Chapter 1: Simmering

Chapter Text

“Moony you’re not doing that right.” Sirius huffed, snatching the fork and knife right out of his hands and switching them.

Remus closed his eyes and drew in a breath through his nose. This had been a constant issue since the start of the school year, Sirius picking his every move apart.

“Siri, I’m left handed.”

“Everyone knows that Moony. It doesn’t matter which hand is dominant it matters that you have basic table manners.” Sirius responded sharply, scooping out more potatoes onto his own plate.

Remus’ expression was tightening into a glare.

“Sirius. James is literally eating mashed potatoes with his hands right now.”

“So?”

“So!!?” Remus mimicked, exasperated.

“James, James,” Peter piped up from across the table, tugging on the sleeve of James’ robe like a child, even though he was fully seventeen.

“James, they’re going to fight again!”

James looked up with his mouth full and didn’t swallow before talking.

“Aah nah again.”

Remus held eye contact with Sirius and slowly switched his fork and knife back to their original hands. He carefully started cutting into his steak. His extremely rare and borderline uncooked steak.

It was only days from the full moon. The wolf was simmering just under the surface of his skin like a terrible sunburn making him itchy and hot.

Sirius’ perfect high arching eyebrows lowered and his silver eyes narrowed to slits. Remus glared right back at him.

There was a low rumbling sound and Peter squeaked.

“James, do something! He’s growling!”

This shocked Remus back into himself. He quickly swallowed and the sound stopped. He looked down at his plate, heat rising in his ears, appetite lost. He was out of control. He shouldn’t even be around people. He was dangerous.

He was an animal in a trench coat pretending to be a student, pretending to be a normal person.

Abruptly he stood up from the table, pushing the bench back and causing a startled Lily to teeter next to him. He put his hand on her shoulder to stop her from falling back.

“I’m full. I’m going to study.”

“Fine.” Sirius said, cutting over Lily’s “Remus wait, you barely touched your-“

He was out of earshot before she finished the sentence.

_________

He did not go study. He stormed up to Gryffindor tower, haphazardly grabbed a pair of trousers and a clean towel out of his trunk and slammed the door of the connected bathroom with a satisfying bang.

Not that anyone was there to hear it. He sagged against the door, catching sight of himself in the mirror over the sink.

His eyes were more gold than brown, his pupils dilated further than normal. His dirty blonde hair was messy and needed a trim around his eyes.

The new gash from his last transformation was finally healing, but it was sure to leave a terrible scar.

He reached up one of his hands and traced the raw pink line gently from the middle of his cheek down the side of his neck. It went further, he knew, but he didn’t care to see.

He turned his back to the mirror as he stripped and then turned on the shower to a lukewarm temperature that his overheated skin could tolerate.

The shower wasn’t calming him like he hoped it would. Stupid Sirius. Stupid Sirius and his stupid judgmental eyebrows. With the amount of berating Remus was getting lately it was like Sirius had a notebook he was trying to fill with Remus’ mistakes.

“Your tie is atrocious, I have to redo it.”

“Moony, you have a beetle in your hair! Grab it! It’s freaking everyone out.”

“Moony stop touching the cut it won’t heal.”

“Moony you didn’t take your potion this morning.”

“Moony you have toothpaste on your chin.”

“Are you growing your hair out? I don’t like it.”

“Moony are you even listening-“

Remus was so lost in his thoughts he hadn’t noticed his hand had wandered downward and was slowly stroking his painfully hard dick.

Oh. Okay. He was probably just horny as hell. This always happened before the moon. He had been so busy today he hadn’t gotten himself off a single time.

Embarrassingly, he usually needed 4-5 orgasms a day before the full moon to feel normal. Normal. He gave a humorless laugh. Nothing about him was normal.

But a wank couldn’t hurt.

He closed his eyes and focused on the sensation of the water washing over his back. Every sense became heightened when his wolf was close to the surface.

He kept a firm grip around the base of his cock and squeezed, letting it bob against the warm shower wall.

His slid slowly back into his own hand, groaning, wishing for something warmer, something better, something-

“Moony.”

Remus groaned again, moving slightly faster, hair falling into his eyes.

“Moony!” There was a steady banging against the wood of the bathroom door.

Remus’ mind supplied a helpful image of him fucking someone forcefully into the door. Bang, bang, bang. Thump, thump, thump.

He was so close. His throat tightened, constricting a growl.

“Moony I know you’re in there! Come out!”

“I’m not waiting one more second! Do you want me to come in there? I will! Don’t make me come in!”

Come. Come. Come in. What a beautiful voice. He thinks the beautiful voice wants him to come in him. Who is he to object. A truly indescribable sound escapes his throat as he comes all over the shower wall, panting.

“Okay I counted to thirty, I’m coming in.”

There was a whoosh of cold air as the bathroom door was flung open.

Remus shivered, shaking his hair out of his eyes as he tried to remember where he was and what was going on.

The shower curtain pulled back a few inches and then Sirius Black’s face stuck itself inside.

Remus screamed.
