He punches.
Swip! Swip!
Again.
Swip! Swip!
And again.
Bam!
A violent thud. The punching bag flies across the room and slams violently against the wall in front of him. He pants before cursing, running a hand over his face, annoyed.
“Got a lot on your mind pretty boy ?” A feminine voice asks behind him.
He turns around and meets a playful gaze.
“I guess...” He laughs under his breath before smiling at the woman walking toward him. “How you doin' Yuki ?”
He daps her; she has a firm grip. He meets the blonde's brown eyes, she wears her signature smirk on her glossy lips.
“Better than you it seems.” She jokes, patting his shoulder. “I was here to close, didn't know you'd be there. Do you need the room longer ?”
Yuki owned the gym, and was his MMA instructor since high school. One day, when he was fifteen, she caught him fighting with bullies on a dark street. It was late, too late for a fifteen years old teenager to be out. Yet, she didn't intervene, just watched from afar until she saw him win and checked on him. They talked a bit, the boy was looking surprisingly well and smiley for someone who just beat the shit out of three guys taller than him. She brought him to his big brother's, Choso, who apologised a billionth times before asking her to have dinner with them, as an excuse for Yuuji's inappropriate behaviour. Yuuji ate a bit of the food before heading to bed, leaving the blonde and his brother alone. The both of them talked all night, Choso informed Yuki that his little brother was having difficulties coping with the loss of his grandfather.
“His ? Not yours ?”
“Wasuke raised him after our mother's and his father's death. We're half-brothers on our mother side, and we discovered it pretty recently. I legally became his guardian a week ago.”
“Oh. I'm sorry.”
“It's ok.” He wore a shy smile. “Don't worry.”
Choso was only twenty-one years old, he didn't know how he was supposed to raise Yuuji, sweet, sweet but impulsive Yuuji. Yuki listened, Choso apologised again and almost cried while thanking her for bringing his little brother home, then she gave him her phone number with an excuse : “Tell Itadori he can do box with me, it really helps to vent.” She added : “And call me whenever, handsome”. She left with a wink and a ravaging smile, and the rest was history.
Yuuji’s not a child anymore. Box and MMA really helped him dealing with his grief, and opening up to his sister-in-law and his brother. Yuki’s proud of him, yet right now, she only looks concerned : the pink-haired boy seems to be somewhere else, in a place only his thoughts can take him.
Yuuji hesitates. He lowers his head to stare at the tatami beneath him, his bare foot and Yuki's boots (that may be Choso's, now that he's really looking at it closely). He's still catching his breath, hands on his hips when he shakes his head.
“Uh, no. M'going to head home. I just needed to... I don't know. I just feel weird. You know, spring.” He sighs, turns around to see the corpse of the punching ball lying on the ground, emptied on the floor. He makes a face before grimacing at her. “I’m so sorry for the bag Yu-chan, I'll buy you a new one.”
Embarrassed, he scratches the back of his neck, she waves him off.
“Don't worry about that. Get some rest pretty boy.”
She smiles at him, the pink haired man grins at her back. He puts on a shirt and take his boxing gloves off, storing them in his bag. He grabs his phone, putting it between his teeth as he searched for his headphones and jacket in his bag. He finds them and puts his phone in his back pocket, without looking at the screen. In one corner of the room, Yuki does some papers, sat on her desk. She doesn't pay attention to Yuuji as he helps with the cleaning. He puts away the dumbbells, and begins to clean the mess he made some minutes ago. Eventually, he finishes tidying up the room and heads toward the big metal door.
“See you, Yuki !”
“Bye Yuuji ! Say hello to Fushiguro for me !” She exclaims, raising her head from the papers she was signing.
“Will do ! Bye bye !”
He zips his hoodie up and puts his headphones on. He doesn't live very far, only ten minutes from the gym. That's why he gets to hang out there every time he could. When he needed something to distract him. And lately, he is in desperate need of a distraction.
His third MMA tournament, his midterms and Wasuke’s death anniversary are dangerously close and threaten to engulf him entirely. Far too much for his neurodivergent brain to handle.
Spring was his favourite season when he was a child, he liked seeing the cherry blossoms fall on his way to school, the sweet humming of the bees, his conversations with Osawa at the school gate, the smile that Fushiguro wore when he came across stray cats before arriving at middle school. The simple joy of seeing a few rays of sunshine after months of freezing weather. But now, twenty-one-year-old Yuuji no longer finds spring magical. And how he misses the magic he loved so much. Grief made spring taste bitter, sadder, less enjoyable.
It has been six years since he lost his grand-father, meaning he was struggling with his life since then. Wasuke was his only family before Choso found him. He loves them both but still, Choso would never be able to replace what Wasuke was to Yuuji. Sometimes, Yuuji allows himself to think about him, to be sad and to cry. Like right now, on his walk home, with hyperpop blasting through his headphones. Some other times, he would rather die than think or God-forbid, talk about it. Boxing is his only way to take is mind off things, a Great Distraction. Being able to punch, to rip, again and again, destroying God-knows how many punching balls to not let his thoughts destroying him in return.
Eventually, he stops in front of a building. A gust of wind whips his face and he slowly comes out of his thoughts. He takes a deep breath and dries his tears before searching for his keys in his pocket. He opens the glass door, greets the concierge with this beautiful smile of his and walks to the elevator. Once inside, he glances at his phone and sees a message from his roommate.

Will you be home for dinner ?
➲ 20:17
He looks at the time, 21:58, he hisses and at the same time, the metallic doors open. He moves towards his front door, opens and is welcomed with a faint sound of guitar coming from his roommate’s bedroom.
“I’m home !” Yuuji announces, removing his shoes and headphones.
He follows the experimental melody playing at the end of the corridor, then lightly knocks at the door. Megumi doesn’t respond, Yuuji assumes he’s just really focused on his music. He doesn’t bother him more and makes himself noodles after a deserved hot shower, where he cried for the second time this evening. He gets to bed early tonight, drained by his training and his crying seshs.
However, Morpheus does not come to him. It’s two o'clock in the morning and he’s wide awake. Megumi must be asleep now, Yuuji no longer hears the guitar’s melody. He only hears the crackling of the dark, buzzing into his hears.
The night is silent. Too damn silent.
No more distraction.
Only Yuuji’s distress.
To distract himself, he begins to analyse his room. The Hungers Games posters hung on the wall opposite to his bed, so he can see JLaw every night before going to bed. Some photos he took with his friends from his high school’s cinema club : Junpei and Ozawa. On his desk, a terrifying amount of homework is waiting for him, he started them all but absolutely did not dare to finish them.
His eyes stop on a framed photograph. His heart inflates. It’s a picture of his grandfather, his best friend and him, back when the two latter were children. Wasuke looked at them with a strange sense of pride, his friend smiled shyly into the camera and Yuuji hugged him, keeping him plastered at his side.
His eyes dart and stay locked on Megumi’s face. His best friend.
His new crush.
Or that’s what he tells himself. To avoid accepting the fact that he’s not good with his feelings, not good enough to be conscious about them.
They've known each other since forever. One day in primary school, Yuuji went to talk to the kid with green eyes. He followed him around all afternoon and they instantly became inseparable.
They grew up together. Megumi's house was basically his, he spent all his afternoons at the Gojo's. There, they played, talked or even stared at each other in silence until Yuuji's patience split and it became impossible for him not to talk to his friend.
Megumi had seen him go through every phase of his life : from the total jerk he was in middle school to the jock he was in college. Megumi was there when Yuuji lost Wasuke. He was there when he got his ADHD diagnosis. He was there when he started his treatment. Megumi was always there for him. His personal angel, as he likes to call him. In return, Yuuji was always there too. Yuuji was there when he came out as transgender. Yuuji helped him cutting his hair : their best memory. They were fourteen and alone in Megumi's house when the latter asked him to cut his hair. An impulsive thought. Yuuji did not hesitate —of course he didn’t— he grabbed a pair of kitchen scissors and cut his spiky long hair without an ounce of regret.
"And voilà !"
"Oh, my gods, my parents are going to kill me."
"You're kidding ? If they had to kill someone, it's gonna be me !" Yuuji sings the lyrics from that NSYNC song. "I cut their favourite son’s hair."
“I’m their only son, idiot.” Megumi puts his hand on his face, groaning. “How my sisters are going to react ?”
“They’re gonna love it ! You look so good Megumi !” It was the first time Yuuji used his first name, the one he had just chosen. “And Megumi is a beautiful name, you chose it well. They’re gonna love every single part of you.”
A nervous laugh escapes Fushiguro’s mouth, the laugh that was reserved for Yuuji and only him. "You really think I look good ?"
"You're the handsomest boy to ever handsome Fushi." Yuuji hugged him, his arms enveloping Megumi from behind. Their cheeks were against each other, maybe a little red from emotions. Megumi only smiled at this and looked at the reflection on the mirror. He only saw who he really was, a man. Yuuji's best friend.
That day, they laughed so hard, then cried because they were really scared of Satoru’s and Suguru’s reactions and laughed again, because honestly, who cares ?
They've lived together since college, first in a small dorm in their campus and now in a beautiful two-bedrooms appartement, at the core of Tokyo (thanks to Satoru's disgustingly big amount of money).
He'd seen him naked, more than once (one day, Yuuji could have swear he had cancer because of too much moles gathered around his pelvis. Megumi stills mock him about it. Yuuji swears it was the most terrifying day of his life.). They already spelt on the same bed together. They even already kissed once, for god’s sake ! Okay, they were sixteen and high. It was both their first kiss and maybe Yuuji never experienced a kiss that good ever since because Megumi’s lips were just— Stop. Yuuji refuses to think about it, or else he’s going to cry, or spiral, or fantasize, or, or….
He’s a grown-ass man.
He won’t think about it tonight. Period.
Megumi knew everything that he needed to know about Yuuji.
There’s only one thing Fushiguro Megumi doesn’t know about Yuuji and doesn't really need to know either.
It's how disgustingly in love he is with him.
𖦹
His alarm buzzes, he groans then switches it off and goes back to the sleep he hardly earned the night before.
“Wake up loser !” Someone throws a sport bag in his face without mercy.
“Ugh ! Who the fuck let you in ?”
He knows who it is, he just doesn’t want to accept the fact that she’s really here.
“’Bara please ! It’s Friday, let me sleeeeep.” He whines, the sound muffled in his pillow as he tries to suffocate himself.
“No ! We run. Get your ass ready now !”
“What time is it ?”
“Time to fucking wake up, meathead ! Let’s go !” She declares, already in her leggings and sports bra, hair tied in a perky ponytail that looks like it could stab someone if it tried.
She leaves his bedroom and, like the annoying little sister she is, keeps the door wide open. Yuuji complains a little bit before laughing at Nobara’s determination. He’s usually a morning person but today, getting out of bed seems a little too complicated. Just one of those days, he thinks sadly. He doesn’t stay mad at her for long though, because he’s physically incapable of being mad at anyone for more than two minutes. So, he splashes some water on his face, looks at himself in the mirror and pouts when he sees his tired eyes. He takes a deep breath and heads to the living room.
“You look like shit.” Fushiguro says, sat on a bar stool. The ones they bought when they first moved out here.
“Well good morning to you too Megumi.” Yuuji jokes, his lips form a smile that reveals the dimples above his cheeks.
His roommate groans, tired and grumpy, Yuuji’s stomach does a little flip (but he decides to ignore it). The raven-haired man looks up at his friends once his black coffee has finished brewing.
“What are you doing again ?” He asks, sipping his bitter beverage slowly. Yuuji doesn’t respond, hypnotise by the way his friend’s lips redden in contact with the warmth drink. Megumi licks his inferior lip, and his movements seem to play in slow motion in Itadori’s mind. So maddingly slow. His heart is beating into his eardrums, he feels like his head is about to explode when he hears Nobara clears her throat. His ridiculous bubble of reveries pops and he looks at her :
“Jog and gossip.” She takes a banana from their fruit bowl. “Wanna join ?”
“No.” Megumi deadpans, taking a spoon of rice into his mouth. Yuuji looks away from his mouth, or else he’ll go absolutely insane. He already is.
“You’re no fun.”
“I don't see what's fun about running with no purpose in sub-zero temperatures.”
“It’s about the thrill.” Adds Yuuji. “You’re running and suddenly life is worth the living y’know ?” He jokes.
Megumi rolls his eyes and heads to his bedroom, his breakfast in hands. “I don’t. I’m going to study. But enjoy yourselves, you psychos.”
“You really need to find a hobby.” Megumi flips Nobara off before disappearing into his bedroom.
The morning is crisp. The sidewalk hasn’t heated yet, and the city still feels half-asleep. Their feet pound the pavement, inhaling and exhaling steam like two little locomotives. Nobara talks. Of course she is. About her castings, about that fact that she’d been noticed by Someone Important, capital letters implicit in every syllable.
“So, if this pans out, I could have actual casting calls. Real ones. As in, pay checks. As in, people will finally respect my unmatched talent and devastating beauty.”
“I already respect those,” Yuuji says, slightly winded.
“As you should, duh.”
They loop around the park and hit the empty basketball court. She helps him train : footwork, short combinations, kicks, then mitt drills. They gossip between rounds. Nobara complains about her neighbour, an annoying guy who is apparently one of Maki’s cousins. ‘Another one ? That family tree, man.’ Yuuji thinks, confused.
Then, it’s Yuuji’s turn to complain and of course, he talks about his crush.
“I need to get him out of my system.” Yuuji pants. He punches a pad, Nobara kicks him back.
“Too late.” Yuuji lets out a confused sound. “You literally live with him. And, you’re eye-fucking him every time he walks into a room, it actually makes me sick.”
“Do not.” He denies, shameful.
“Do too.”
“Shut up…” Yuuji shakes his head, denying. “He’ll never want me that way.”
Nobara gives him an unimpressed look that says : ‘Seriously dude ?’ and silently (read : loudly) judges him. “I can’t with you.” She concludes. Yuuji decides to ignore her comment. They run another lap, Nobara teases him all the way back.
By noon, Yuuji’s back home, showered, and he spends the rest of his day studying. Alone. Time passes by, it’s past seven now. Megumi’s not home and Yuuji starts to get a little worried. He takes his phone to message his friend.
[me]

➲ 19:44
No response. He waits.
Yuuji’s not known for his patience, so he sends a second message.

➲ 19:56
Yuuji smiles like an idiot in front of his phone. His heart is beating fast, from frustration, from love, from everything. Megumi will never know how much power he has over him. One ridiculous emoji has him giggling like a teenager. Then, he realises he won’t see Megumi tonight, and suddenly, he feels like his head is about to explode.
He throws himself face-first onto his bed, muffles a yell into the pillow, then messages Nobara :
[me]
i hate him

Nobara replies instantly :

➲ 20:09
They talk a little bit after, Nobara sends him dumb Tik Toks that she knows will make him laugh. That’s her way of telling him I’m here for you.
After one hour of brainrot, he decides to make dinner. Without even realise it, he makes mac n cheese for two and unconsciously yells Megumi’s name in their empty apartment. He pauses, then pouts while realising he won’t eat dinner with his roommate tonight.
It’s not the first time, Megumi’s always busy. He studies for vet school, he works at the animal shelter, he practices with his band. Megumi’s allowed to be busy.
So why Yuuji wants to cry his absence tonight ?
Why his stupid feelings won’t let him live normally ?
Yes, he’s in love with his best friend. Why does he feel like he must punish himself over and over because of it ?
Why feelings are so fucking complicated ?
He eats alone, half laying on his couch watching a dumb reality show. When he’s done, he just grabs a sticky note and writes :
Don’t know if I’ll see you tomorrow, have a great day of work and don’t forget your lunch, it’s in the fridge ! And good luck with ur assignments, nerd ;)
He adds a little doodle because he can’t help himself, a tiny wolf chewing a book. It says : grr homework.
He sticks the paper to the fridge and heads to his room, after he washed the dishes. He spends most of his night looking for a film to watch on his computer before deciding to watch The Hunger Games Saga for the billionth time. Thirty minutes into the second film, he hears the front door.
Careful footsteps. The sweet humming of an unknown music. Megumi moves quietly, like a shadow trying not to disturb the appartement. Yuuji wonders what he’s thinking : if he’s tired, if he saw the note, if it made him smile and, and, and...
He stops the film and stares at the ceiling. He lies awake for another night, sleep never quite finds him.
𖦹
Another week pass and Yuuji’s mental health is really playing with him. Some days are fine, not good, just fine. The others make him want to jump out of a roof. He hasn’t had these thoughts in a while and having them now, while he thought everything was starting to feel good again, makes him believes he’s just cursed. He feels tired, and unmotivated, and depressed and he needs to spent time with his roommate, whom he has hardly seen all week. Megumi is his personal dopamine shot, if he doesn’t see him, Yuuji can’t actually function well. The thought sometimes terrifies him. Yet, it feels so good to be alive for someone. At least, he feels like he has an actual purpose in his life since his grandpa’s death.
So, knowing it’s been a while since the whole group gathered for a night out and feeling like the biggest shit since last Friday, Yuuji accepts immediately when Nobara texts him : karaoke night, you two better be there !
He needs to have fun, he needs to see his friends and he really needs to go out with Megumi. Because a night out is equal to Megumi dressing up and Yuuji just lives for that. He is literally just a man.
It’s almost 8pm, they should have left an hour ago. But here they are :
“What do you think about this one Yuuji ?” Megumi asks, leaving his bedroom to present himself in front of his best friend, sat on the couch.
And the view leaves Yuuji speechless, as always.
Megumi wears a low-raise flare black jeans that allow his hip tattoo to peek out, a black sleeveless turtleneck that hug the muscles of his chest. Three or four belts hung around his hips, making his waist look even thinner than it already is and black leather bracelets are decorating both of his wrists. He wears his big black boots, the ones that made him reach Yuuji’s height.
Yuuji wants to drool. Maybe he does drool. Megumi’s so damn beautiful it almost feels illegal. He wears eyeliner too, and Gods, it makes his lashes look longer and his green eyes so piercing, captivating, enchanting...
Is he allowed to look that good ?
Hungry brown eyes are trailing down the muscles of his naked arms, his irises stare at the way the jeans are hugging Megumi’s toned thighs and he wonders what it would be like to be suffocated between them. He blinks, realising his own thoughts before forming a new one :
He’s so fucking horny.
That’s another reason why he feels so miserable, he hasn’t got laid in ages.
Since he realised his feelings for Megumi, months ago. Somehow, fucking someone else (as if there’s a someone already) would feel like betrayal. How fucked up is that ?
Then, Nobara’s voice pops in his head : “You’re eye-fucking him every time he walks into a room.”. And, as if to prove her wrong (because he knows she’s right), he looks away. His cheeks are red, he releases a shaky breath before saying :
“You’re… That’s perfect Megumi.” Yuuji smiles, avoiding making direct eye contact with his best friend, otherwise he just might jump on him. “Let’s go ? They must be waiting for us.”
He stands up from his seat on the couch, Megumi’s behind him.
“Hey Yuuji.”
“Yeah ?”
“We haven’t seen each other almost all week. It was weird.”
Yuuji’s cheeks are reddening again. He grips his car keys until his knuckles turn white.
“It was. You work too much.” A pause, they stare at each other in a way only them could understand. “I missed you too Megumi, that’s what you wanted to hear ?” Yuuji laughs sweetly.
Megumi smiles softly at him than grab his jacket before walking in front of Yuuji, their apartment keys in hand.
“You said it.”
Yuuji looks down at his lips for a micro-second, mentally slaps himself and heads to the stairs. Then, he has an idea,
“Tag, you’re it !” He touches his roommate’s shoulder. “The first who arrives at my car doesn’t pay for the first round !” And he begins to run down the stairs. He hears Megumi’s voice yelling behind him :
“Fuck you, you piece of shit ! I can’t run in Docs ! Yuuji !”
“Don’t be so slow Megumi !”
Their laughter echoes in the small stairwell. And Yuuji feels alive again.
“Thought you’’ll never arrive ! You’re all red, what have you been up to ?” Nobara suggests, wriggling her eyebrows while staring at Yuuji with a smug smile.
Yuuji raises his hand to touch his still-burning cheeks. After their race (that Yuuji won, by the way), they talked and laughed and joked on their way to the bar, making up for the week where they haven’t seen each other.
Yuuji shakes his head, Megumi explains :
“Nothing. Yuuji just took forever to get ready.”
“Hey ! Stop lying, you’re the one taking forever !” Yuuji fakes offend, his smile betrays him.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Megumi walks toward the bar. “I’m going to pay us a round. I won’t support that much people around me if I’m sober.”
He waves at Yuuji, his slender fingers twirling in the air. Yuuji follows his every movement, the swig of his hips while he walks, his perfect back and his shoulders… and Yuuji unconsciously licks his inferior lip.
“Ew. We’re in public. Get your shit together.” Nobara says before taking his forearm and guiding him into a karaoke booth. “Anyway, let’s sing babe !”
The booths are cool. There are sofas and tables and the walls are made of glass, so the people inside could both sing and be able to look at the bar section. Maki and Yuuta sing the first two songs, Toge and Megumi just looks at them, amused. Nobara does a duet with her roommate before commanding Yuuji to sing with her, too unmotivated by Maki’s beautiful voice. She needs someone as mediocre as her.
They sing off-key, but it feels so good to not be perfect. They sing and laugh a lot. So much he doesn’t even see when Megumi leaves the box to buy another drink. Kugisaki takes another sip of her overly-sweet cocktail before putting a Lady Gaga song :
“Yuuji ! That’s our song !”
“Oh yes !”
They get ready. Nobara dance to the beat before opening the song : “I wanna kiss you.”
“But if I do then I might miss you, babe.” Yuuji continues, singing with all his heart.
“It’s complicated and stupid.”
“Got my ass squeezed by sexy Cupid.”
They feel like real rockstars. Nobara climbs on the coffee table, nearly speeling all of their drinks on the floor, dancing and laughing :
“Guess he wants to play, wants to play.”
Yuuji picks her up, one arm hugging her thigh, the other holding the microphone.
“A love game, a love game.”
Nobara convinces herself she could do all the add-libs of the song, Yuuji laughs hearing her off-key note and decides to join her will staring outside of the booth, now noticing that his roommate is no longer sat with them.
Soon, he spots him and everything turns dull. His smile drops slowly as he watches Megumi put a single strand of hair behind his ear. The man is tall, around the same height as Yuuji, dressed in all black with piercings and tattoos on his skin. Yuuji suddenly feels ridiculous with his dumb yellow sweatshirt and his faded baggy jeans. His hair has a strange colour —says the man whose hair is bright fucking pink— green and blue, mixed with orange ? It doesn’t suit him, really. The stranger’s hand is resting on Fushiguro’s forearm, gently thumbing the thin skin there. Yuuji’s insides twist. The feeling feels raw, a little humiliating, and extremely not chill. He stumbles and grips the table next to him. ‘I’m not jealous’, he lies to himself.
♫ Hold me and love me, just wanna touch you for a minute ♫
Yuuji didn’t drink, yet he feels more nauseous than anyone in this karaoke bar. Being a spectator of all of this makes him sick. He could feel claws circling his heart and threatening to tear it out of his chest. He feels like crying for the billionth time this week. He really is going to puke. Here, on that ugly carpet.
♫ Maybe three seconds is enough for my heart to quit it ♫
His eyes lost their focus. Suddenly Megumi and the surroundings start to blur, everything becomes dots of colours, dizzy and sickening, messing with Yuuji’s head. The songs from all of the booths are mixing in his mind, laughs, the smell of alcohol, that fucking pair of eyes staring at Megumi as if he were a piece of bread.
♫ Let’s have some fun this beat is sick, I wanna take a ride on your disco stick ♫
It's too much.
Yuuji’s about to pass out.
He needs to go outside. Now.
The song is not finished, but honestly, he doesn’t even care anymore. All he wants is fresh air and a corner where he could scream and punch something, or someone. He’s tense, so tense he might actually explode. His fists and jaw are clenched, threatening to break his own bones.
When he’s finally outside, Earth seems to rotate again. He takes a deep breath in, then a deep breath out, closing his eyes. He shrugs half of his glass of water. The fresh breeze of the night gently whips is face, calming his nerves. He no longer wants to cry, nor puke. ‘That’s reassuring’, he thinks.
He takes his phone from his pocket, puts his noise-cancelling headphones on and starts to doomscroll. He can vaguely make out the smell of cigarettes and weed surrounding him, mixed with the faint smell of rain. His eyes stare at the little screen, liking some food or workouts videos. He looks at Nobara’s story, likes a photo of her and Maki getting ready for tonight and laughs at a dumb shitpost she reposted.
Someone shakes his hand in front of his eyes. Confused, he furrows his brows and finally stares in front of him. Megumi is here, Yuuji’s heart skips a beat.
"Are you okay ?" His roommate asks, he looks worried.
Yuuji looks around, he doesn’t see the other man. It would be lying to say he isn’t pleased to notice that. “I’m good, no worries !" He smiles, bright as always. His cheeks are pink —he can feel their warmth—, he hopes Megumi won’t notice it.
"Are you sure ?" His friend raises a brow and puts a hand on his hips. “You looked like you were about to fight the air.”
“Air deserves it sometimes.” Megumi gives him a look. Yuuji lowers his head, faking defeat.
“Okay, you got me.” Yuuji says, rubbing the back of his neck. He wears an apologetic smile. “I'm just a little bit overstim, don’t worry about me."
"Do you want to go home ?" Megumi approaches him, they are way too close but Yuuji cannot bring himself to keep his distance. He stares at his best friend, and Yuuji suddenly thinks he’s no better than the stranger who was flirting with him minutes ago. Yuuji too, wanted to eat him all. Not in dirty, filthy way though. No, he wants to bite and kiss and worship Megumi. To show him how much he’s loved. He can do this all lifelong.
Oh, to adore him, to touch his body sculpted by the Moon herself, to pray and pray again for Megumi to acknowledge him. He just wants to show him that he’s right there, that Yuuji’s capable of anything for him. Megumi was his God, his everything and the thought frightens Yuuji. How could he be so obsessed with someone ?
Yet, it’s simple. Megumi’s presence eases him, always did. Megumi has that serene strength —the one Yuuji lacks off and desperately needs. He’s everything Yuuji’s not and that’s what makes him so special, so amazing to the other’s eyes. He’s smart, responsible, humble, hot. He’s everything.
He’s shaken back to reality.
“Hey ! You didn’t smoke, did you ?” Megumi asks, definitely worried.
“No, no. I’m good, just tired. I’m sorry.” Yuuji blunts, embarrassed.
“Don’t be.” Megumi smiles at him. “So, do you want to go home ? If yes, I’m going with you.”
“No ! Enjoy your night out, Meg. You’re working so hard, you deserve some fun ! Weren’t you talking with a dude over there ? He must be waiting for you !” Yuuji laughs, but it sounds so fake it makes him cringe. It came out a little too fast, a little bit too irritated to be taken as a simple joke.
“I don’t care about him. I care about you.” Megumi says, as if it’s the most obvious thing on Earth.
Yuuji just died.
He cannot show it of course, but I definitely died from a heart attack. He downs the rest of his water, smiles and waits for Megumi to continue.
“I'm down if you want to go home and watch horror movies.”
That tone. The one that drives Yuuji crazier than he already is. That sultry voice always makes him believe Megumi’s flirting with him. Yes, Yuuji is just that fucked-up about his feelings.
“You’re just looking for excuses to be able to hide your face behind my shoulder. Just say it.” Yuuji tries to answer with the same playful tone.
“Horror movies don't scare me.” Megumi deadpans. “Who do you think I am Yuuji ?”
“You're a tough guy Meg.”
“I know.”
Yuuji puffs, leaning against the cold wall of bricks. Megumi sips the drink he held on his left hand, looking around him. Then, he lifts his free hand then hesitates before it makes contact with Yuuji.
"Can I touch you ?"
His brows are a little furrowed. Yuuji finds it cute.
"Yeah, it's you. Don't bother asking."
"I'd rather be sure."
Megumi pats his shoulder calmly, caressing his muscles through the thick fabric of his sweatshirt.
Megumi is not a physical attention type of guy, but he’s just considerate like that. Yuuji will forever remember the day when Megumi asked all of their friends what was their love language, so he could show his affection properly to everyone. Since then, he makes sure to encourage Toge and Yuuta with kind words, to offer an astronomic number of gifts to Nobara, to spend time with Choso and Maki practicing.
And he always makes sure that Yuuji has the physical attention he needs. It never had been weird, because somewhat, physical touch between them is just natural. The right thing to do.
The movement alone makes Yuuji forgets about everything that happened that night. He forgets about his jealousy, the green-haired stranger, his panic attack. None of that exists right now. Just Megumi’s hands on his shoulder.
"I'm going to smoke a bit with Inumaki and Okkostu.” Megumi announces, taking away his hand slowly. Yuuji immediately misses his warmth. “They’re here.” He points with his chin, revealing their friends curled up against each other, next to Panda. “Tell me when you want to head out.”
Yuuji nods. "Okay ! Be safe."
“Will be.” He waves at him, watching him siting with their friends. Yuuji stares at him taking a long drag of the joint, his shoulders relaxing instantly after the hit.
Several minutes passed, Yuuji is now on his phone, texting Nobara who asked where he disappeared.

“Hey. I’m sorry to bother you…” A girl starts, twirling a strand of hair in around her finger.
He raises his head and meets two big green eyes. A girl is standing in front of him. She’s tall, she’s blond. A white minidress hug every curve of her body. She’s gorgeous, Yuuji thinks before smiling at her.
“Oh, no, you don’t ! Can I help you ?” He asked politely.
“You’re The Tiger of the West. Itadori Yuuji, right ?” The pinked haired man nods. “My name’s Hana. I saw your fights, you’re amazing. Really, you’re a natural. A lot of people think you have no technique but actually you’re always so grounded and focused. That’s impressive.” She starts rambling and Yuuji slightly blushes at the praise. It’s the first time someone recognises him from MMA, a proud feeling fills his chest. He smiles like an idiot, and exclaims :
“Thank you so much ! Thanks for seeing that, really.” Yuuji takes a step forwards. “I’m sorry. Can I hug you ?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Hana smiles, eyes shining as Yuuji takes her in a friendly embrace.
“You’re doing MMA too ?” Yuuji asks, separating from her.
“No, I wish but I definitely don’t have enough courage to do that.” She laughs softly. Yuuji leans against the wall, attentive. “I’m studying journalism. I’m watching from afar and hope I can become a commentator one day.” She crosses her fingers.
“That’s amazing !”
They laugh together and talk for a few minutes before Hana takes her phone out of her pocket.
“Could we take a picture together please ?”
“Of course !” Yuuji exclaims. They pose, he flashes a peace sign and a toothy smile next to her.
“Thank you so much ! My friend will not believe this !”
Yuuji smiles then looks next to her and meets another pair of green eyes. His favourite pair of green eyes, actually.
“Megumi !”
“Hey.” Megumi stares at him, then at Hana and he frows. “Having fun ?” His words are confused and slurred. Yuuji soon realises he’s high, the white of his eyes turned red, contrasting with his jade iris.
Hana blushes, looks between them before checking the time. “I think my friend is waiting for me. I’ll leave you to it.”
“It was so cool talking to you.”
“With you too. Thank you again, for everything ! Bye !”
“Can’t wait to see you comment my matches !” Hana laughs before leaving his side, Yuuji waves her goodbye.
“I wanna go home.” Megumi mutters under his breath. His cheeks are red, he looks angry. He takes Yuuji’s hand in his and he leans on his shoulder, body both heavy and floaty.
“I got you. Let me text ‘Bara first.” He does just that before taking Megumi to his car.
The road to their apartment is calm and only minutes away from the karaoke club. Fushiguro is quite talkative when he’s high. He mumbles something about a girl, Yuuji’s smile and the green haired guy. When they arrive, Megumi is clinging at his side, refusing to leave a single inch separate them.
“You hungry ?”
“I could eat.” Megumi chants. Yuuji busies himself filling a glass of water for Megumi, trying to ignore how his voice felt like honey to his ears. He gives it to him and Megumi thanks him, his eyes half-closed and cloudy, body leaning on the kitchen counter. Yuuji has his back turned on him. Megumi takes three big gulps before sighing.
“You know sometimes, I just look at you and…” He sighs again, the raven-haired steps towards him and grabs his shoulders from behind. His hot breath brushes the back of Yuuji’s neck, the latter tenses slightly and tries to focus on the dishes is washing.
“Sometimes I feel like I could eat you alive.”
Yuuji freezes, then something twirls in his lower abdomen. No, no, no. He must have not understood properly. The pink-haired clears his throat. “Uh, what ?”
“You look chewable, I don’t know…” Megumi starts rambling. “With all those muscles, and that stupid face of yours.”
Next thing he knows, Megumi’s grabbing his chin. Incapable of tearing his eyes away from these beautifully green gemstones, Yuuji maintains their eye contact.
Something happens. It lasts a microsecond, a heartbeat, but Yuuji feels it : the sudden shift in the air. Everything becomes heavier, more intense, more electric.
‘Megumi looks chewable too…’. Their lips are getting closer and closer. So, so close. Maybe too close. Yuuji almost falls into the temptation, eyes half-lidded.
Then, an alarm rings in his head. Screaming at him like he was about to make the biggest mistake of his entire life. He needs to get a fucking grip on himself.
As if awakening from a dream, he startled : “Hey, hey. No. Wait. You’re high. And drunk. And I’m sober. And we can’t do this.” He gently pushes Megumi away from him.
The raven-haired opens his eyes slowly, already grimacing at his behaviour. “Uh… Sorry Yuuji…”
“No.” Yuuji voice is high pitched, completely panicked. “It’s okay, don’t worry. We’re okay.” Yuuji grips his friend’s shoulders and run his hands up and down, soothing him. “Go choose the film. I’m going to make meatballs. With extra ginger.” Yuuji smiles softly at him before he gets to work, releasing Megumi from his anxious grip. Megumi nods before leaving the kitchen, head down, embarrassed.
The rest of the night goes smoothly. As smooth as it can be between two guys who almost kissed in their kitchen. Sure, they’ve kissed before but they were dumb teenagers and they trusted each other enough to share that together without it being weird. It was a one-time thing, really.
It was before Yuuji ruined everything by falling in love.
Yuuji’s tense for the entire time and Megumi eventually tries to brush it off and acts like nothing happened. His mind must be really hazy, too hazy to think about whatever-did-not-happened between them. Because of course, nothing happened. So Yuuji doesn’t have to worry about anything. Right ?
RIGHT ?????
That night, wrapped up in his blanket, Yujji didn't sleep a wink. A neon sign flashes in his brain for six hours non-stop : MEGUMI ALMOST KISSED ME AND I. AM. NOT. OKAY.
𖦹
For two weeks after the incident, everything feels strained with uncertainty. Everyone feels the quiet tension between the two roommates, yet everybody tries to ignore it for the better.
Soon, their mid-terms become their excuse for not talking to each other. Megumi, as always, is busy between rehearsals, studies and work. Yuuji's tries to deal with his relapse and his training.
No one mentions the karaoke. The conversation. The almost-kiss. Megumi and Yuuji avoid looking at each other for too long, they avoid being in the same room for more than five minutes. For two weeks, they just orbit around each other. Exchanging two or three awkward interactions before retreating in their respective bedroom.
They’ve never been like this. Distant with each other.
Yuuji lays awake on his bed every night. Having a crush makes him feel like a lunatic. He hates it. Yuuji doesn’t hate a lot of things in life, but he knows for a fact that he hates this version of himself.
One day he wants to tell him everything, the other he wants to insult him for not seeing what he does to him. These contradictory feelings, again and again, every single day since he realised this fucking romantic attraction that drives him mad.
He’s never been like that. ‘Like that’ meaning, absolutely terrified of his feelings. He’s had crushes before : his first girlfriend in middle school, that one situationship with a guy from his baseball team in high school, yet, none of them felt as intense as it is with Megumi. With his best friend, Yuuji feels like his senses are on overdrive five-hundred percent of the time. Always waiting for Megumi to talk to him, to smile because of him, to joke with him. As if his brain isn’t overworking since the day he was born.
He could swear their apartment lights are brighter when Megumi walks in. He could swear the sound of typing on a keyboard is erotic just because Megumi is producing it. He spends his days wondering what would happen if they kissed right now, at twenty-one-year-old, if it would feel the same as that particular evening in their teenage years. And he spends his nights touching himself at the mere thought of his lips against Megumi’s skin before crying about how disgusting he feels afterwards.
He feels like a dog. A stupid, idiot, horny, dog.
And Yuuji’s a caveman : Man + Sport = Man Happy. So, of course, he goes to the gym because otherwise he will combust. His brain both works non-stop and not that well. He can only think about Megumi’s hot hot hot breath against his lips, his firm grip and his words : ‘I could eat you alive’.
He works the heavy bag. Combinations until his knuckles throb. Breath sharp. Thoughts on loop, again and again and again.
Don’t think about it.
His voice.
Don’t think about it.
His fingers.
Don’t think about it.
His eyes.
Don’t think—
He ends up thinking about it. Of course he does. In every punch he pours his frustration, his thirst, his unsatiable want.
The bag makes a strange noise, Yuuji stops and kicks his water bottle instead. He doesn’t have enough money to pay two new punching balls to Yuki.
“Damn.” Says a voice. Yuuji turns. Choso’s leaning against the wall, hoodie’s half-zipped, gym bag slung on one shoulder. “You good?”
“Yeah,” Yuuji lies, wiping his forehead.
“Are you trying to kill the bag ? And yourself ?” Choso asks, appearing to genuinely wonder.
“I’m releasing anxiety,” Yuuji counters, punching again, lightly this time. ‘By punching thoughtlessly into any object that cross your path, you’re really a loser, Yuuji.’ He sighs at his own thought, resting his sticky forehead on the red leather of the bag.
“That anxiety has a name?” Choso raises an eyebrow, slowly approaching his little brother. “You want to talk about it ?” He tries, posted next to him.
Yuuji turns his head to look at him.
“I don’t… I just feel depressed. Been thinking about Gramps lately… And there are other things, too.” He shakes his head. “M’not doing well but promise I’ll be better by your concert.” He sighs again, he’s just so tired. “You don’t deserve a grumpy, overthinker and unfunny Yuuji.” He jokes dryly.
Choso doesn’t say anything before pulling his brother into a warm hug. It takes him by surprise, because his elder is not someone who usually initiate physical contact.
“You know you don't have to be on top of your form all the time. Sometimes you just have to be yourself, and that's enough. We love 5% Yuuji as much as we love 100% Yuuji.” The dark-haired man has his big-brother stare on, looking at Yuuji as if he were made of thin ice, careful of his every word and movement. Yuuji’s a bit taller than his brother, yet he still feels like a little kid when he’s next to him. “Okay ?”
Yuuji nods. “Okay.” He sniffs, avoiding tears to fall from his eyes.
“And, for the anxiety thing…” Choso begins. “Just so you know, he's in the same state as you.”
Yuuji raises his head, suddenly really interested. “What ?”
“Yesterday, when we were rehearsing, he was so distracted Maki had to put him back on track more than three times. He doesn’t usually do that.” Choso pouts a little, looking at his brother with his exhausted and concerned eyes. “I don’t know what happened between you two, but you need to talk it out. Both of you need it.”
“Yeah, I know. I’ll try.”
“Good.” Choso smiles softly. “I was here for Yuki. But I’m glad I ran into you, you wouldn’t have text me otherwise.”
“Well, that’s… Correct. I’m sorry.” He does feel guilty, he knows Choso will always be there for him but it’s out of his power, he’s just incapable of opening up without feeling like a burden. His heart is a stupid animal that hasn’t been tamed properly.
“Don’t be. I’m going to go.” He takes a few steps back, walking towards the door. “But next time if you want to self-destruct, I’d prefer a warning so I can film it for Yuki, she’d love to see you crash out again.”
Choso looks at him from behind, smiling proudly. Yuuji snorts and the world seems to start spinning again.
“I’m home !” Yuuji announces while closing the door behind him. He doesn’t expect a response, so when Megumi appears in the entrance, he lets out a surprised noise.
“Hey Yuuji.”
“Hi Megumi !” He clears he throat. “You’re ok ?”
“I am. You ?”
Yuuji just shrugs. He cannot bring himself to lie. They both stay silent. The tension between them is so thick you could’ve tear it with a knife, the silence stretches for a long time and Megumi looks like he wants to hide. He opens his mouth, closes it, then open it again. Awkward.
“Tomorrow, I rehearse with I.H.M.D. for Saturday’s concert.” A pause, Megumi looks away. “You wanna come ?”
Yuuji’s heart skips a beat, he blushes. The pink-haired man nods, smiling softly at Megumi.
“Yeah, of course.” He takes off his shoes and his jacket. “…I heard you couldn’t concentrate.” Yuuji tries with a playful tone.
Megumi raises his eyebrows, his eyes shining with amusement. “Who told you that ?”
“I got my resources.”
“Choso.” His roommate gives him a look before smiling at him. He leans against the wall, hesitates again then finally : “I’m sorry I’ve been busy Yuuji. We barely talked. Once again, that was weird. That’s not like us.”
‘Then what is us Megumi ?’
Yuuji could feel this isn’t the only reason why he apologises. He could almost hear the ‘I’m sorry I tried to kiss you. It was a mistake’.
“Don’t be sorry, what the hell ?” Yuuji approaches, before posting himself in front of his roommate. The latter’s resting on the wall, arms crossed against his torso. “That’s okay !”
‘Denial. Denial. Denial. I couldn’t stand a day without seeing you. It was hard and I felt like shit and I missed you and I want to kiss you, so, so bad Megumi.’
Yuuji smiles at him, before enveloping him into a bear hug. “There’s no problem ! We’re good Megumi.”
He’s just trying to believe they’re good. He squeezes Megumi a little harder, just because he can. He resists the urge to grab his best friend’s waist and to make out with him in this instant. He feels like a creep just thinking about this.
“Ok. Cool, cool.”
The other boy seems to relax. They both let a shaky breath out of their mouth, releasing all the stress they’d built up over the past two weeks. Yuuji’s arms are wrapped around Megumi’s shoulders and his nose touch his untamed hair, letting him enjoy his flower sent.
‘I want to kiss you. I want to kiss you. I want to kiss you.’
Suddenly he understands why he avoided being around Megumi these days. He’s becoming clinically unwell over this. He knows his patience is on thin ice, his mind screams ‘KISS HIM’ at him 24/7. One wrong move and he loses fifteen years of friendship over a stupid crush.
He can’t just do that.
Can’t he ?
They part after what feels like an eternity. They look at each other for a little too long, trying to read the other’s mind, as always.
“I’m tired. Training. I’m gonna sleep.” Yuuji announces, trying to not stutter every word. He physically cannot handle more of Megumi today, otherwise he will make a real, big, messy mistake.
𖦹
Yuuji fell in love with Megumi like you fall in love in a movie. In that moment, everything felt brighter, lighter and sweeter.
It was five months ago, during I.H.M.D’s performance at a bar near their campus. Their first official concert. Yuuji still remembers when he helped with the creation of posters to warn the whole campus about it and they worked ! When he arrived, one hour before the beginning to cheer up his friends, the bar was already full. He felt proud, still does, whenever he sees how much their efforts were paying.
Yuuji enjoyed the concert. He liked the songs, he loved his friends even more and he absolutely adored the way Megumi looked on stage. As if he were made for it, and he was. He was between Maki —the lead singer— and Choso —the drummer—. Blue and purple lights were complimenting his soft features : the angle of his jaws, the plump of his glossy lips, the curve of his eyelashes… Everything looked perfect.
Megumi looked perfect.
Yuuji’s heart started to beat frighteningly fast, menacing to jump out of his chest to run and scream everywhere it goes. His cheeks heated up and his breath caught in his throat. He couldn’t hear the songs anymore ; he was only able to look at Megumi. Then, a voice, loud and clear in his brain whispered into his hear :
‘You are in love with your best friend.’
From that moment, Yuuji only knew one thing : how utterly fucked he was.
Right now, Megumi practices with his cousin and Yuuji’s brother. They’re adjusting for tomorrow’s concert. Nobara, Yuuta, Toge and Yuuji are watching them perform while Panda helps with the order of their set. It’s the first time they perform after the signing of their contract, and they can’t help the stress that comes with it.
Since that faithful night five months ago, watching Megumi perform does… things to him. Meaning : he gets really, really, worriedly, horny whenever he sees Megumi’s fingers running on the strings of his damn guitar.
Yuuji pretends to scroll his phone but his pseudo-cover is failing miserably, knowing he’s only able to watch Megumi’s hands. Long, slender and delicate fingers. Calluses catching on the strings. His painted nails. These symmetrical red tattoos on both of his wrists : triangles with circles on each peak. Yuuji starts to imagine these hands on his cheeks, then playing with the curls of his hair —grabbing, pulling—, trailing down his abs, exploring his mouth…
He feels his right eye twitch slightly before a voice stops his trance.
“Fuck ! I messed up again,” Megumi groans and angrily strikes the strings with his plectrum. “I’m sorry Maki-san, let’s do it again.”
“Megumi, just calm down.” Maki commands, she runs her hand through her short hair. “We’re okay, we just need to be serene. Your problem isn’t resolved yet ?”
“Well,” Megumi looks quickly at Yuuji then back at Maki. “I’m working on it.”
Yuuji’s blood immediately runs cold. Does he just imagine that or…?
Megumi tunes his guitar, pretending nothing happened (because he’s the king of avoidance) but his ears betray him, turning pink each time he could feel Yuuji’s eyes on him. At least he has the nerve to feel a little bit ashamed. For the rest of the rehearsal, Yuuji forces himself to look at his brother and his other friends, to remember that he’s not the only one in his room that Megumi wanted to look at.
One awkward conversation, a hug and a sexually frustrated rehearsal could not repair whatever-did-not-happen between them. They’re back at being weird with each other. Well, they did say ‘hi’ to each other this morning and they exchange a few words that weren’t just ‘did you sleep well ?’, so it can’t be really bad. Right ?
Yuuji doesn’t know and he can’t really explain it either. It —whatever it is— is weird. However, he still feels like it needs to end. Like, today. He doesn’t know why, but he feels like Megumi and him are living the last days of their friendship, for the better or the worst.
Yuuji is walking back and forth in his bedroom, from his bed to his door, again and again, until he feels his head spinning in his skull. He lays down on the floor and stare at the ceiling, waiting to feel a little less on a cloud. He turns his head to his right and catches his own reflection on the mirror at the feet of his desk.
He looks at himself. He thinks about Megumi (as if he’s been able to think about anything else lately), about their first kiss, about the tension between them.
And somehow, he wants to believe Megumi might feel the same. That’s what he hopes.
He’s going to tell him today. After the concert. Who cares, we’ll all die of something right ? If it has to be embarrassment, so be it !
Yuuji wants to confess to his best friend. He wants to be honest and tell him everything. At least to take it out of his mind, because he can feel his love for Megumi consuming every part of his life with each passing day.
Megumi left two hours ago, saying the band was rehearsing in the bar one last time before the concert. Yuuji offered him a bento for lunch and wished him good luck with the rehearsal, husband material.
It’s almost 3pm and Yuuji is already looking inside of his closet to find a look for tonight. He knows this adventure will be a mess, he knows he’s going to take one eternity or two before finding what he wants to wear and he’s ok with that, he’s ready to confront everything and everyone : his closet, himself and Megumi.
He tells himself he will look good. For his brother, for his best friend and mostly for himself. Yuuji is not someone who dress up often, he usually likes simple outfits : a sweatshirt, a jean and his sneakers. His arms and back are his favourite parts of his body. They’re toned and proofs his efforts, of all of his work. He’s used to not show these parts of his body that much, even if —let’s be real— he has all of the reasons to show them to everyone.
He takes his sweet time to get ready. And quickly, his alarm rings to let him know it's time to go. He looks at himself one last time : his tight-fitting tee-shirt, his low raise black jeans and his gold necklace, the one his grandfather gifted him when he was a kid. He feels hot, he feels good for the first time in weeks. He slicks his hair back has a final touch, winks at himself because he’s that type of guy, grabs his car keys and wallet before heading to the bar.
He realises he forgot the keys to his apartment when he enters the bar. He sighs but reassures himself by telling himself that Megumi surely has them. He looks around and soon spots Nobara, she talks loudly and laughs with their friends. He walks toward them, all smiley and handsome.
“Hi everyone !”
“Slut !” Nobara exclaims.
Yuuji’s smile drop, he clenches his necklace and looks at her, confused.
“What ? Is there something wrong ?”
“That’s a compliment bitch, the best I could ever give you.” Nobara looks at him up and down. “Not gonna lie, you look extra hot tonight babe.”
She sips her probably-too-sweet drink. It makes Yuuji smile, wide and bright. In fact, he wears that stupid shit-eating grin and tells himself ‘If Nobara tells me I’m hot, then Megumi will lose his mind over me’, and is it that bad ? To wish for a little attention ? It may sound selfish yet it makes Yuuji blush. Because for the first time in years, he wants to let himself hope for something more. Strangely enough, he believes tonight is the time.
“Ew,” Nobara states. “Stop with the creepy smile, I regret what I’ve just said to you.”
“I’m sorry ‘Bara,” He tries to refrains his smile. “I feel good tonight.”
“Glad to hear that.” She pats his shoulder before handing him a soft drink.
Soon enough, the lights switch off and some green and purple lights illuminates the stage. Nobara, Yuuji and their friends screams the band’s name, supportive and impatient. The first note of an original song plays, and Yuuji jumps out of joy. He didn’t know they’re playing originals tonight !
See, Megumi always likes music. It was his thing (besides animals). At his eleventh birthday party, Satoru and Suguru gifted him a guitar. Since then, he never stopped. At some point, he even did private concert for his sisters. Yet, he always refused to play his own scores with the group, too shy to show how talented of a composer he is. Because yes, Megumi composes music, he’s just cool like that. ‘I feel cringe about my music.’ He always says.
However, right now, Megumi was showing his work to everyone and the people — particularly Yuuji— loves it.
‘Everything can happen tonight.’
And there’s something inexplicably attractive in the way he communicates with his instrument. When he’s holding a guitar, he looks unstoppable You can tell he’s enjoying himself, Megumi smiles at his bandmates, plays guitar as simple as breathing and backs up Maki on some lyrics. They’re doing great, Megumi is doing soooo well. The colour of his eyes changes depending on the light hitting his face, sometimes green, sometimes blue and always gorgeous and passionate.
The rest of the world evaporates like it always does when he’s watching him play. Megumi’s not on the centre of the stage but the pink-haired man is only able to look at him.
He’s a rock star and Yuuji is his number one fan.
“You’re staring so hard you’re gonna set him on fire,” Nobara mutters behind him. He doesn’t dare respond, to scared to let a whimper leave his throat instead of an actual answer.
The crowd is carried away by IHMD’s presence, singing and dancing along. The band is still playing safe, they don’t only count on the two original songs of theirs to entertain the crowd but also popular rock songs.
The last song is a rock cover of G.U.Y. by Lady Gaga. Megumi plays with the strings of his guitar with precision and control, skilled as always. Choso soon joins him with his drums. Then, Maki starts singing. Nobara screams the lyrics with them, Toge and Inumaki claps their hands, shyly enjoying the rhythm.
Then, the bridge comes and Yuuji’s heart stops beating. Megumi joins Maki and sings with her. His voice scratches and melts, hitting all the right place in Yuuji’s brain. Megumi is truly made for this. His face glossy with sweat, his black tank top sticks to his skin and Yuuji is disappointed his top isn’t clearer, he could see his skin better then.
♫ I just want it to be hot because I’m best when I’m love ♫
Yuuji died, and this is heaven because while saying the next lyrics, Megumi looks at him straight in the eyes.
♫ and I’m in love with you ♫
The last song ends. Applause detonates. Yuuji claps, too loud, too late, heart still trying to outrun him.
As soon as the lights switch on, Yuuji is running to the backstage. He walks past Panda without acknowledging him, to focus on his best friend to think about politeness.
He arrives, panting and cheeks red. Megumi emerges from behind the curtains, hair damp, trembling just a little from adrenaline.
Hothothothot. He’s so fucking hot. Yuuji chokes on air, dying a little more by every second he passes watching Megumi drink a whole bottle of water. He looks up at him.
“Hey Yuuji.”
“Hi Megumi.” Yuuji blinks, one, two, three times before blurting. “You’re so good. I mean, you were super good. Like stupid good. It was…”
“Good ?”
“Yes.” Yuuji laughs, shaking his head. “What I want to say is that… I’m like, so proud of you Meg. You’ve worked so hard for this, and when you were on stage, I just thought…”
‘…How I love this guy.’
He couldn’t say it like that. He sighs, looking for the right words.
“I thought : ‘Wow, that’s my friend. We’re all looking at my best friend’.”
Megumi’s face twitches, he looks confused.
“Friend.” The guitarist repeats.
Yuuji opens his mouth again. “I mean, yeah. We are. Aren’t we ? Friends. That what we’re—”
“Yuuji stop.” Megumi walks toward him. “When are you going to stop ?” He sounds like desperation and it’s Yuuji’s turn to be confused.
Like, cruelly confused.
“Stop, what ?”
When Megumi’s gloved hand grabs Yuuji’s shirt, the latter lets him. They stare at each other for a long, long time. Enough for the background noise to disappear, enough for Yuuji to feel his stomach doing backflips. They move toward each other, drawn together like magnets and suddenly, their nose touch. Megumi doesn’t break eye contact. His gemstones are challenging Yuuji, pleading him to understand.
Yuuji chokes on his own saliva. His heart is pounding, threatening to jump out of his chest. He can feel his brain turn into mush, filled with only MegumiMegumiMegumi. His arms, his fingers, his mouth, his hair. Himhimhim absolutely everywhere. He begins to shake his head, he tries to back up but physically can’t.
“Do you feel it too ?” The guitarist whispers, his hand holding Yuuji’s jacket like a lifeline. “I’m right here. Don’t look away from me.”
Yuuji shakes his head. “I won’t.”
“Now, tell me if you don’t want this. Tell me and we can pretend this never happened.”
“I want this, Meg. I need this so fucki—”
Megumi closes the distance. Their lips connect three seconds before Megumi parts to make sure everything was ok. Yuuji nobs, grabs his face and returns the kiss. It’s soft at first, then it becomes deeper and slower and hungrier. It’s full of tongue, full of spit and it’s just like Yuuji remembered. Except it’s a thousand times better. He already knew how good Megumi’s lips feel against his and now he’s sure he could never get enough of it.
His other hand, the one that isn’t gripping the back of Megumi’s neck, trails down and meets his waist. He grabs it hard, to make sure all of this is real. Yuuji feels Megumi everywhere, on his torso, in his mouth, in his hair…
It’s too much, it’s not enough. It’s everything, everywhere, all at once. It’s, it’s…
Megumi lets out a breathy moan and Yuuji might just lose his goddamn mind. He wants to hear more of it, so he greedily licks the other’s lower lip then bites it. Megumi’s hands are fisting the hair of his undercut.
“I remembered you had a thing for my mouth…” Megumi’s breath is hot against his lips. Yuuji only chuckles.
“I remember everything about that damn kiss Meg.” Yuuji’s nose is touching Megumi’s cheek, he inhales sharply, his mouth kisses his jaw softly. The darked-haired man sighs, arms resting on Yuuji’s shoulders.
“Me too. These last few days I couldn’t stop thinking about it, you drove me insane for so many years.” Megumi whispers, almost to himself. Yuuji turns his head to look at Megumi in the eyes, they smile at each other.
“You have me now. You’ve always had me.”
Then they kiss again. More passionate this time. The pent-up feelings they build during all these years are finally releasing, Yuuji grows more and more aroused as his lips leave Megumi’s to explore his exposed skin. He kisses his cheeks, his jaw, the column of his neck —lingers there— before going back to that pretty mouth of his.
When they part after what felt like eternity, they just stare at each other for three seconds before nodding like idiots. Megumi takes Yuuji’s hand and guides him to the artist exit.
They leave the party without telling anyone. Even while driving, Yuuji can’t keep his hands to himself. His fingers squeeze Megumi’s thigh with a possessiveness that drives the other a little feral.
They don’t even wait for the car to be fully parked. They jump on each other the second the engine dies. Their kisses are impatient and hungry, teeth clicking, lips bitten, urgent and intoxicating.
“Meg, Meg, wait…” Yuuji pants in between kisses. “Wait. I want you in our apartment.”
Breathless, Megumi looks at him. His hands are cupping Yuuji’s face, his thumbs caress his cheeks before he leans again and kisses him slower, deeper. Yuuji melts immediately.
Megumi moves without separating from him, leans across the console to put his impossibly long legs over Yuuji’s thighs, straddling him. He grinds down and Yuuji moans into his mouth.
It’s the sexiest thing Megumi has ever done. Or at least, one of the many sexy things he does.
“You like taking the lead Meg ?”
He parts but do not let a single inch separate them. He speaks against the other’s mouth.
“Only if you let me.”
“I let you do anything to me baby.” Now Yuuji’s voice is just a low growl, clouded with lust and desire. The unexpected pet name makes Megumi sighs heavily. Yuuji’s hands are wandering from Megumi’s back to his ass before groping it, earning another small whimper from his best friend. Yuuji wants to hear this sound forever.
For a second, they forget where they are.
Then, Megumi’s elbow hits the horn. It echoes throughout the street, and they freeze.
They come back to reality.
“Fuck…” Megumi laughs, breathless.
“Let’s get out of here.” Yuuji says softly, forehead resting against Megumi’s.
They tumble out of the car, Megumi almost falls over but Yuuji won’t let him. Another excuse to touch his back. Once outside, Yuuji pins Megumi against the car door, stealing another kiss, quick and heated, and another, and another. He needs more. The walk to the building is a test of self-control and neither of them is passing particularly well. They physically cannot separate.
In the elevator lobby, Yuuji feels the urge to back Megumi into the wall between the mailboxes, mouth finding his again. Yuuji’s hand trails down to meet the back of his thigh, he hikes his thigh up over his hip then he pulls Megumi against him. The heat between their legs meet and Megumi can’t help the groan that leaves his mouth as he’s pressed against Yuuji, melting into him. Their body fit too well, too perfectly.
It all feels so natural. Yuuji doesn’t overthink it, he just goes for it and it works. It’s like he already knows how to please Megumi, just like he knows everything else about him. They’re made for each other, Yuuji can feel it in the way their mouths move together, in a single rhythm, a single harmony.
The concierge clears her throat.
They break apart like teenagers caught sneaking at night. Megumi straightens immediately, face composed, hands firmly at his sides. And Yuuji does his best and we can thank him for that. They both look like a happy mess, Yuuji smiles too bright, Megumi’s hair is a little wrecked and their lips so obviously kissed-red.
“Good evening.” She says, eyes flicking between them.
“Good evening, Tengen-san.” Megumi replies, voice shaking a bit.
Yuuji bows. “Hi, Tengen-san. Sorry.”
“No problem. Just maybe, do it in your apartment ?”
“Of course. We… we were just…” Megumi gives up on explaining because it seems he lost all his composure. “We’re leaving. Good night.”
“Good night you two.” She leaves without another word.
They make it to the elevator in silence. The second they’re alone, Yuuji laughs, Megumi is quick to follow, he hides in Yuuji’s neck.
“So embarrassing…”
“Come on, this was fun !” Yuuji takes his face in both hands and kisses Megumi again, quick and delighted. They do not get carried away this time (applause, please) and they wait until they’re in the safety of their shared apartment.
In the safety of their home.
Once inside, they stare at each other. Megumi’s hands are on Yuuji’s torso and the latter grips the shirt of his best friend. They kiss again, and it is slow. Their breaths mingle and it tastes like longing, yearning and relief.
They take their time, because they know they have it now. The time to explore each other, to love and to be loved. Without parting even for a second, they walk toward Megumi’s room. Against his lips, Yuuji asks why and Megumi’s answer makes him smile :
“I don’t want Jennifer Lawrence to look at us.”
“You don’t want my wife to find out ?” Yuuji grins, forehead against his. “That’s nasty, Meg.”
Megumi rolls his eyes exaggeratedly. “Quit being stupid.”
“You love it.” Yuuji smiles before kissing him quickly.
“Maybe.” Is all Megumi saying before opening the door of his room.
They enter inside with the attend of not leaving anytime soon because they have too many years to make up for. Yuuji is quickly pinned against the door, Megumi’s hands navigate on his large chest and explore under his tank top.
“Is this okay ?” Megumi asks.
“Yes. More than okay Meg.”
The latter pinches his right nipple and Yuuji squirms against him, he feels himself growing hard. He searches for his best friend’s mouth, finds it and kisses him passionately. His mouth travels down his cheeks to meet his collarbone and he just keeps going, until he’s on his knees in front of Megumi. The raven-haired man looks at him, bewildered.
“What are you doing ?”
Megumi looks beautiful. The moonlight surrounds his silhouette, giving him the appearance of a god who has come down from heavens. Yuuji wants nothing more than worship him and to be dedicate to him for the rest of his life.
“Megumi,” Yuuji starts solemnly. “If I'm not eating you out by thirty seconds I might cry. Can I do that ?”
The dark-haired moans at the words and rests one of his legs on Yuuji’s shoulder. He pushes his leg and now Yuuji noses his navel, right where his tattoo starts and mostly, making him smell how much he’s aroused.
“You can’t just say that to me.”
“Then tell me what to say.”
Yuuji looks up at him with his big, pleading honey-brown eyes. Megumi's breath hitches. His heart is beating frighteningly fast. He's soaked from their few heated kisses and he doesn’t even want to feel embarrassed about it. He needs Yuuji, more than anything. He wants to cry, to scream, to choke Yuuji between his thighs and then tells him how much he loves him, how much he cares for him. His body is all dizzy and wanting.
“Take me to the bed first.”
He releases him, Yuuji is quick to obliges. He carries his roommate to the double bed and places him on the mattress with all the gentleness in the world. They kiss again before Yuuji’s hand trails down to grip his thigh.
“Um, Yuuji ?” Megumi begins before chewing his rosy lips. His hands are resting on Yuuji’s shoulders, keeping him at a reasonable distance. “I have a hard time coming, I don’t know why and... I mean, it can be really long, and annoying, and frustrating so that’s ok if I don’t.”
That tone. The tone Fushiguro used when he soothed Yuuji’s panic attacks. Gentle, reassuring and this time, a little bit shy too, as if he was embarrassed not being able to finish. Yuuji leans towards him, kiss his right cheek, then his left one, before kissing his best friend’s entire face. Soft pecks against that pale and smooth skin. Megumi seems to relax at that, Yuuji straightens to stare at his jade irises.
“You just need time. I don’t see any problem with that.” Yuuji offers him a cocky smile, his eyes shining with challenge. One of his hands rest on Megumi’s cheeks, the other one is now thumbing his clothed waist. “We have all weekend to ourselves baby.” A whisper, eager and hungry. Yuuji licks his lips before diving into Megumi’s neck, leaving bites and open-mouthed kisses along his neck, down to his collarbones. The raven-haired man moans softly, suddenly lost in the warmth of the man beneath him.
Yuuji mouths the soft fabric of Megumi’s tank top down to his navel, then he stops :
“Can I take that off ?”
“Yes please. And you take yours off too…”
Megumi orders, and Yuuji’s happy to oblige. He stands up and gets off the bed to undress. He takes his shirt off first, quickly followed by his belts and pants, leaving himself almost bare in front of Megumi.
To be honest, it’s nothing Megumi haven’t seen before. Or at least, Yuuji’s body hasn’t change much since the last time he walked around their apartment with only a towel hanging low on his hips. Tonight however, the view turns him on more than anytime before : his tanned skin, his defined pecs and erect nipples, that fucking happy trail that he decided to dye pink just like his hair and, of course, the huge bulge inside of his boxers. Megumi presses his thighs together, searching for friction while he looks at his best friend.
“Come here Yuuji.” He whispers, voice sultry and eyes lost in the sight before him.
Like a knight loyal to his king, Yuuji listens to Megumi and goes on top of him. He kisses him again with eagerness before sliding his hands down his waist to take off his tank top. Soon enough, Megumi is shirtless in front of him and Yuuji can’t help his chocolate brown eyes to take a good look at him.
Yuuji only saw Megumi’s scars once. The day they were completely healed. Megumi was so proud of his chest he could’ve gone to campus shirtless. Unfortunately, it was the weekend and he was still a person with a little public decency. Still, he wanted to show his torso to everyone. Yuuji was the first who saw it. One morning, he heard Megumi screaming in his bedroom, got scared to only find the raven-haired man jumping out of joy at the sight of his healed scars. One of the many cherished memories Yuuji has with his roommate. His smile was big, bright, so unlike the usual Megumi. Yuuji often thinks of this particular smile, all teeth and proud, and he can only accept that at that moment, he was already in love with Megumi, just not aware of it yet.
And right now, Megumi’s torso is gorgeous, so Yuuji immediately puts his mouth on it. He gently leaves a trail of kisses from Megumi’s collarbone to his navel, his hands wander and he takes the muscles of his chest between his fingers. When he’s welcomed with deep and soft sighs, it only encourages him to do more. His mouth goes north to suck on his pink nipples and to kiss his scars softly while his expert hands travel down to undo the button of his jeans.
“Still ok there ?” Yuuji asks, eyes flickering up to look at Megumi’s face.
“Perfect, don’t worry,” he assures him, nodding and face-red with want. He’s never looked so beautiful. “Please take those pants off of me…”
Yuuji —not in his wettest dreams— could’ve ever imagined Megumi sounding like this. So needy yet so commanding and hot. He smiles, happy with the answer and his hands hook the fabric of the jeans to pull it down, along with Megumi’s boxers. Cold air hits the heat between his legs and Yuuji feels him shiver under his palms. He soothes him before parting his thighs slightly more, to settle more comfortably between them. Megumi’s knees are now resting on Yuuji’s shoulders, legs crossing behind his neck.
“You’re so hot Megumi.” Yuuji says, his breath fans over Megumi’s cock, making the other’s breath hitch. Yuuji runs his tongue over the curves of his friend’s tattoo on his left leg ; a representation of the myth of the Genese in Japanese mythology : eight kami, curvy lines and kanjis — an experimental and harmonious permanent art — that goes from his hip bone to his knee.
“I want to be so good for you baby.” Yuuji mutters, mouth busy leaving love bites on his skin.
“You will if you hurry up and eat me out right now.” Megumi answers, impatient. He takes Yuuji’s pink curls in his hand and guides him to his wet heat.
He teases a lot at first. Leaving soft pecks on his lips, kissing it slowly and deeply, pulling his folds with his mouth, taking deep breaths to get high on the musky smell. He wants to burn every little detail on his memory forever. He wants to remember his first time with Megumi all his life. Megumi whines at the teasing, and Yuuji decides it’s time to be more focused. So, he doesn’t waste more time.
Suddenly, Yuuji eats and eats and eats. Greedy, hungry. He devours, licks. He licks so much. His face is already covered in Megumi’s fluids and Yuuji is pretty sure he could come from the smell alone. He supports Megumi’s trembling thigh with one hand, the other separating his folds, allowing his tongue to explore more of his insides. Megumi grips Yuuji’s hair for dear life, suffocating him between his legs and pants against his partner’s tongue. Yuuji could have died right here and he would’ve died a happy man.
Megumi tastes human. Like skin, flesh and bones. Like sweat, sex and love. He’s sweet, savoury, everything. Megumi is everything. His confident. His best friend. The love of his life. And right now, he’s the best meal Yuuji ever ate.
His tongue is everywhere on Megumi’s bottom lips, exploring his folds, sometimes exploring the entry of his hole before darting to suck his erect and sensitive cock. He hollows his cheeks from time to time, before licking the tip. Yuuji’s everywhere, on his skin and under it, leaving bruises and kisses on every each of skin he can reach. It’s too much for Megumi to handle. He moans, and curses and pulls Yuuji’s hair, unsure if he wanted him to push him away or make him stay there forever.
Yuuji moans against the wet heat between Megumi’s legs and slowly parts away, not without leaving a last sloppy kiss on it.
“Meg, Meg, Meg…” He repeats. A mantra. A prayer. “Uh, Meg, please…”
Panting but still curious, Megumi finds the strength to sis up on his elbows, looking down at the man in front of him.
“What do you want Yuuji ?” Honey melting into Yuuji’s ears. His cock twitches, suffocating in his underwear.
“I… Meg, please.” The pink-haired man mouths Megumi’s thigh, savouring the delicious taste of his sweat. He whimpers against his pale skin. “Baby, oh please…”
“Use your worlds.” Megumi’s hand reaches up to cup Yuuji’s jaw, making him looking up at him. His brown eyes are wet, pleading. “I’m listening. Tell me what you want baby boy.”
Yuuji whines, he humps slowly against the mattress. He’s about to cum in his pants, he can feel it. He’s delirious, drunk on the taste of his best friend. Megumi has no right to be that hot. He whimpers his answer :
“Sit on my face, pleasepleaseplease. Megumi, please, I need you.” His lips trembles. “I just wanna make you feel good baby.”
“Fuck. Of course, yes.” Megumi leans to kiss him and tastes himself on the other’s lips. “I want to ride your pretty face Yuuji.”
Yuuji openly whimpers and Megumi might just eat him alive. They set up, Megumi is soon straddling Yuuji’s face. The latter smiles at him, eyes sparkling in the moonlight.
His mouth gets in touch with Megumi’s cock, he squeals at the contact, still sensitive. He resumes eating greedily, still hungry for more of Megumi.
Himhimhim. Only him.
Yuuji’s full on crying now. He kisses sloppily that perfect piece of flesh, sobbing against it with the desperation of a mad man. He feels his friend’s hands on him, roughly gripping his hair. He hears Megumi’s cries and praises :
‘You’re doing so well Yuuji.’
‘Keep going. Yeah, don’t stop.’
He drinks him up like Megumi is an Oasis, the only thing that keeps him alive in a waterless desert. He physically cannot let go of Megumi’s thighs, always gripping harder to press his perfect cock against his nose and feel how wet his lover is for him. His eyes roll back, his cock twitches again and he feels close, so close to releasing months, fuck, even years of frustrated desire for his best friend. For the man of his life, Megumi.
Against one side of his head, he can feel the roll of Megumi’s hips becoming less and less regular. He breathes hard, fast, loud.
“Yuu, baby… I’m… I think I’m gonna…”
Yuuji doesn’t flatter his pace, keeps it nice and steady for Megumi. He follows those beautiful sounds of his and it guides him. He works to lead his lover to the gates of heaven.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck !”
Megumi’s orgasm hits and it’s a surprise for both of them. In a second, Yuuji is covered in Megumi’s fluids, drinking him, riding his orgasm until Megumi becomes a boneless body, unable to support his own weight.
Yuuji’s mouth leaves Megumi’s cock to allowed himself some fresh air. He inhales and exhales so loud, on the same cloud as his lover, even if his cock is still hard against his abs. The dark-haired man releases him, he lies down on his back next to him, thighs trembling, breath ragged.
“Shit… That was…” Megumi begins, voice full of bliss. “You are…”
Yuuji looks wrecked in the best way possible. His hair is all messy, the lower part of his face his covered in Megumi’s sticky fluids and he’s red, like, redredred.
He breathes loudly too, completely hypnotised by Megumi’s naked form next to him. Yuuji props himself up on one elbow and looks down at him. The moon shines and softens the features of his face. Megumi looks happy, so happy and Yuuji’s heart jumps at the idea that it’s thanks to him, Yuuji makes Megumi happy.
His pink nipples, the muscles of his arms, his abs. The light shaking of his body, the fresh love bites, the bruises of his fingers on his thighs… The shiny between his legs, the softness of his skin. Yuuji leans in and kisses all of that, taking his time to worship the love of his life. His mouth travels down his abdomen once again, it feels like he’s everywhere on Megumi’s skin.
“Ugh, get off of me.” Megumi whines after a laugh. Yuuji immediately stops his kisses and looks at him.
“Too much ?”
“No, I mean… Just wait for a second, please.” Megumi asks, still trying to breath normally. “I’m like, extra sensitive.”
“Ok !”
Yuuji smiles at him and lays down next to him so they can face each other. After a few minutes of silence, Megumi places his right hand on his roommate’s neck, pulling him for a sweet kiss.
“Let me take care of you ?” The darked-haired man demands, looking at Yuuji’s caramel-coloured eyes. His hand trails down his defined abs and settles on his hip.
“Please…” Yuuji sighs and nods in between kisses.
Megumi’s skilled fingers wrap around his friend’s shaft. The pink-haired man lets out a sigh of relief, he’s finally getting touched. It takes everything in him not to cum in this instant. The hand slides easily thanks to all the pre gathered on his cockhead, angry red and puffy from arousal.
As much as he wants to last long, Megumi’s fingers are skilled. Long and calloused from hours of playing guitar. Perfect, just like he imagined. They’re playing with his balls, Megumi uses his palm to rub the head and doesn’t stop until Yuuji’s a crying and whispering mess.
“You’re doing so well for me Yuuji.” He whispers, kissed his tears away.
“I’m almost there.” Yuuji manages to respond. He drops his head on Megumi shoulder. “Can I ? Please can I cum ?”
Megumi looks at him with fondness before kissing him, without faltering the wet back and forth of his hand.
“You can. Cum for me baby.”
It’s all it takes. A high whine escapes Yuuji’s throat as he finishes on Megumi’s fingers. Another moan leaves his mouth when the dark-haired man brings his hand up and sucks his own fingers. Yuuji stares at him with awe before leaning to kiss him.
On their mouth, they can taste themselves and the other, all at once and the feeling is insane.
They part and Yuuji tells his roommate he’s going to clean them. He goes to the bathroom, wets a towel and quickly comes back to clean Megumi’s thighs, his fingers and his face. He does the same for him and throws the towel on the floor. Laundry will be a problem for future Yuuji.
The pink-haired man looks at his best friend and brings him into a hug. Skin on skin, warm and welcoming. Megumi seems to melt instantly, already falling asleep on his friend’s torso.
"How are you feeling ?" Yuuji asks, caressing his friend's dark hair, slowly detangling them with his fingers.
"Amazing. You ?" Megumi whispers, eyes closed and voice low.
"Perfect." He answers simply. Yuuji can’t help his smile. He feels euphoric, a little crazy but like, good crazy.
𖦹
Yuuji opens his eyes slowly. The sun’s picking through the window, warm and welcoming. The pink-haired man takes a deep breath, the strong smell of sex and sweat makes him realise what happened the night before.
He’s slept with Megumi. His best friend. His crush for God-knows how long.
And it was fucking amazing.
He sighs contently and reaches out to pick up his phone, careful of not waking up his sleeping partner. Still a little sleepy, he looks at his screen and opens his eyes wide when he sees how many messages Nobara left him.

“Who you’re texting ?” Megumi asks, voice sleepy and muffled on the pillow.
“’Bara. We forgot to say we were leaving.”
“Hm, too bad. Now leave your phone and stay with me,” Megumi mutters, running a hand through Yuuji’s naked torso before pulling him closer to him, caressing his face against his shoulder. Yuuji does as told and hugs his roommate back.
“I am with you.” He says simply.
Megumi lifts his head, eyes closed and brows furrowed. Yuuji can’t help but think he looks like a grumpy cat.
“Are you really ?”
“I am. Always had.”
Megumi smiles at him, eyes closed, a small smile on his lips. “Let’s sleep a little more, I feel like Jello.”
Yuuji takes a deep breath, humming his sweet perfume and hums against his hair. “I know baby.”
Some hours later, Megumi takes a bite of Yuuji’s famous scrambled eggs. He hums in contentment, still a bit asleep.
“This is so good.”
“Thank you.” Yuuji sings, his eyes full of adoration. Megumi looks up at him and arches an eyebrow.
“Who are you looking at ?” He teases.
“You.” Yuuji says like it the most obvious thing in the word. “You’re so beautiful Meg.”
“Sappy.” Megumi says, trying to look unphased but can’t help the smile forming on his lips.
“You love it.”
“I do, actually.” He sips his warm coffee. “You’re beautiful too, Yuuji.”
Yuuji’s heart inflates, he blushes and turns his gaze away, suddenly shy. He still can’t believe it. Then, Megumi kisses him again, the taste of coffee meets Yuuji’s tongue and everything is confirmed.
Everything is real.
And it feels so natural, like they’re made for each other, like it’s their destiny to be together, always. Megumi and Yuuji, Yuuji and Megumi against all odds.
Yuuji smile again and he’s pretty sure his lips are going to stay curled up as long as he looks at Megumi.
“You won’t leave my side ?”
“Never.” Yuuji brings him close, forehead to forehead. “You’ve had me for so long, longer than you could ever imagine.”
Megumi’s cheeks and ears turn pink. He grabs his tanned cheek in his hand.
“You’re my boyfriend then ?”
Yuuji smiles, all toothy and glorious, then nods. “I’m your boyfriend.”
“Mine.” Megumi whispers, leaning so their noses can touch.
“Yours.” Yuuji murmurs back, gripping the back of his neck to kiss him tenderly.
And just like that, spring becomes Itadori Yuuji’s favourite season again.
