    Summary

Robert made a point of being a no-power hero. At least when out on the job. For one thing, it was an inspiring story to normal, non-powered people. For another, his were dead useless in the field, when he was supposed to be in combat.

Someone had actually managed to catch Invisigal. Shit.
They had no clue where she was, who had her, they weren't on any camera the agency had access to.
Not that the agency had access to.
Oh this was going to suck.

It doesn't matter what powers you have, it only matters what you choose to do with them

    Summary:

Someone had actually managed to catch Invisigal. Shit.
They had no clue where she was, who had her, they weren't on any camera the agency had access to.
Not that the agency had access to.
Oh this was going to suck.
    -
    Three hours later, still nothing.
There was a hum in Robert's ears, in his bones, and his fingers were moving as fast as they could without using his powers.
He couldn't go down for the count now, not when they didn't have her location.
But their cameras, their system, had nothing, and it would take hours to scrub through all the footage at human speed, track where each car went, and figure out the likelihood of it being the people that took Invisigal.
    They didn't have that time.

Their cameras weren't enough. His mind wasn't working fast enough.

"Prism, you're with me, Coupe, Flambae, Golum, be ready to head out when I get the data." Robert said, getting up from his desk and grabbing the bag he had always brought with him.
    "Wait, what?"
    "The fuck you on about?"
    "Where you going?"
He ignored the questions and took off his headset before breaking out into a sprint towards Z-Team's wait room.
"Come on, I don't have a car, so we're taking one of the deploying units." He told Prism.

The wait to get to the damn kidnapping location felt like forever. Longer than the wait to hear back from Malevola was. Robert immediately set up shop, pulling out the laptop that he'd made from scratch, using every scrap of advanced tech that he could get his hands on.
He was patched back into the comms in seconds.
"If I start seizing, break the damn laptop." He told the three heroes.
"What the fuck does that-" and he dove.
Hundreds of hours of data passed through his mind in seconds. His fingers stopped moving on the keys, choosing instead to just transmit the information, as if the Internet was an extension of his brain.
He chose to spend the time going to the location for two reasons. One, it was easier to focus if he was closer to the thing he was trying to access. And two, Chase would have noticed and stopped him before he could finish.

    Nobody fucks with his team.

It took five minutes in real time. But time didn't matter when he was diving.
    -
""Do you know how long it took to convince Blazer that I could, in fact, sit at a desk and talk into a mic in a wheelchair?" Robert complained to Sonar, Coupe, and Invisigal, whose cast-encased leg was propped up on a second chair.
"I can't imagine why she would think you'd get ideas about going off and doing things you shouldn't be doing while you're on your shift. It's like that's never happened before." Sonar's voice dripped with sarcasm, but the bat mutant set a brimming cup of coffee in front of Robert. "It's only double. I'm not getting chewed out by Blazer for giving you a triple."

Robert picked up the cup. He could smell the white chocolate.

"Thank you." He said, in the most heartfelt, sincere voice that has ever passed his lips.

Coupe fell off the counter laughing. She didn't fall on her face, of course, like Invisigal would have. It was Coupe.

    Notes:
So... yeah. Had this idea after the first hacking scene of episode 2, and it crawled its way into my brain and stayed there till I wrote it. This is a bit rushed, but it came out about how I wanted. Obviously, this is written very early on in the game so I dont know a lot about character's personalities, and I ended up favoring some over others on the team.

The idea for his powers is that... okay, my reference is edgerunning from Cyberpunk 2077 in terms of appearance and base mechanics, but basically, Robert can "dive" into the internet. He's still connected to his body, but the sheer amount of data that he is getting, because it's the fucking internet, is massive, and very easily overwhelms physical sensations. Like Eleven from Stranger Things, when he overuses, or really just uses his powers at all, he starts getting nosebleeds, and it progresses from there.
I imagine his training likely looked like accessing larger and larger amounts of data on a computer that had no outgoing connections, to try and get him used to the data. If we find out more about how Robert's relationship was with his dad, I'll likely write a training scene."
