Chapter Text
Was there more to life than throwing chickens, singing, and teaching random mortals the gift of gratefulness?
That question had been bothering Jareth more than he liked to admit, he preferred not to be thinking about it. Not to think how he was the only one in his Kingdom who was like this. Not quite a mortal, not quite a goblin.
A king.
He wasn't sure what he truly was, but he knows that whatever it was, was long gone.
Had he ever been a child?
"Jareth!" Tiq yelps out, as she gets shoved towards him by Crog. "We- we found somethin." Then she shoves Crog back.
"Found something? Impossible, I know every rock and corner." Jareth says narrowing his eyes frowning, but sitting up on his throne anyway. "What did you find?"
"Somethin real strange. It was shiny." Crog says. "Down near entrance."
Jareth sighs and stands up. He was bored anyway, he may as well reach out to find whatever it was. Probably a glitter rock. But when he stepped forward, and the entrance surfaced in front of him, he found that the goblins did find something that he didn't put there.
A mirror, with roses and vines surfacing the edges, and a very shiny light glowing from inside.
"Whadya s'pose it is." Crog asks.
"I don't know." Jareth admits, disliking the foul taste coming from his mouth. "Don't touch it. Or I'll send you to the bog of eternal stench." His hand reaches out as he tries to feel it out.
He hadn't seen anything like this before, not even for the human realm.
This was something...new.
He grins. "Crog. Gather the 13, we have some exploring to do. And bring my favorite outfits."
Crog nodded and stepped backwards into the castle, to gather what Jareth had requested.
When they had gotten back, Jareth made them all form into a line, "Now together...we'll explore. Stay by me."
And Jareth steps through, the portal swallowing all 14 of them whole, catapulting them through great darkness towards the unknown.
