Chapter 50:

Ron watched as Ginny scored another goal for the Holyhead Harpies.

His sister had been scouted right out of Hogwarts and was now their star chaser.

It’d been three years since graduation and he was still working as an Auror.

The work was tough but he kept at it, not just for him but his wife.

Hermione was the love of his life and they’d married last year.

They were holding off on children for now as both wanted to focus on their careers.

But they both wanted to start a family one day, something he knew his other friends wanted to do as well.

Harry had yet to propose to Ginny but Ron knew it was going to happen someday soon, since his best friend had already purchased a ring.

Meanwhile Adora and Catra were still working through the Legal paper work to allow them to marry.

He gave them a sad look as they cheered another goal being scored by Ginny.

“Knut for your thoughts?” Hermione asked.

“Just sucks those two still can’t get married” he explained.

“I know I’ve been trying to help out by bringing up Coalition Laws but it’s still taking time” she admitted.

Hermione had worked miracles in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, serving directly under Andi.

Ron figured she might even end up as Minister for Magic one day.

“Well death didn’t stop them being together, so the Law will give in eventually” he smirked.

Hermione gave him a soft look and pulled him in for a hug.

Ron kissed her head and returned to watching the match.

Harry started pacing as Ginny was taken in to the delivery ward.

“Merlin you really are you’re fathers’ son” Mom joked.

He realised what he was doing and sat down next to her.

“Sorry I’m just nervous” he admitted.

“Silly Harry” Lyra giggled from Mom’s lap.

“Oh am I now you little tyke” he smiled and poked her cheeks.

“Mom make him stop” she whined.

Harry relented and gave his sister some peace, he was glad to have her and Mom here for this as Dad was busy babysitting for the Lupins.

“How are things at work?” Mom asked

“Going great, Kingsley is considering naming me his successor” he admitted.

“That’s amazing and what about the others?”

“Ron’s doing alright helping out George at the shop and Hermione is up for promotion. Adora and Catra still both love being teachers” he listed.

Harry knew Mum was already aware of all of these facts, but was grateful for the distraction.

Then before he knew it the baby had arrived and Harry dashed inside.

Ginny gave him a relived smirk and held up his son.

He gently took him and cried just like he had when Lyra was born.

“He’s perfect, have you thought of a name?” he checked.

“Yes…James” she replied.

Harry was stunned by her choice and leaned down to kiss her in response.

“I love it, hello James I’m you Dad” he beamed.

Mom and Lyra then came in to fuss over James, as he checked in with Ginny.

His wife was exhausted but content and couldn’t wait to come home.

Harry gave her another kiss and basked in the joy of being a father.

Adora looked in the mirror at her wedding dress.

She could not believe the day had finally come, but after years of struggle Gay Marriage had been legalised.

Catra had proposed on her eighteenth birthday, but only now could they become each other’s wife.

Hermione helped her with her hair, as she’d obviously picked her best friend to be her Maid of Honour.

Catra had made Ron her best man, being her oldest male friend.

“There all done” Hermione announced.

“So this is it then” she smiled.

“Yes, ready to be Mrs Tonks?” Hermione teased.

“Since I first saw Catra 22 years ago” she confirmed.

They headed to the church in horse-drawn carriage and she stepped out to stand with her Dad.

He was already crying and she struggled to hold back her own tears of joy.

As the bridesmaids and groomsman walked in she took his hand.

“Thanks for this Dad”

“My perfect girl, you deserve your perfect day” he replied.

The organ started up and she walked down the aisle.

On both sides Adora saw her friends and family, dressed to appear as muggle as possible.

Her eyes were drawn to Catra who was wearing an immaculate suit, with a glamour covering her ears.

Adora would’ve preferred them out, but their wedding was public so there was nothing to be done.

Her heart thundered in her chest as Dad gave her away.

“Hey Adora” Catra said lovingly.

“Hey Catra” Adora replied equally tenderly.

The Reverent then began the ceremony and soon it was time for their vows.

“I Adora take you Catra to be my lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward and all days after. Even death won’t do us part”

“I Catra take you Adora to be my lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward and all days after. Even death won’t do us part”

As soon as the words “I do” passed their lips, they were slammed together.

Adora never wanted to stop kissing her wife but her lungs demanded air.

They broke apart and rushed out of the church to the reception.

This was thankfully a wizard only affair so all muggle pretences were dropped.

Adora stroked her wife’s ears and pulled her in for another kiss.

“Keep this up and we won’t need a honeymoon” Catra teased.

“Very funny Mrs Tonks, I though you wanted to visit America” she returned.

“I very much do Mrs Tonks, it’s been to long since we’ve seen Lunet and Hillary”

The two giggled as they took their seats at the head table.

Soon it was time for the speeches and she wondered what would be said.

Harry was first, “When I learnt I was a wizard I felt as if my life finally had meaning. But I was entering a world I knew little about. Catra was my first wizarding friend and without her I wouldn’t be the man I am today”

Adora saw Catra tear up at that and she held her hand.

“Adora meanwhile is the most loving person I’ve ever met and deserves to spend it with the woman of her dreams. To Catradora!” he smirked.

“To Catradora” the crowd toasted.

Hermione was next, “Adora is my best friend and she has always supported me. When she told me about her Cat, the one who she loved, I didn’t know what to think. So when we went to Hogwarts together and saw Catra I knew Adora had found her Soulmate. It’s been a long time but finally I can say congratulations to Mrs and Mrs Tonks”

“To Mrs and Mrs Tonks” everyone cheered as Adora pulled Hermione in for a hug.

Ron cleared his throat, “As best man I’m expected to share some funny stories or make some jokes about the couple. But considering one is strong enough to wrestle Hippogriffs and the other can outrun a broomstick I won’t be doing that”

That got a laugh out of everyone.

“There two are the most caring, loyal and loving people you could ever meet. Being their friend has been one of the best things to happen to me. Even if that means enduring Catra’s fish breath and listening to Adora’s detailed descriptions of their bedroom activities”

Catra cackled at that while Adora rolled her eyes.

“But they deserve their happy day and have fought for it like no one else. To Adora and Catra”

“To Adora and Catra” the room shouted.

After that they cut the cake and began their first dance.

Adora and Catra went through their Princess Prom routine as “Love like You” played.

As the song ended Adora lifted up her wife and pulled her in for another kiss.

Her Soulmate was now her wife and everything was perfect.

Hermione stood on Platform 9 ¾ as her daughter prepared to board the Hogwarts Express.

Rose was bouncing with excitement and was clearly very keen.

She really did take after her mother.

Nearby she spotted Harry saying goodbye to Severus while Draco saw off Scorpius.

Hermione turned back to Rose and pulled her in for a hug.

“Now you behave yourself and if you need any help go see Professor Tonks”

“Which Professor Tonks?” Rose teased.

“Like you’ll find one without the other” Ron laughed.

She gave her husband a shoulder slap as they waved goodbye to their daughter.

It was sad to see her go but Hermione knew she was going to have a wonderful time.

Her son Hugo would be leaving himself in a few years and was just as excited as his sister.

The other children all boarded and the parents waved them goodbye.

Once they were gone Ron took Hugo home while she returned to work.

As head of the Department for International Cooperation Hermione was a very busy woman.

But it was a position she may soon be giving up.

Minister of Magic elections were due and she’d put her name forward.

If Hermione got enough votes she would be the first Muggleborn witch to hold the title.

Not that she had much competition.

Still Hermione was diligent and continued to work and campaign effectively.

She sat at her desk and looked at the photo of all her friends.

It was taken when they graduated and it always inspired her.

Dressed in their old school robes and looking so young, she wondered if her past self would be proud of her.

She hoped so and continued to do everything possible to make the Magical world a better place.

Catra dismissed her Transfiguration Class and headed out of the castle.

She had piles of papers to grade but they could wait.

First she needed a kiss from her wife.

Walking through Hogwarts she watched over the various students running around.

She’d already seen her Brother-in-Law graduate and Adam was now training to be an Auror.

Teddy, Alistor, Victoria, Dominique and Louis had also been taught by her.

Lyra, James, Severus, Rose and Scorpius were part of her current students and she loved every one of them.

As head of Gryffindor House she made sure to keep a close eye on them all.

Walking out into the sun she made her way down to the Dark Forest.

She passed by Neville who had finished his Herbology Class and was no doubt off to see Hannah who had taken over Madam Pomrey’s position.

Catra soon saw the line of students finishing their Care of Magical Creatures class, which was the most popular elective by far.

Not that she could blame them as who wouldn’t want to spend time with Adora.

They all waved at her as she passed and seeing students from all four houses socialising together made her happy.

Then she spotted her wife who was putting the Abraxan back in their paddock.

They were gift from Madam Maxine and Hagrid as part of the friendship with Beauxbatons.

High Master Krum of Durmstrang had sent a dragon which was sleeping in a cave deeper into the woods.

Sokolmore wanted to send more but Parvati had talked him down.

The Patel twins had married their Durmstrang sweethearts in the end which pleased Catra.

No other Etherians had been found over the years, but she still held out hope that they’d be reborn here one day.

Catra looked over to Adora and the sight still took her breath away.

Standing 6 ½ feet tall with muscles clearly visible through her robes, her wife was stunning.

Her long blond hair tied up in a braid and a faint layer of sweat on her brow.

Catra just wanted to jump into her arms and kiss every part of her face.

She ran a hand through her own thick brown hair and waited for Adora to notice her.

It took a while as she was focused entirely on her charges.

But when she did her blue eyes sparkled just like the day they’d first met.

“Catra what are you doing here?” she beamed running over and pulling her into a hug.

Not wanting to miss the opportunity Catra pulled her in for a deep kiss.

“Hey Adora”

Her wife snorted, “How is it you saying that always make me happy”

“Maybe because you love me you dolt, anyway I’ve got good news” she smiled.

“What is it?” Adora wondered.

Catra took her wife’s hand and placed it on her stomach.

Adora blinked before realising what she was implying.

“You mean?” she carefully asked.

“The IVF worked, we’re gonna be Moms” Catra cried.

Adora scoped her up and ran back to Hogwarts as fast as she could.

They went straight to the Headmasters Office and asked Albus if they could use the Floo.

The old man agreed and gave Catra a knowing wink.

Within the hour everyone had been told the good news.

That night when the two women curled into bed together and both put their hands on Catra’s belly.

She was nervous and excited to carry the baby, but with her Soulmate by her side she was more than ready.

“I love you Catra” her wife softly whispered.

“I love you too Adora” she returned and pulled her into a kiss.

Their love had endured beyond all expectations.

And thanks to magic would continue to do so forevermore.

And that's all folks.

It's been a mad three weeks working on this and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it.

Until next time.
