Summary
Odysseus heard a noise.
He headed down from his chambers, exploring the palace corridors; in the darkness, the shadows of his mother's curtains and clothes, abandoned on the armchairs, loomed.
He heard the noise again, so Odysseus grabbed a lantern from his bedside table and, reentering the corridor, observed the shadows cast on the wall; almost nothing, just furniture.
Down the corridor, he looked out the window; his gaze followed the moon. He slipped; something had become lodged under his feet.-
