Naomi Hamato was always a bit different from others
Even as a child, before she had even met another human, she knew this was mostly thanks to the shows she used to watch and the comics she used to read. No matter where she looks, she can never find someone like her.
Naomi was born with big red eyes that some might say looked like the devil. If that wasn't bad enough, she was born with red marks on her left arm that looked like cracks.
She always hated them. She was around 8 when she started to cover them up with some long t-shirts that she found.
Her brother never really understood why she never liked her eyes or marks they would always say how cool she looked, but she never really listened, which was one of the problems she had.
It was actually the main reason Nat didn't want to be the lead even after Splinter asked her. She knew Leo would make a better lead than she ever could and Splinter knew to
She honestly never really bonded with Splinter. Well, of course she still loved him but she was scared to get too close she only ever called Splinter Father a few time a lot of the time it was just senci so honestly, the fact there weren't as close as him and Leo was probably on her.
But she knew about the story of Tang Shang and Miwa, and she didn't want to replace her as she never wanted to hurt her father and she didn't really think Splinter saw her as a daughter. I mean, he never openly called her his daughter like he called the boy he's sons it was always just my child which would be fine if he didn't call April and Casey that too.
Splinter took her in only 3 months after he had lost Miwa and Tang Shang, and part of her thought Splinter wanted her to be like Tang Shang or Miwa, which she was kind of right.
There had been a number for time where Splinter would call Nat "miwa" or try to get her to like things his late wife loves even though it wasn't her thing she always felt like a huge disappointment
Everyone was in the lab one day the turtles, April, casey and ellie when Casey noticed Nat holding and looking at an old teddy bear. Casey and Nat never really got a long time to casey took this as his chance to be an ass
"Heyyy Nay, what's this?" Casey said, snagging the bear of her. " A teddy awww that's adorable" but it was more than just that to nat
It was one of the only things she had left of her mother, the turtles and Ellie knew, but April and Casey didn't
"No casy, will you please give it back?" Nat said as she tried to snag it back
"You know I would never think you of all people would have a teddy," Casey said, dangling the bear away from her
"Casey, give it back to her now," Raph said firmly, knowing how much it meant to his sister
"What is just some old bear? You're 16. Why do you still have a teddy?" Casey said, mocking Nat, which pissed everyone off
" Casey, for god's sake, give it back to her. It is not funny that things are important to her," Ellie yells, giving her big brother a death stare
"Oh my god, he is a toy. How important can it be?" Casey said as Nat finally snapped
"Will you just GIVE IT BACK?" Nat shouted louder, then she meant to snatch the bear back, her eyes glowing red, which she learned happened when she felt strong emotions like anger. Everyone was staring at her.
" S- sorry, it was just my mother's ok," Nat said, putting the bear down on the desk
"OK, what's wrong? You only ever look at the bear when you're stressed, " Leo said
There were silents for a minute
"Um, can I ask you guys something it's a little dumb," Nat said, now sitting on the floor
"Well, mikeys owe brothers, so I have probably heard dumber," Donnie said with a smile
"Hey," Mikey yells, making Nat Chuckle. i bit
"Well, um, do you think I'm good enough. Sometimes, it feels like Splinter only sees miwa ot tang shang in me not Naomi and I don't think I can be them" Nat quietly asked, fidgeting with a ring on her finger
"Nat of course you're good enough" Mikey said spinning around in donnie lad chair (Donnie could beat him later)
"Ye your great. What bought this on?" Raph asked looking a bit concerned
" I don't really know i mean I've lost count of the number of times he's called me Miwa. The only reason I'm even called Naiom is that my mother begged him change my name otherwise it probably would be miwa" Nat said one knee to her chest
" Nat you're perfect just the way you are you don't have to be Miwa or Tang Shang," he said putting Nat's hair behind her ear
" yeee Nat something tells be is not just about that it was marks agin isn't it" Leo said. Everyone gave him. A look
"Leo really not now" Raph said nudging him
"No no honestly leo right..... I thought finding out about my powers would help. Give in explaining why I have them but to be honest, I don't want them" Nat said rolling up her sleeve
" I mean ill take them if you don't want them" Mikey said earing him a slap from Donnie
"Mikey god sake read the room" he said
Before Nat could respond she felt a sharp pain in her arm "oh god no not again please" she thought as she quickly rolled down her sleeve
"Nat you ok" Aprl asked
"Umm ye I'm fine just forget I said anything" Nat said getting up and making a quick walk out of the lad before anyone could stop her
"Yee soo she's not fine" Casey said
"Well you weren't much help" he responds looking pissed
"How was I supposed to know the bear was nats moms" Casey said
"You weren't that's my whole point it was none of your business i know you two don't get along but she asked you to give it back" he said sharply

Meanwhile in the bathroom
Nat took off her jacket and stared at her reflection grabbing her arm in pain. She had been getting these burning-like pains for a few days and every time it was the same.
Pain in the left arm
Headache
Dizziness
She looked pale
And the worst thing
tremors
She never really felt sick which is what scared her the most. She didn't know what was happening to her but she knew it wasn't good.
She looked at her shaking hand praying that they would stop before patrol tomorrow night she need them to, where a weapon was a bow and arrow for crying out loud
Then she noticed something on her chest and neck she bought the neck of the t-shirt down a bit and saw in horror that there were more marks and there where getting closer to her face
"What the hell" she whispered
She was barely comfortable enough to where shot sleeves now the marks look like there where spreading.
"Shit shit no no no please" she whispers before hearing a knock
"Nat you in there" mikey voice called
"Ye ill be out now mike" Nat answer putting her jacket back on and opening the door
"You ok Nat" Mikey asked
"Ye ye in fine little brother ill just not feeling great ill just go to my room tell April, casey and Ellie I said bye will you" Nat said
"Umm ye ye sure" Mikey said as Nat walked away
He was a little worried but he knew his sister was strong she could handle whatever was going on with her
