“How are we doing in here?” Phichit asked as he came into the room. Yuuri was adjusting his bowtie in the mirror.
“I’m good. Are we almost ready?” Yuuri asked as he smoothed down his jacket. Victor had insisted on getting new suits for the occasion.
“Yup everything is ready we just need our grooms!” Phichit came behind Yuuri in the mirror, “Are you nervous?”
“No, I’ve already done this once before and I think I panicked enough that day to make up for today.”
~
Yuuri was so excited, his wedding day was finally here! He had his perfect suit, the day planned to a tee and he was currently having a Great. Big. Panic Attack.
Victor is not going to be waiting for me at the end of the aisle. He probably already left. There’s no way he could ever be happy with a mess of a person like me.
Yuuri tried to breathe but he felt like there was no air in the room. He ripped his jacket and tie off and flung them across the room not caring where they landed. He needed to breathe. He couldn’t breathe.
That was how his best man found him, kneeling on the floor and wheezing. The only words he could get out were all the reasons Victor couldn’t love him. Phichit tried his best to calm him down but ended up running down the hall to the room where Victor was getting ready.
Victor burst into the room and gathered Yuuri into his arms and kept telling him how much he loved him. How he had been counting down the minutes until the ceremony started.
Yuuri thankfully was able to calm down in Victor’s embrace. He looked up at Victor and was finally able to take in the stunning view that he was.
“How am I supposed to go out there like this when you look like that? I look like a trash monster next to your flawlessness.” Yuuri whispered as he dropped his eyes to the floor.
“Hey, that's my future husband you're talking about and I think he’s absolutely breathtaking.” Victor caressed Yuuri’s cheek. “My Yuuri is beautiful.”
“Your Yuuri is an anxious mess.” Yuuri sighed sadly.
“My Yuuri can be whatever he needs to be as long as he’s mine.”
“You really still want to marry me like this?”
“Love, I’d marry you however and wherever you want. I’ll send all the guests home, and we can just get married in this room with our pajamas on. Well my only request would be that Makkachin gets to attend. She’s been so looking forward to being the flower girl afterall.”
Yuuri giggled.
“I don’t care how it happens as long as I get to be Mr. Victor Katsuki-Nikiforov by the end of the day.”
Yuuri smiled, “And I get to be Yuuri Katsuki-Nikiforov.”
Victor leaned in to give Yuuri a tender kiss. “So are you ready to get married?” Victor asked.
“As long as you stay by my side I’m ready for anything.”
~
Yuuri and Victor were celebrating their ten year wedding anniversary with a vow renewal. Their original wedding had been a grand affair so they were just having a small ceremony with the people that mattered most to them. They were having the ceremony on the beach in Hasetsu, the same one where they bonded as a couple all those years ago.
“Tousan, I have your boutonniere. “ Katsu, their teenage son, said as he entered the room.
“Thank you, Honey. Don’t you look handsome.” Yuuri complimented and gave his son a kiss on the cheek.
“Tousan,” Katsu whined, “that’s embarrassing."
“I’m sorry, I’ll stop. How’s your sister doing?”
“She’s fine. She’s showing everyone how twirly her dress is.”
Yuuri chuckled, “She’s like her Papa in that way.”
As if summoned, Alina came skipping into the room. “Tousan! Tousan! Look at my dress.”
“You look beautiful sweetheart.” Yuuri said as he gave his daughter a hug and a kiss.
“How’s your Papa doing?”
“He’s whining that he can’t be with you all morning.” Alina laughed at her Russian dad’s antics.
Yuuri shook his head in amusement. “I guess we shouldn’t keep him waiting any longer then. Let’s head out there.”
Yuuri took his place with his parents at the end of the aisle behind his son and daughter. The music started and the procession began.
~
Yuuri held his breath as he watched the bridal party walk down the aisle ahead of him. His mom squeezed his arm and he was met with a smile when he looked over to her. The music changed and his walk began. He was lucky that he had his parents there to hold him up because once he caught sight of Victor his legs refused to work.
He was a vision in his tux. Hair perfectly styled. He too was holding back tears as he gazed upon Yuuri.
After what felt like an eternity he made it to Victor.
“You look stunning, my love.” Victor whispered as he accepted Yuuri’s hand from his parents.
Yuuri blushed, “I love you.”
“I love you too.” Victor snuck a kiss on Yuuri’s cheek.
“I saw that” Phichit said, “Save it for the end.”
They both giggled and then faced the officiant.
“We are gathered here today…”
~
“...to celebrate the 10 years of marriage of Yuuri and Victor with a vow renewal. The couple has written their own vows that at this time I would ask them to read to each other.” The officiant gestured to Yuuri to begin.
Yuuri let go of one of Victor’s hands to retrieve a folded sheet of paper from his jacket pocket. He looked up into the seas of blues that he had come to know, “Vitya, it seems like just yesterday we were standing in a very similar position getting married. I don’t know where the time went, but I am so happy and thankful that I got to spend that time with you. Ten years we have been married. We have seen each other through ups and downs, through moves and career changes. We have raised a family together and I know the future has much more in store for us and I can’t wait to tackle it with you by my side.”
Yuuri sniffled, “I don’t know what I did in a past life to be blessed with such an amazing person as you by my side. Someone who pushes me to better than I am. Someone who loves me for all that I am. Vitya, I love you. I know that I don’t say those words enough but I hope you feel the love I’ve had and will continue to have for you in our day to day life.”
“Thank you for making me a better skater, a better friend, a better partner, and for joining me on the journey through parenthood. It hasn’t always been easy, but considering that we started with two kids and they are standing beside us today I think we did alright.” The crowd chuckled.
“Now I need to steal a few words from a younger me…
….Vitya, I love you today, tomorrow, and forevermore. I love the man that you are and the man that you are yet to be. Please stay by my side and never let go. Ya tebya lyublyu.”
Just like on their original wedding day Victor was reduced to a weepy puddle by his husband’s vows. Yuuri put his speech back in his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief to dab the tears away from his husband’s cheeks.
Once Victor had regained his composure he took both of Yuuri’s hands in his own and gazed deeply into those pools of melted chocolate he had come to love so much. “My dear Yuuri,” he cleared his throat, “I cannot tell you how long I tried to find the correct words to say. The words that would encompass my love for you and our lives together. I went through so many sheets of paper-
“-You still owe me a new notebook, Papa.” Alina interrupted. The two fathers laughed.
“That I do,” Victor continued, “I went through so many pieces of papers only to find that the words I was searching for simply do not exist. The only words I could come up with are ones that I have used many times before: Life and Love.”
“Solnyshko, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to thank you enough for giving me my “L Words”. You showed me what it meant to love someone with my whole heart by letting me love you. I able to find so many joys in life now that you have fought off the dark clouds that used to damper any chance I had for happiness. You have given me a family. Both by welcoming me into your own all those years ago and again when we took that leap to become parents even though we were both terrified.”
Victor shook his head of amusement, “Speaking of that, thank you for being the fearless one on our parenthood journey because as many of you know or could probably guess I had no idea what to do with a dirty diaper.”
“I digress, thank you for being the perfect husband for me in every possible way. Thank you for loving me all these years even with my thinning hair.”
Yuuri rolled his eyes, “Your hair is not thinning.”
“Shh love, this is my turn to talk.” Victor cleared his throat once again. “I think I am going to take a page out of my very wise husband’s book and look to a younger version of myself for the correct words to say…
….Yuuri, my love, my sun, my heart and soul I love you to the moon and back. I will love you for the rest of time and a little more after that. Thank you for dancing into my life. I can’t wait to continue dancing through life with you now and forever.”
Yuuri sniffled as Victor pulled him in for a gentle kiss on the forehead.
“Now for the rings,” The officiant explained. Victor and Yuuri had gotten an additional band to wear next to the gold rings Yuuri bought in Barcelona. Katsu and Alina stepped forward to give their fathers the rings. With rings exchanged, they had come to the final part of the ceremony.
“By the power vested in me,” the officiant said, “I now pronounce you still husband and husband. You may seal this marriage with a kiss.” As he stepped to the side, Victor kissed Yuuri as he dipped him. The crowd cheered.
“It is my great pleasure to present to you Yuuri and Victor Katsuki-Nikiforov!”
The couple made their way down the aisle towards their reception with their kids, family and friends in tow.
They looked at each other.
“I love you.” Yuuri said.
“I love you too,” Victor replied.
“Forever,” Yuuri continued and his wrapped his arms around his husband’s neck
“And Always.” Victor captured Yuuri’s lips in another kiss.
