Chapter Text
May those who accept their fate be granted happiness.
May those who defy their fate be granted glory.
In the beginning was tale. An unfinished tale, of hope and regret, time lost and anger misplaced. Of a scared, tired bunny, and the lake it called home. Of a beautiful princess with a well-hidden secret, and the knight who had slain a thousand and one dragons for her sake. Of magic most foul, and a witch filled with hatred.
This is the story of how this despicable witch, enraged at being trapped in an unfinished tale, escaped from the book she inhabited and took home in a pendant and a little boy’s nightmares.
This is the story of a swan, a lake, a bunny, a witch, a thespian, a dreamer, and a painter turned knight, and how she exchanged her paintbrush for a sword, spurred by her desperation and devotion.
This is a story about love in all its forms. Love as the caring friendship between two mothers and their infinite adoration for their children. Love as the cold control of another mother for her daughter, mistaken for warm affection by both. Love as the unbreakable bond between four girls, and the twisted obsession of a wicked witch. Love as the passion of a thespian for his companion, the yearning of a bunny for a lonely lake, and the quiet ache for the lake to be needed. But above all, this is a story of the desperate, unfathomable love between a princess and her knight, a love so powerful and so pure it can unravel the very fabric of reality and defy fate itself.
Ultimately, this is the story of how the brave knight ended the witch’s tale once and for all.
