Chapter Text

Its cold really cold
Xie lian thought it wouldn’t be cold tonight since it was sunny all day but his luck made it hard to predict things so thats how he found himself
shivering behind a bush trying to fall asleep but failing miserably.
But its not like its his first time freezing like this he just has to endure it, its not like he can die of freezing to death

When he turned his head he saw a beautiful silver butterfly, it seemed to be shining. After it passed him he laid back on the ground trying to fall asleep.

He stayed like this quite awhile before hearing something snap. He tried to look in which direction the sound came from but it was too dark to see anything at this point so he just settled on shouting .

“Who is there?!” came out of his mouth not too loud but if anyone had been around they should be able to hear.

“….” nothing had returned but he could hear steps somewhere behind him.

Xie lian had turned around ready to let ryoue free when he saw a face of a stranger, a young one most probably not a threat but he still had ryoue ready just if he was wrong

“Who are you what are you doing here?” Xie lian said calmly

“I am seeking somewhere to rest”

“But it’s cold don’t t you have warm places to rest young man?”

“I was asked of my family to leave” he paused looking down before starting again “so I don’t”

Oh.

Now Xie lian felt a tad guilty for asking. Maybe he can make a new friend.?

“Would you like to stay here with me?” Realizing how that sounded Xie lian quickly added “since it would probably be better not to stay alone”

“Yes, company wouldn’t be bad” he replied quite quickly

Xie lian sat back down on the ground waiting for the young man to do the same
as he did so Xie lian asked

“What's your name young man?”

“Well i am the third sibling, they call me San lang”

“Well its nice to meet you San lang”

They stared at each other for a while before Xie lian decided he's getting quite tired of traveling without rest the past week so he lays down he's not sure what but something about the young m- San lang makes him feel safe so it doesn't take long before he starts drifting to sleep.
.
.
.
.
The next day Xie lian wakes up before San lang does turning to look at him taking in how he looks -he has pitch black hair tied into a ponytail and beautiful red robes his face was rather handsome by Xie lians wiew-

He laid back down for a while waiting for San lang to wake up.

.
.
When they were both awake they took theyre thing deciding to travel together because company never hurt anyone did it?

.
.
.
They end up on a road in a forest. The road is quite wide and the grass is peeking at the sides.
They’re walking next to each other with Xie lian just a bit behind, he doesn't know what to say since they already talked.
As he was looking around he saw a ox cart that was piled with hay, he tapped San lang on the shoulder then signaled to the cart.
San lang seemed to understand and whey went to ask for a ride so they wouldn’t have to walk.

They climbed on taking a seat on each side.
And then Xie lian realized… he hadn’t even tested if this is isn’t some elaborate setup wich he should’ve done have since when he called out to him the night before San lang hadn’t responded plus he didn’t hear breathing, but if it was a setup wouldn't San lang already hurt him?

He should just stop thinking and test it, and if he is a ghost maybe he’s a good ghost right?

“San lang?”

“What is it?” San lang replied.

“Have you ever got your fortune told?” Xie lian asked.

“No” he replied turning his face to look at Xie lian.

“Do you want me to give me a session?” Xie lian asked and if you looked closely you could see San langs mouth twitch into a small smile.

“Do you want to give me a session?”

“A little bit yeah”

“Sure” San lang said giving a small nod.

He sat up now his whole body facing Xia lian and asked “how do you want to read my fortune?”

“What about palm reading?”

At hearing that San langs smile twitch into a different type of smile, it was hard to tell what that smile meant but before Xie lian could dwell on that San langs replied with a quick “Sure”

He then extended his hand to Xie lian. His hand was clean and elegant but you could also see that there was strength hidden beneath, Xie lian took San langs hand with his bringing it to his face to study it.

His hand was soft to the touch and Xie lian could see clearly due to the sun shining brightly in the sky, Xie lian quietly studied San langs hand as the cart slowly started moving upwards a hill.

“So?”

“You have a good hand”

“Really? How so?”

Xie lian looked into San langs face and said “You have a strong character, stuborn, but whenever you run into obstacles you remain true to yourself and manage to transform the bad to good. You have limitless well of good fortune, your future is bright and full of success”

That was all a lie Xie lian made it u since he never learned how to read fortunes, what he really needed San langs hand for was to inspect if he had fingerprints and palm prints because normal ghosts and monsters could turn into a human form but normally overlooked small details.
Thought San langs hand appeared normal so he slowly let go of it.

The only ones that could master this would be ghost kings but Xie lian doubts a ghost king would be traveling with him.

“Anything else?” San langs replied asked.

*how more does he want me to make up?* Xie lian thought and replied with “Is there anything specific you want to know?”

“Don’t fortune tellers normally talk about love or marriage?” San lang asked.

“I am not that great at palm reading so I couldn’t tell you but i am sure you don’t have to worry about that” Xie lian replied solemnly.

“Why do you think so?”

“There must be tons of girls that like you”

“Why do you suppose theres tons of gurls that like me?”

Xie lian was about to reply before he thought *wait is San lang trying to get a compliment out of me?” He rubed his forehead and said

“San lang…”

San lang chuckled in delight at that and then they just waited in silence for the cart to stop somewhere to continue their journey.
