Summary
On the thirty-first of October, 1980, Lily Potter filed a magically binding will naming Severus Snape as Harry's guardian. She placed him last on the list to convince James. She placed him first because she meant it.
Snape cannot refuse. He does not decide to become a father. He simply does the things that fathers do, one after another, for twelve years, until the doing becomes the thing, and the thing becomes permanent.

Harry is Snape's. He is James's, and Lily's, and Snape', and all the more his own, and this journey teaches us about how Snape's son Harry can have a much more comforting existence than Harry the orphan, but none the less exciting. And the writing style is exquisite.
