Summary
When Shane thought back on his life, he could not identify a serious misstep. Nothing should be wrong with him. He'd done everything exactly how he was supposed to.

“No.” Shane extricated himself from Rozanov and turned to face him. “I’m serious. I’m going to fight back. I want you to hold me down and make me.”
Rozanov’s face closed off. The spark of affection in his expression died out. “I don’t like to do that,” he said, slowly. “Why you want me to do that?”
Blood was rushing in Shane’s ears. “I need it,” Shane said. “I just—I need it, Roz, I’ve had—I’ve had the worst fucking day.”
Rozanov softened by a fraction. “I make you feel better,” Rozanov said, coming towards him. “Just ask me what you want.”
Shane realized Rozanov must think something awful had happened, which made him feel worse. Nothing awful had happened. Nothing even particularly out of the ordinary had happened. Why did he feel like this? Why couldn’t he control himself?
“I don’t want to,” Shane said through his teeth. “If you can’t do it I’ll just go.”
Rozanov’s jaw clenched and then relaxed. “I can. But I.” He stopped. His eyes searched Shane’s face and did not, apparently, find what they were looking for. “I like when you like it,” he said finally.
