Goodbye, Hiyori.
Hiyori woke up gasping for breath, the sound of the alarm clock cutting harshly through the silence inside her apartment.
Disoriented, she twisted her head to look at the clock. The red numbers blinked back at her, urging her to get up.
Instead, Hiyori let out a groan, pulling the covers over her head. Squeezing her eyes shut in concentration, she curled up trying to desperately hold onto the last wisps of her dream.
The alarm went silent, automatically switching to snooze mode.
She laid there for a moment before pulling back her covers. The sunlight streamed through the half-open window blinds, throwing bright patterns onto the plush rug beside her bed.
What was I dreaming about?
She rubbed at her eyes in frustration. Ever since that accident ten years ago, she had this recurring dream - a dream that she could never remember after waking up - a dream that only left her with a great sense of loss.
And longing.
She let out a sigh.
No use dwelling on it now.
Getting up, she let out a sharp laugh, mouth immediately twisting into a frown.
"Who am I trying to kid?"
She shut off her alarm before it could go off again.
