He sighed. Fighting the ancients every day was exhausting, and it was even worse seeing nilly there…but even so…he couldn’t keep himself from snaking back to him like a wet puppy in need of a warm owner. So, he snuck up to the door.
He slipped into the silent castle as quietly as a being of deceit could, and floated down the hallway with tired movements. Only stopping when he found the room he was looking for.
He hesitantly opened the door to see if nilly was there; he was greeted to the sight of nilly seemingly sleeping peacefully in bed. He slowly approached, trying his best not to wake him as he slipped into bed with him.
Pure vanilla stirred, his eyes fluttering open before resting closed again, and he smiled.
“…hello, blue bird…”
“…shut up, nilly…”
He wrapped his arms around shadow milk and tucked his head underneath his chin. For anyone else he was just a beast, but when with pure vanilla he was simply his blue bird…and that would be okay for just tonight…
