Floyd's weird sitting position

Summary:

There's something about the way Floyd sits that bothers Riddle to no end

Notes:

Not my best work since I made this after exams after taking a look at the way I sit and went: "Floyd would also sit like this." So here you go, Riddle being bothered by Floyd man spreading. (─‿‿─)

Work Text:

There's always something that bothered Riddle about Floyd. Today, it was in the way Floyd sits; leg spread and taking up the space beside him while leaving a huge gap in the middle. Riddle believed it was simply because he was raised to always sit properly in order to maintain good posture. Although Floyd's back is straight so the way he spreads his legs doesn't affect his posture in the least, concluding that certain health issues wouldn't affect him and so Riddle shouldn't bother with it further.

His hypothesis was immediately proven wrong by the fact that his main focus was towards Floyd's legs. There's no clear evidence that open legs would cause health issues, therefore he believes it was simply because of Floyd's lack of manners. The way he sits affects those who sit beside him who are forced to accommodate him and move further to the edge of the seat just to have enough space for themselves. He tried scolding Floyd to close his legs and even attempting to push them close himself. Yet Floyd would simply laugh at him or stare at him with boredom, resulting in his efforts becoming fruitless. He’s pretty sure Floyd doesn't spread his legs that wide before, perhaps there was a change that he's not aware of, or perhaps it's a position in which Floyd applied to become even more comfortable while sitting. He truly cannot understand the eel.

Then a sudden realization struck him after he finished his studying. It's neither Floyd's posture or his lack of manners that bothered him when it comes to Floyd's sitting position— it was the space in between his legs that remained unoccupied. The gap felt and looked wrong in his perspective which is why he always tried to close Floyd's legs in order to fill in the gap created by the eel. Although his posture and the lack of consideration he displays are also great factors, the gap bothered him more than he wished to. When no one sits beside him in the Heartslabyul lounge’s couch, the gap didn't bother him at all, he does like having a bit of space all to himself.

Once again, Riddle observed as Floyd sat on the courtyard with his legs spread and hat right beside him, bored out of his mind until he spotted Riddle. He shivered at the insane activities Floyd planned for him to partake in, yet Floyd remained seated and opened his legs wider. “Whatchu doing out here?” Floyd asked as Riddle walked over to observe the eel further. He needs to identify why the gap felt so wrong. There is at least one answer to a question after all. “I lost track of time. Suggesting by your dorm uniform, you recently ditched your work, didn't you?” Riddle scrutinized the eel who scoffed at being caught in the act but showed no remorse. “It's boring, there's not a lot of customers anyways, they can handle it.” The mer shrugged and leaned even more on the bench.

Riddle hummed and observed the space in between Floyd's legs. ‘Oh. A small person could sit right in between his legs. Is this perhaps a result of his long legs?’ Riddle glanced up to see Floyd staring directly at him. “Why are ya starin’ at my legs? Ya jealous?” Floyd cackled as Riddle turned red at the comment. “I am certainly not. I am satisfied with my height.” Riddle sent a warning glance at Floyd who grinned and shrugged knowing well that he won't drop the topic about his height any time soon. ‘I am indeed below average when it comes to height, but that doesn't excuse such preposterous acts. Hm? A small person…’ He placed a hand under his chin in contemplation. He wants to prove his hypothesis but it would result in him providing Floyd with even more reasons to tease; if he fails to search for an answer, it would bother him for a few days which he cannot risk as there are a lot of responsibilities he needs to attend to.

“Yer staring is making me bored.” Before Floyd could even get up to leave, he was shocked to see Riddle suddenly sit down in between his legs with a serious expression. “I was right…” The housewarden muttered and nodded in satisfaction. “Apologies, I just wanted to test a hypothesis.” Riddle separated from the bench for a second until Floyd dragged him back down and trapped him under his arms. “That's not fair, Goldfishie.” Floyd whispered directly in his ear before burying his face on his shoulders. Riddle feels like he shouldn't answer him and simply remain still.

Afterwards, Floyd finally closed his legs which didn't bother Riddle anymore. He was glad that the embarrasing act he had done at least forced Floyd to close his legs.

Well that was at least until he made eye contact with him. Whenever they make eye contact, Floyd will spread his legs and look at him expectantly. ‘Does he want me to sit in between his lap again? Ridiculous.’ He ignored it for a while but Floyd's gaze on him bothered him to no end. Floyd really knows how to get under his skin. That shameless eel knows no bounds. Still, getting hit by a sleepy potion by a certain sleepy batchmate is not an ideal day, especially since Floyd is in a hyper mood— dragging Riddle around as if it was nothing. Riddle tried to fight off the potion yet it only made him even more drowsy. Crewel did advise for him to not fight it and simply let it take over as it will eventually fade away when he wakes up; though he has a lot of documents to attend to back at their dorm and he doesn't want to dump it all to Trey who’s also busy with his own studies and other events.

Noticing Riddle’s lack of response, Floyd dragged them towards a bench and made Riddle sit in between his legs. “This again?” Riddle complained; he couldn't move thanks to Floyd's arms coiled around his waist. “Ya look sleepy.” Floyd commented, pulling the other to lean on his chest. “I got hit by a sleep potion. I need to let it take over but I have some things I need to do first. Therefore I shall force myself to be awake.” He says while his eyelids slowly lower themselves unconsciously. “Ya? Or you could do it after you wake up. It's hard to do things when you're sleepy.” Floyd made himself comfortable as he noticed that Riddle is slowly succumbing to sleep. “I need to finish it as soon… as possible…”

Floyd took a peek to see that Riddle finally fell asleep. “Riddle’s so stubborn.” Floyd muttered to himself before also sleeping out in the open where other students could see them.

Cater passed by and visibly jumped at the sight. “I really wanna post this but I don't wanna #lose my streak of not getting collared. A pic won't hurt!” Cater grinned, going closer to take a picture before leaving them be. He doesn't want to anger either of them.
