply runs.”

“That’s much appreciated, Lord Stolas,” Millie smiled brightly, kicking her feet off the side of the ship. “I love bein’ at sea but exploring new islands or port towns is always a hoot!”

“I find seeing new places a ‘hoot’ as well,” the nobleman joked, hooting in response and making his new friends laugh.

“Ahh you’re a funny guy, Stolas!” Blitz grinned before stretching his back. “Well we better get some shuteye. We’ve got a long day of sailing tomorrow if we wanna get to that island before dusk the next day.”

The group agreed as they headed below deck, Stolas hanging back for a brief moment to look out at the ocean to the captain’s confusion. “I…I know I should be happy we’re going to be getting some answers at this tavern but…I’m nervous,” the tall owl admitted.

“I can’t blame ya,” Blitz nodded, surprising the owl. “You’ve been through a lot of shit so it’s gonna feel fuckin’ weird getting at least SOME answers. Hell, I’m still trying to find answers for what I’m looking for out here…” He then looked up at his new comrade with a big grin. “But our journey together ain’t over yet. We’ll find who did this to ya and kick their asses across the Seven Seas of Hell.”

Stolas let out a small laugh before placing a hand on Blitz’s shoulder. “Thank you, my friend. I know you didn’t expect to have a new companion on your voyage but I’m glad you were able to welcome me here,” he told him.

Blitz felt his face heat up before coughing a bit. “W-Well let’s get to bed, eh?” he laughed nervously, awkwardly walking to the lower decks of the ship with Stolas following behind.

The first leg of their journey might be nearing an end but their adventure wasn’t over just yet. They’d figure out who hired the thugs that kidnapped and poisoned Stolas and bring him back to his daughter. Blitz wasn’t exactly a fan of hoity-toity types but knowing their friend wanted to go back just for his kid really says a lot.

As a father himself, Blitz could respect that.

Loona was tossing and turning in her sleep, not exactly comfortable sleeping on a moving ship, but something else was keeping her awake. From the crack in the wood on the ship, she saw a bright light shining inside right on her face. Even covering her face didn’t help since she knew it was there.

‘It can’t be fucking morning already…’ she thought, grumbling as she got up to investigate.

She trudged out of the crew quarters to see if the sun was being an asshole rising already but to her surprise, it was still dark aside from a bright light in the distance. In all their travels and all the weird shit she had seen, Loona never saw anything like that before. Not wanting to risk anything catching them off-guard, the young hellhound cook quickly knocked on her dad’s door to get his attention.

“Muh…too early…” Blitz groaned, perking up when he saw Loona looking at him with a worried expression. “Loona? What’s going on? Are you hurt? Sick? Did sea horses finally prove their existence?” he asked.

“No. No. And I told you sea horses look like little dragons, not actual horses,” she sighed before pointing to a bright light coming from the starboard side of the ship. “There’s something weird out there that’s keeping me from sleeping.”

Blitz pulled out his spyglass and ran to the side of the ship to get a closer look. “Damn you’re right! It’s a ship!” he told her.

“Do they look like a threat?” Loona wondered, readying her sword if necessary.

“Hard to say but they’re being pretty inconsiderate shining a light when we’re tryin’ to sleep,” Blitz tutted before taking a deep breath and screaming out in the distance. “HEY! TURN DOWN YOUR LIGHTS! WE’RE TRYING TO FUCKING SLEEP!”

Loona plugged her ears from her dad’s shouting. “Yeah…I’m sure they’re gonna hear that…” she snarked before her ears perked up. “Wait…either I’m fucking exhausted or that light is getting closer.”

Blitz gasped as he saw the bright light starting to move towards them. “Oh shit what if it’s one of those anglerfish seamonsters?” he cursed, turning to her with a serious expression. “Get Millie and Moxxie up. If Stolas asks what’s going on, tell him to stay in his quarters until we give him the all clear.”

“Aye aye captain,” Loona nodded, running back down below.

Blitz held out his sword, ready to fight whatever was heading towards their little ship. It might’ve been late and he was tired and hungry as fuck but he wasn’t about to let anyone mess with their voyage. “Come on ya glowy bastard! Come for me!” he snarled.

But to his surprise, it wasn’t a sea monster charging at them.

It was a bee-like Fennec Fox Hellhound gliding towards their ship with an apologetic smile. “So sorry about the light bothering you and your crew,” she told him. “We were having dinner and didn’t realize anyone was out around these parts.”

“Oh…uh…okay,” Blitz replied, slowly putting his sword back.

The rest of his crew and Stolas came onto the deck ready for a fight but were surprised to see not a monster but a flying hellhound. “Aww…I was hopin’ for a fight,” Millie pouted.

“Well our crew has been known to be good sparring partners if you want a good match,” the hellhound woman offered with a bright smile.

“Who are you, fair lady?” Moxxie asked.

“Name’s Beelzebub. Proud head chef of Satan’s Crew!” Bee told them, eagerly shaking their confused hands. “But you can call me Bee!”

“Satan? Wait…is Fizzarolli still sailing with you guys?” Blitz asked.

“Fizz? Oh yeah he’s been a lot of fun on our voyage!” Bee replied. “You wanna say hi? We’ve got plenty of food too if y’all are hungry.”

The simultaneous stomach growls from Blitz and his crew answered that question quickly, making Bee laugh a bit as she flew back over the side of the boat. Blitz went to steer the boat towards the larger vessel as everyone took their positions on deck. Stolas, not really sure what to do, decided to follow Blitz up to the helm of the boat.

“Do you…know them?” Stolas wondered.

“A few. My old friend Fizzarolli became an entertainer on their crew a while back. One of Satan’s former crew mates is actually who we fought before rescuing you,” Blitz explained.

“Oh dear…is this safe?” the owl noble asked.

“Oh yeah they’re more focused on finding their own missing captain. They don’t usually bug other ships unless they’re stupid enough to attack first,” Blitz laughed.

Stolas was still a little worried but he put his trust into the imp captain once so he would once more. He hadn’t led him astray yet.

“Where did Bee fly off to now?” Satan groaned, rubbing his temples in frustration.

“I’m sure she’ll be back any moment…” Belphegor reassured him in her usual sleepy way.

“Ya think the lights on our ship might be a little too bright?” Ozzie wondered as Fizz wrapped his arms around the surgeon.

“Pssh! We’re out at sea! Who’d be crazy enough to be out in these waters?” Fizz laughed, perking up when he heard a familiar voice calling him.

“FIZZ! FIZZAROLLI!”

“Apparently that voice,” Leviathan snarked. “Is that a friend of yours?”

Fizz jumped down from Ozzie’s back and ran to the side of the boat to see a smaller ship being guided towards them by Bee. To his delight, it was his old friend at the helm waving at him with a big grin. “Holy shit! Blitz!” he laughed in disbelief, waving him over.

Wanting to make an entrance, Blitz climbed up the mast of his ship and grabbed onto a rope to swing over. He made a fairly clean swing that impressed most of Satan’s crew.

*THUNK*

Right before smacking into their own mast and sliding down the pole and landing with a thud as everyone winced in sympathy.

“Ow…” Blitz groaned.

“Do you need medical assistance?” the sheep Sin offered, helping the imp captain to his feet.

“Thanks but I’m used to it,” Blitz laughed weakly before turning around and opening his arms. “Fizzy!”

“Blitz!” Fizz grinned, tackling his old friend into a hug. “It’s so good to see you! Look at you! You’re a captain of your own ship!”

“Yep! I finally did it!” the taller imp smiled proudly before nudging his friend with his elbow. “And look at you sailing with one of the biggest crews on Hell’s Seven Seas! Pirate life ain’t so bad now, is it?”

Fizz rolled his eyes before chucking his friend in the arm. “I’m an entertainer, jackass,” he smirked before looking over at his ship. “Wow! That’s a really nice boat!”

“Thanks! Maybe I’ll get a bigger one once we get more treasure but for now, it’s suiting our needs,” he told him before perking up. “Oh! I wanna introduce you to my crew!”

Bee was helping fly everyone onto the deck of Satan’s ship since it was much larger than Blitz’s boat. Millie was wide-eyed and curious at the larger boat while Moxxie looked intimidated being around so many of the Sins. Loona was hoping they could get some real food before going to sleep while Stolas felt a little awkward being on another pirate ship.

“I’d like to introduce you all to Millie, first mate and certified badass–”

“Pleasure to meetcha!” Millie winked.

“Moxxie, my bard and common sense–”

“I can play a mean instrument,” Moxxie smiled nervously.

“Loona our navigator/cook and bestest daughter in the world–”

“Ease up on the compliments, dad,” Loona told him, though her tail swishing showed she didn’t hate the compliment.

“And the newest member of our crew–!”

“Stolas?”

Everyone turned to see Ozzie looking at Stolas with stunned surprise. “A-Ah…hello Asmodeus…” Stolas bowed.

“You two know each other?” Blitz blinked, utterly confused.

“Of course. He’s a fellow Goetia,” Stolas replied.

“Well while we’re all getting to know each other, how about I fix you all some food?” Bee offered, figuring food would be a good way to lighten the mood.
