Chapter Text
Today had been going surprisingly well, compared to other days it was certainly better than usual. You had the day off work so you got to do whatever you wanted, you decided the best idea ever was to go to a new bar that's opened up in town. Looks good enough and apparently it's got amazing drinks, you doubt that but there's no harm in trying. Especially since you got paid today.
Nevermind, turns out the bar was now a hotspot for drunkies and crack heads. You'd been here for around a hour now though because you couldn't find the exit, eventually you finally found one and left. Too bad it was late at night and you forgot to make sure no one was out already, the moment you left the bar a strange man grabbed you. You screamed and tried to get away but he managed to drag you into a alleyway before pulling out a knife.
"Now, you may not know this but do you know how much organs sell for?" The man asked, you shook your head in response and he muttered a small 'typical' before stabbing you in the neck and taking the blade out, you tried to scream but the blood in your throat was stopping you. Your vision was already going dark and your neck hurt so badly, you used all of your strength to try to bring your hands to the wound but you collapsed and slowly died.
...was death meant to feel this warm? This gentle?
It took a few minutes but suddenly you appeared in a changing room. The walls around you were cream and the wall Infront of you had a floor length mirror on it. There was a white wardrobe to your right and a window with white curtains on your left, underneath your feet was a fluffy cream carpet that was covering a hard wooden floor. Behind you was a vanity that had all sorts of makeup and hair supplies, the room was small but cozy feeling.
"W-where am I..." You said quietly, looking around you trying to figure out what the fuck was going on.
"Welcome! This is the waiting room!" A voice said, answering your question. It sounded like the narrator for a Stanley parable.
"Why am I here?" You asked, your voice was a little bit louder now.
"You're here because-I don't actually know why you're here. But anyways! You're going to be put into a video game!" The Stanley parable narrator sounding voice said loudly.
"What game is it?" You have so many questions but you're deciding to ask the ones that you think are the most important right now.
"It's called-sorry let me get my notes I forgot the name." You hear the shuffling of pages for a few moments before he finally answers. "It's called SOULS Dating Sim!"
Oh...
Oh fuck...
You remember that game, you played it a few times as a teenager but you can barely remember anything from it. The things you do remember is that all the love interests in it essentially because 'Yandere' for the player, it has different aus of Undertale in it and most of the bad endings result in the player dying. A wave of dread fills you.
"Well you don't need to wait anymore so I'll teleport you to your last save file in it! Don't worry about dying, you'll always return to the beginning of the game!" The voice says as it slowly fades away just like the comfy waiting room you'd been in that looked more like a dressing room.
You regained consciousness in a bus, it was full of people and felt extremely cramped. You were sitting on a window seat with a black backpack on your lap and two suitcases stacked up on the seat beside you. Looking around you recognised this moment, it was the very beginning of the game because last time you'd played you'd only finished character creator before you had to leave for school and you never touched the game since because your computer broke before you ever could. After a few minutes the bus stopped and everyone started getting out, you decided to wait until everyone else left for you to leave because you remembered the player went into the crowd and bumped into...what was that mans name again? You couldn't remember right now but you do remember they were also obsessed with you. The crowd finally left so you did too, putting your backpack on your back and dragging your suitcases along with you, thanking the bus driver on your way out.
Unfortunately not everything went to plan, while trying to leave the bus stop you bumped into someone. They were a short skeleton monster who you recognised, classic Sans. Thankfully they weren't the man you were thinking of earlier but you didn't mean to bump into him!
"hey esmé, the others sent me to collect you." Oh yeah, you forgot that the game takes place with the player moving into a house with all these guys just so then they can afford rent and go to college. "anyways let's go, papyrus is in the car already." You followed Sans to a red BMW, the outside was pretty scratched up but you couldn't tell the state of the inside due to the tainted windows.
You can hear Papyrus already, he sounds excited exactly like how he was in the game. Sans opens the door for you to let you in because the car was designed for monsters which you are not, meaning you can't reach the door handle. Most full grown skeleton monsters were 8ft tall, while height with different kinds of monsters vary they still needed adjustments to the things they used on a daily basis. Sans was considered short because he was around 6ft tall compared to his brother who was 9ft tall.
"SANS! ESMÉ!" Papyrus called out as you entered the car. You watched as Sans entered the car and Papyrus made sure he was okay, you remembered in the game there was a part of it that discussed some humans being against monsters and how discrimination towards monsters was a big thing. You also remembered that monsters in response also discriminated towards humans so it was one big loop, one species discriminated towards the other so the other would do it in return.
"you okay paps?" Sans asked, Papyrus just nodded in response and started driving.
"THE GREAT PAPYRUS IS ALWAYS FINE SANS! LETS JUST GO HOME!" Papyrus said loudly, you didn't realise how loud he was because in the game they toned his volume down. "ESMÉ, HOW'VE YOU BEEN? I KNOW JOINING MEDICAL SCHOOL MUST BE DIFFICULT!" Wait...WHAT!?
"Oh yeah I've been doing well, I'm really excited for med school actually!" You said, not even meaning what you were saying. You had completely forgotten the player was meant to go to med school, especially since they acted like the stereotypical naive and stupid person who's only job is to get love interests.
"that's good, hey we forgot to tell you but remember those other roommates we mentioned?" You nodded in response to San's question. "well alot of them aren't home right now and won't be for a wee while so don't be shocked if you encounter any new skeletons. oh also don't enter the basement, wings turned it into his lab."
Well that was some useful information, you knew the player never entered the basement in the game but you never actually knew WHY they never entered the basement. You already knew about the other roommates though. Eventually Papyrus stopped the car infront of a apartment building, normally a apartment would be too small for a bunch of skeletons and a human but if you remember correctly the game explained that the apartment you and the skeleton lived in was expanded using magic. Papyrus got out of the car and so did you and Sans. The sun was bright and you hadn't realised how grateful you were for air conditioning until now, you felt like you were being blinded by the sun but Sans and Papyrus barely reacted to how bright it was and just walked through the entrance to the apartment building with you following close behind.
Time to see your brand new home.
