Notes:

Hello, friends!!!  ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝ Hope you’re doing well!!! I may or may not have given up on Monday postings with how many Sundays I’ve done now, lol.

Thank you all so much for your well wishes!!! Surgery went well and is healing nicely!!!

More surgery recap in the dropdown

Though I have to admit, I look a bit like Charlie the Unicorn, post kidney-abduction, lol. No kidneys were stolen in the making of my slice though. I pretty much slept for three days after and am now just a little sore!!! Cannot believe it’s already been almost a week!!! Time really flies when you’re fucking unconscious, haha!

ANYWAY! Thank you all so much for your kind words and support! Your comments GIVE ME LIFE!!!

There are definitely some rough patches coming up for Alastor and Lucifer, but I swear there will be an eventual happy ending! And you hopefully won’t want to murder Lucifer anymore by that point, haha. FINGERS CROSSED!

Speaking of rough patches… This chapter def leans more into the dubcon side of things. Content warning in the below dropdown.

Chapter Content Warning

In the end, Alastor and Lucifer wind up falling prey to their own instincts. Lucifer’s hit him a little faster than Alastor’s though, since he’s kinda blindsided by it all and hasn’t had time to process it like Alastor has. They’re both consenting as much as they’re able to in the end, at least as far as people mutually under the influence of soul marks/soulmates can.

I definitely don’t mean for this to come across as full blown noncon, but wanted to add a warning just in case. If you need more details to make an informed decision on whether or not to read, please feel free to leave a comment or reach out to me via tumblr ask. My tumblr is in my linktree in the end notes.

Hope you enjoy!!!

Chapter Text

Lucifer took a few minutes to calm down once Alastor was gone. He couldn’t believe he’d almost lost control like that, especially given the situation with Ozzie and Fizz. Fizz was missing and here he was, about to sink his fangs and more into an Omega he hardly even knew!

His dragon was vehemently opposed to letting the professor leave. While he fought the urge to claim him, it had unhelpfully conjured up a variety of best and worst case scenarios. The best being the Omega wearing nothing but his claiming bite and lying in his bed, while the worst was far too similar to what Ozzie was going through right now.

He almost took Alastor up on his offer to help him with his potential rut, but had to stop himself at the last minute. He’d come close to marking him last time, had done a number on his throat. Lucifer didn’t know if he could resist if he was presented with the opportunity a second time.

And what good would that do either of them? Only a dragon’s soulmate would share its lifespan. So he would mark Alastor and then what? Watch him grow old and die while he remained unchanged? He hadn’t done that with Charlie’s mother, and he didn’t intend to do it with any other Omega either.

The chance of him finding his own soulmate was practically nonexistent. He’d been alive for centuries now without having come across them. Even so, he hadn’t wanted to prevent Lilith from finding her own. And Lilith had found her soulmate. She’d spent almost a decade with Eve before she’d passed away from the same illness that had taken her own mother.

Omegas were so godsdamned fragile…

At the rate Alastor was going, he likely wouldn’t make it to fifty either…

Once he felt more like himself, he rejoined Ozzie, Charlie, and the detectives. They went through many of the same questions Alastor had asked and, thank the gods Omegas weren’t allowed on the force. The thought of him chasing down murderers and other dangerous criminals was enough to make Lucifer go prematurely gray. An impressive feat for a dragon.

His thoughts wandered more than they should throughout the conversation with the detectives. Not that it was unusual for him. Oddly though, they kept circling back to Alastor. He’d had a hard time putting him from his mind since they spent his heat together and the Omega ran off. Lucifer wanted to go after him, to ensure he took time to rest and recover, but he didn’t have his phone number or address. He’d told himself it was for the best, but now he wasn’t so sure.

If Alastor went missing, would anyone look for him?  How long would it take for someone to even notice? And who would? His employer? Knowing Fizz was missing was bad enough, but at least he had his family to sound the alarm and search for him.

The interview with the police drew to a close with them promising to do everything in their power to locate Fizz as quickly as possible. Moxxie and his colleagues would be working around the clock to find him too.

“I appreciate you being here, Lu,” Ozzie offered from where he remained slumped on the sofa.

“You’d do the same for me.”

“Still.” He rubbed a hand over his face, looking nothing short of exhausted. “Although I didn’t appreciate that Omega implying Fizz would run away…”

“Al’s a bit…of an acquired taste.”

Charlie nodded fervently. “He was just trying to help, Uncle Ozzie. In his own way.”

“Still… You should tell his Alpha to keep a better eye on him. It’s…not safe out there.”

“He doesn’t have an Alpha,” Charlie offered.

Ozzie blinked, brow furrowing. “What do you mean he doesn’t have an Alpha? He has to be at least twenty-five. Did they pass away…?”

“I don’t think he’s ever had one,” Lucifer said with a shake of his head.

He looked stricken at that. “No Alpha? Who’s supposed to keep him safe then? Lu, there might be a predator out there!”

Lucifer’s stomach roiled at the thought. “I told him not to go near the studio.”

“Omegas aren’t meant to be alone. They’re supposed to be with their family. Their pack.” Ozzie’s voice hitched. “The thought of my Fizzi Frog out there, alone… It’s not right, Lu. He should at least be on the registry.”

Ozzie had always been a bit overprotective of Omegas. Lucifer wasn’t surprised his concern was flaring up more than usual. After all, he may not be able to protect Fizz right now, but there was another Omega out there who he could.

“He’d lose his job, Uncle Ozzie,” Charlie protested. “He’s a professor at my school.”

He only looked more scandalized by the information. Lucifer rested a hand on his shoulder. “It’ll be okay, Oz. I’ll keep an eye on him, if it’ll make you feel better.”

“It would,” he murmured, dropping his head into his hands. “It’s not right… Omegas are supposed to be protected by Alphas…” He paused, sniffling softly. “I a-already let Fizzi down…”

“You didn’t let him down,” Lucifer insisted. “We will find him. Hells, I’ll go take a look at the place myself.”

He would’ve sooner, but had spent the time since Ozzie’s frantic phone call trying to dissuade him from shifting into his dragon form and tearing the city apart to find his mate. While Lucifer understood the sentiment, that would do more harm than good. Especially given how few people knew about the existence of dragons in the first place.

“That’s a good idea, dad,” Charlie insisted. “I’ll stay here with Uncle Ozzie. Vaggie’s headed here too. We’ll take care of him and the pups. I’ll let you know if we hear anything while you’re out.”

“Thanks, Char-Char,” he said, giving her a small smile. “I’ll be back soon, okay?”

He gave her and Ozzie both a tight hug before grabbing his phone from the table and heading out.

It didn’t take Lucifer long to reach the yoga studio, since it was only a few blocks from Ozzie and Fizz’s home. As late as it was, the parking lot was empty, the police having finished up there for the evening. He parked near the entrance and climbed out of his car, slowly circling the building.

Lucifer drew slow breaths through his nose as he went, eyes flashing reptilian as he gave himself over to his dragon and its heightened senses. It was still easier said than done to parse between the various scents, given all the people who frequented the place. The strongest were those of the Alpha and Beta employees and police, with a strong underlying current of Omegas and their softer, more understated scents.

Unfortunately, it was impossible to pull Fizz’s from them all. He wouldn’t have fared much better if he’d come earlier either, not with the sheer size of the studio and its many members.

The studio backed up to a steep, wooded hill, meant to add to its sense of tranquility while allowing for further privacy. There was no way Fizz had made it up that. Lucifer didn’t know if he could himself, without a good deal of effort.

However, just as he was about to loop back around to the front of the building, he heard a sharp curse accompanied by what sounded very much like someone tumbling down said hill. He caught their scent a moment later and made it to the bottom, just in time to catch Alastor before his uncontrolled momentum slammed him into the back of the building.

The Omega fell hard against him, but Lucifer had more than enough strength to keep from bowling over. He didn’t know what was worse, that Alastor was somehow there or that he wasn’t surprised by the fact.

Alastor met his eyes from where he was half sprawled against him, brows slamming down. “Godsdamnit.”

Lucifer scooped the spluttering man into his arms, carrying him back toward his own car.

“Put me down!”

“Did you intentionally fall down that fucking hill?” Lucifer demanded as he went.

The fact Alastor was now looking anywhere but at him was answer enough.

“Did you stop to think that, even if it worked and helped you get around the command, you could’ve broken your fucking neck? No, what am I saying! Of course you didn’t!”

“Shouldn’t you be holed up for your rut with your Omega?” Alastor shot back, renewing his struggle to free himself.

He tightened his arms around him, effectively pinning him in place.

“Funnily enough, as soon as you left, I felt a lot better!”

That earned a baleful glare, but Lucifer didn’t set him down until he reached his car. The stubborn idiot immediately tried to make a break for it and he caught him by the arm, hauling him back.

“Don’t make me use my Alpha Voice,” he growled in warning.

“Fuck off!” Alastor snarled, ineffectually attempting to pry his hand free.

“Al, what are you doing here?” he tried instead. As he spoke, he opened the car door and deposited the other man inside.

That earned another glare, but at least he seemed to finally understand it was in his best interest to cooperate. The Omega’s natural scent was far weaker now, meaning he must have reupped on whatever he was using to mask it. Even Lucifer could barely catch it.

“What does it look like?” he retorted.

“I know what it looks like. But seeing as you aren’t the police—“

“Last I checked, you weren’t either.”

Lucifer gave a heavy sigh. “Did you get hurt falling down the hill?”

“I’m fine. Are you done interrogating me? Am I free to go?”

Omegas were supposed to be easygoing, eager to please, and agreeable. Apparently Alastor had missed the memo on that.

Lucifer drew in a slow breath, frowning at him. “You’re bleeding.”

He rolled his eyes. “I’m not a child, Lucifer.”

“A child would be better behaved,” he grumbled as he started up his car.

Alastor’s gaze darted from him to the door.

“I’m just going to haul your ass back in here and make you stay put,” Lucifer warned.

The Omega bared his teeth, but made no attempt to flee. “Just drop me off at my car, if you won’t butt out.”

“Nope,” he said as he pulled out of the parking lot.

“What do you mean nope?”

“What I mean is I’m the only thing standing between you and Ozzie calling the Omega Registry on you.”

Alastor jerked upright in his seat. “What?!”

“He’s worried about his mate, who he can’t protect right now. However, there’s another Omega who he can protect.”

“I don’t need protecting!”

“You literally just went cartwheeling down a hill.”

“By choice!”

Lucifer shrugged. “Ozzie’s pretty upset. I can’t promise I can keep him from calling them.”

Alastor’s glare was positively murderous. “So, what, you’re kidnapping me?”

“I’m helping you. Now, what’s your address?”

“Do you intend to force me to tell you?” he snapped.

“No, but it’s that or I’m taking you to Ozzie’s without any of your stuff.”

Lucifer hit his turn signal to head back toward Ozzie’s.

“Wait!”

He turned to him, arching a brow.

“…it’s 101 Magnolia Lane. And I’m not going to your friend’s place. Gratton would never forgive me.”

Lucifer blinked. “Gratton?”

Alastor crossed his arms, slumped in his seat and turned his full attention to glaring out the window instead.

Adorable.

At least now Ozzie wouldn’t worry himself sick over two Omegas. Alastor genuinely had no idea how close he’d been to getting outed.

Lucifer was given the silent treatment the entire thirty minute drive to Alastor’s home. The house was…well…quaint was probably the kindest descriptor. He barely stopped the car before Alastor was out of it and storming up to the front door. He hurried after, before the Omega could lock him out.

They were greeted by a tiny, screaming cat that Alastor scooped up and cradled in his arms.  Lucifer may have been imagining things, but he swore both Omega and cat were glaring at him now.

“Is this Gratton?” he asked, taking out his phone to shoot a quick update text to Charlie.

Alastor waved a hand as if to shoo him away. “I’m here. Now leave.”

“I’ll leave once you finish getting your things together.”

“I’m not going anywhere with you. You aren’t my Alpha, so stop acting like it!”

Lucifer’s dragon reared up at the declaration, causing his scent to spike. Alastor froze, chin lifting briefly as if to bare his throat before he caught himself, scowling defiantly back at him instead.

He could practically hear the Omega gritting his teeth as he fought hard not to back down.

Strong mate. Strong pups.

The standoff may have gone on indefinitely if the door hadn’t opened, causing both of them to spin around to face the intruder. A pale, female Alpha paused just within the threshold, dark eyes darting between the two of them.

“…did I get the date wrong, hun?” she prompted as she stepped fully inside, closing the door behind her.

Lucifer immediately moved in front of Alastor, his pheromones filling the space as he growled in warning.

She blinked, holding both hands up. “Oh my stars! Alastor, is this the Alpha ya spent your heat with?”

“Lucifer, will you knock it off?” Alastor hissed, elbowing him and effectively startling him out of his instincts.

He flushed, straightening and retreating back to the side. “…sorry, I…don’t know what came over me.”

She shot Alastor a knowing look Lucifer couldn’t begin to interpret.

“It’s not what you think!” Alastor insisted. “He’s trying to kidnap me!”

She crossed her arms, cocking her hip. “Somebody that handsome can kidnap me any day of the week!”

“Rosie!”

“Ya wouldn’t happen to be the Lucifer Morningstar, would ya?” she directed to him.

“I am. And, yes, I spent his heat with him.”

“Well! No wonder he was so flustered when he called me after!”

“Rosie!”

She glanced to Alastor before grinning at Lucifer, all teeth. “Ya don’t happen to have an interest in dragons, do ya?”

Alastor went stock still beside him as Lucifer’s thoughts stuttered to a halt. What the fuck kind of question was that? Did she know? How could she possibly know?

“Rosie… He’s not… It’s…not like that,” Alastor protested.

His expression was the most open Lucifer had seen from him, the pain etched across his features hitting the Alpha like a physical blow.

Why was he so upset? More importantly, how dare this woman upset his Omega?

“Why do you ask?” Lucifer hazarded.

But she only had eyes for Alastor. “Oh, hun, I’m sorry.” As she spoke, she stepped forward, wrapping her arms around him and his cat.

To his surprise and the irritation of his dragon, Alastor leaned into her embrace. “There’s nothing to be sorry about,” he protested. “He’s just experiencing pre-rut. That’s why he’s acting like this.”

“Pre-rut?” she echoed, brow furrowing. “But if he ain’t the one with an interest in dragons…” She trailed off, frowning.

“I don’t know,” Alastor mumbled into her shoulder.

“What do dragons have to do with anything?” Lucifer insisted.

“Nothin’ to concern yourself with, hun,” Rosie replied. “But if you’re in a pre-rut, the last place Al should be is with you. Ya tried real hard to mark him durin’ his heat, after all.”

“…how do you know that?”

“Saw the bruisin’ myself when I stopped by to check on Al.”

Lucifer winced at the reminder. The bruises had, admittedly, been…a lot. He had to reshape the collar with his magic after how much damage he’d done to it with his fangs and claws.

He’d never lost it like that before, even in the midst of his rut. Another thought quickly followed that was laughable at best, depressing at worst.

“…do you have a soul mark, Alastor?”

The Omega flinched at the question. “Why does it matter?”

Lucifer’s heart soared only to abruptly plummet. If he did have a soul mark and it wasn’t his, that meant Alastor belonged to someone else. His dragon was incensed by the mere thought.

“It might not hurt to show him, hun,” Rosie offered.

“So he can laugh at how ridiculous it is?” Alastor grumbled.

Lucifer’s heart tripped in his chest. “Please let me see it, Al.”

“Will you leave after?” he hedged. “And stop harassing me?”

NO! “Yes.”

He gave an exhausted sigh as he pulled away from Rosie, setting his cat down on the sofa. He then turned away from Lucifer so he could unbutton and remove his flannel shirt. His undershirt and binder were next, pulled as one up and over his head.

And then time stood still. Lucifer’s eyes went wide as he was confronted with the soul mark of a dragon, his dragon, with its wings spread in flight. It took up most of the Omega’s back and was so detailed, it looked alive, rather than a flat 2D image.

Mate! Bite! Claim! Breed!

But there was another here, another Alpha. In his territory. Having touched his mate! He bared his fangs at Rosie, knowing his dragon was likely lurking in his eyes. He’d never felt less human than in that moment.

“Get out,” he ordered, so much force behind the words that the woman stumbled a step back.

Rosie held her hands up as she slowly backed toward the door. “Uh, Al, I think he has an interest in dragons!” she squeaked, nearly tripping over his coffee table.

Alastor had already turned around by then, staring at them both in alarm, his button up half on while he clutched the front of it to his chest. “…oh. Oh, shit.”

“You should be in good hands with your Alpha! But I have a feelin’ if I don’t skeedaddle, there’s gonna be blood all over your nice wood floors!”

Lucifer took a menacing step toward her and she picked up the pace.

“Call me when ya can!” Rosie insisted as she fumbled with the doorknob behind her and all but fled from the house, pulling the door closed as she went.

Which left just him, his Omega, and the cat. The cat had also wisely retreated.

Alastor audibly swallowed as he took a small step back. “…if this is your soul mark, maybe we should take a moment to talk this out…?”

Lucifer didn’t answer as he took another step toward him.

“Given everything going on, I mean,” he babbled.

Lucifer’s scent grew stronger as his dragon rose ever closer to the surface. Alastor’s pupils blew wide as it filled the space, a plaintive whine escaping from the back of his throat as he continued to try to fight his instincts.

It was a waste of time and energy. This was inevitable. The mark on his back made him irrefutably Lucifer’s. Nothing could change that.

The Omega pressed a hand over his nose, fervently shaking his head. “I’m better than this,” he protested. “I’m above this!”

“Oh, treasure,” Lucifer breathed, eyes flashing. “This is who you are.

And then Alastor did perhaps the worst thing he could have. He ran.

His dragon wrested the last dregs of control from him and Lucifer had the Omega on the floor in an instant, his tail wrapped around his waist and his wrists tightly gripped in one hand behind his back. Lucifer had partially shifted, easily holding him in place from where he was draped over him.

Alastor’s breath hitched as he tried to squirm free, making Lucifer’s clothed cock rub against his core in the process. He froze at the sensation, the scent of his slick beginning to overpower that of the blockers he was on.

Lucifer dipped his head, nuzzling his exposed mate gland and the other man whimpered.

“A-Alpha… I… I need…!”

“I know what you need,” he rumbled, scraping his fangs against that oh-so-sensitive spot.

Now the Omega rocked intentionally back against him, the motion almost frantic.

“Please! Lucifer, I…” A soft, desperate sob escaped him. “Need you! Need my Alpha! Please take me! Please!”

He abruptly sank his teeth into his mate gland. Alastor seized beneath him, crying out as he tried to bear down on Lucifer’s cock despite the layers of fabric between them. Still, this close Lucifer felt every pulse of his orgasm.

The poor thing must be so empty…

“Alpha!”

He banished their clothes, pressing into his Omega while he was still riding out the aftershocks. Alastor gave a full throated groan as he was filled, his walls clenching around his cock with each remaining spasm.

Lucifer didn’t give him time to adjust. He didn’t need to with how wet his Omega was for him. Slick was practically dripping down his thighs. He began to fuck him in earnest, giving them both exactly what they so desperately needed.

Every punched out moan and needy cry he made went straight to Lucifer’s cock, further spurring him on. He held Alastor in place, reducing the assault on his knees while still fucking him senseless. The tip of his tail dipped down, rubbing firm circles against his clit and he jerked in his hold as he clamped down on Lucifer’s cock, screaming as he came a second time.

Lucifer pressed his knot into him then, his own orgasm swiftly following. He gave an inhuman growl as he spilled inside him, smoke curling from his lips and nostrils as he panted hot breath against the nape of Alastor’s neck.

As deep as he was in his own instincts, some distant part of Lucifer acknowledged that the floor was not the best place for him to knot his Omega. Rather than try to get up and find Alastor’s bedroom, he focused on the ring on his hand drawing on its magic. A moment later, they were settled on their sides on the bed inside his hoard.

This ring was solely attuned to him, though he needed to see about getting another made for his mate…

His mate. His soulmate. His Omega.

Lucifer had given up on finding his other half centuries ago. It was hard enough for humans to cross paths with theirs, let alone beings who lived for hundreds and even thousands of years.

Having Alastor here with him, with his soul mark, his mate mark, his knot inside him, and in his hoard… Bone-deep satisfaction radiated through him. Like the last puzzle piece had fallen into place, and now he could see and understand the entire picture.

Not only that, but a dragon’s soulmate was far more likely to experience a successful pregnancy. It’d be shocking for them to have only one pup, what with eternity stretching before them. He would be a father again!

Lucifer nuzzled the fresh mate mark, making Alastor squirm only for him to whimper when that jostled the knot inside him.

“…Alpha…?”

“I’m right here, treasure.”

My Alpha,” he murmured, pressing closer.

Lucifer stroked his hand along his flank, grinning against the back of his shoulder as he slipped it around and pinched his swollen clit.

“Alpha!” gasped, giving a full body shudder.

He dipped his fingers lower, to where they were joined to gather some of the Omega’s slick before rubbing firmly against the sensitive bundle of nerves. He nibbled and sucked at the mate mark too, and soon his brilliant, well-spoken Omega was only able to babble that one word, over and over.

Lucifer brought him off again and again, until all his carefully crafted layers were pulled away. Until his knot slipped free, and he rolled Alastor to his other side so he could bear witness to the fruits of his labor. His gaze was unfocused, overstimulated tears drying on his flushed cheeks. He reflexively bared his throat for him and his dragon rumbled in appreciation.

Lucifer wiped the tears away, bliss flooding him as Alastor leaned into his touch and nuzzled his hand.

“Good boy,” he said, earning a soft whine and the scent of fresh slick.

Oh, his Omega liked that, didn’t he?

But he should allow the poor thing to rest. Exhaustion was rolling off of him in waves, and he was struggling to keep his eyes open.

“Rest,” he commanded,

And just like that, his Omega was out like a light. Lucifer bundled him up in his arms, rubbing his cheek against the top of his head, before dozing off along with him.
