Summary

Led by Director Shinoda and spearheaded by the finest agents in Border, the expedition is armed with Meeden's finest technology—only to discover upon arrival that they are woefully underprepared for the reality of the Neighbourhood Stranded with obsolete charts that don't show the half of the Neighbourhood complexity and size, the "elite" squad finds their only hope for survival in Yuma Kuga, a cold, white-haired mercenary who navigates the planet nations with a lethality they’ve never witnessed. Yuma is a veteran of a thousand wars and a target of the very nation Border is trying to find, but he has zero interest in being a hero. Trapped together in their shared dislike of Aftokrator, a bitter deadlock is formed: will Yuma guide the stranded agents through the shifting paths of the Neighborhood in exchange for sanctuary. As Afto hunts for what they believe to be theirs, Yuma silently reads the fear behind the agents’ professional masks. Border owns the ship, but they are entirely dependent on a boy who doesn't care if they live or die.
