The pressure relief valve opened just a smidge, but I have feeling that that was a temporary reprieve from the angst and the hurt. I love the angst and the hurt.
A kind of trauma that I don't think gets talked about enough is abusive workplaces. The targeted harassment of Shane, and the team collectively shaping a culture that encourages it, the isolation tactics—there is a particular kind of interpersonal violence that involves being treated with complete disregard. They didn't care if hurting Shane would make him perform worse which is why all of Shane's efforts to try harder to fix things were doomed to fail. They wanted him out as soon as he was out.
