Dennis stood near the door, he was listening quietly to see if they were talking. He seen ogilivie and joy walk past him. Joy stopped and looked at Dennis.
“We were just about to talk to your parents. Come on.” Joy nudged Dennis.
Dennis sighed, “Okay I’m coming.”
He walked behind them, he felt a knot in his stomach he hadn’t talked to them in years not after he told them he was going to go into the medical field and not work on the farm. It’s not like he doesn’t like working at the farm—it was that he didn’t want to make it his whole life.
Dennis looked over at Ogilivie and Joy. “Did they call anyone?”
Ogilivie nodded. “Yes, I believe they were like your siblings? I heard them say that they were here along with their wives and children.”
Dennis froze, he exhaled shakily, he pressed his lips together and nodded. “Well, I guess it’s a whole family reunion. That’s just great..”
When they got to their door he let a breath out one more time. He opened the door slowly. He was met with his mother and father. His mother had the same curly hair like he did her hair went down to her back. She had wrinkles around her eyes and neck and her lips. She was around 60 same along with his father. His father had black hair that was trimmed and a huge black bread that covered his jaw fully.
“Hey, mother and father.” Dennis said shyly. He looked at Ogilivie and Joy. “Uh, they are my students I am teaching. This is Joy and Ogilivie. They’ll mainly assist you.”
His father tried to get up but Dennis rushed to him and placed him back down on the bed. “You can’t get up yet, father.” His voice was a bit more loud than it usually is.
His father swatted Dennis’ hand away. “Eh, I’ll be fine!” His voice got loud and Dennis just went quiet and nodded.
“I just don’t see why you wouldn’t want to work at the farm than working in here with these sick people and dying people. You would earn such good money working at the farm!” His father ranted.
“Oh My God, Richard. Shut up. We both agreed not to talk about his personal life after he left us cause he doesn’t want to be with us anymore.” His mother started up.
“Hey! Quit it!” Dennis yelled. “God..one of the nurses said you called for my brothers? Why did y'all call them?”
Ogilivie smirked. “Man, they really need to be quiet huh? They clearly have no boundaries.”
Joy rolled her eyes. Dennis sighed and ran his hands through his hair. He was frustrated with how this was going. He didn’t want to get into a fight with his family, definitely not in front of his students. He wanted to keep calm but he had a feeling this day would go so, so, horribly.
“Yes, we called them and tell your students to mind their own business!” Richard said nasty.
Dennis nodded and sighed. “Sorry, father. So, when are they getting here?”
“Whenever the can. Cause I certainly don’t want to see you anymore than I have to.” His mother retorted.
Dennis gave a small smile and he walked out leaving Ogilivie and Joy alone with his parents. He didn’t want to deal with them anymore. He sat down in-front of his computer he put his head into his hands. He sighed trying not to cry cause they will always get into his head no matter what they say or how they say it. McKay walked by, she stopped when she seen Dennis.
“You okay, kid?”
Dennis nodded and gave a thumbs up. “Yep, about to do some charting then head back to my patients.”
She nodded. “Okay, good luck.”
She left as Dennis watched. He looked up watching the nurses and doctors walk past. He got up and went to check on another patient while Ogilivie and Joy are focusing on his parents. He knew once his brothers and their wives along with their children coming it would be a huge family reunion with..lots of problems.
