Summary
Being a woman in the West was never easy. Winifred Magnus lived a life that many women faced; forced into a loveless marriage and pressed under the thumb of a man.
The deep mountain life took away the cruel man who'd been Winifred's husband, leaving her to fend for herself in harsh winter climate. As the ground began to thaw, as did the threat of wealthy men looking to take her land or her life.
Arthur Morgan stumbled upon the fearful woman one winter night while hiding from his outlaw life. The magnet of a woman kept drawing him near, despite the danger of her in his life.
As Arthur opened up the possibilities of another life, Winifred found herself forced into deciding what kind of life she'd want to live: Hide away from the cruel men of her past and make something of herself in the city, or follow Arthur into his life of deceit and danger.
