Work Text:
Eugene should have told Pugsley not to go to this party was a bad idea. Because somebody spiked the punch. Eugene had received a string of very (almost) illegible texts.

EuEu
Cam you agit me pgleasse?
Eugene narrows his eyes at the texts, a frown on his face. Of course, a few nights after he had his whole realization about his feelings for Pugsley, the boy goes off and gets drunk by accident. He slips his shoes on and carefully peels open the door. Ajax is probably asleep by now, but Eugene wants to be careful just in case. His footsteps can be heard echoing down the hall, and he winces at every floorboard creaking.
When he finally reaches the series of dorm rooms, he hopes to god that Pugsley was already outside. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't. Eugene opened the door where the noise was coming from. Already, there was an insane amount of chatter. The sound made Eugene's head pound. He shifted through the crowd, ignoring the amount of alcohol he could smell.
“EuEu,” He heard Pugsley slur from somewhere, a weight being pressed into his back.
“Pugsley, Jesus, how much did you drink?”
He lets out a hum and shrugs after a bit. Eugene sighed and put his arm around the other boy's waist, pulling him closer to his side so that he wouldn't lose him in the crowd.
“Is this your boyfriend?” Someone called out, and Pugsley shifted further into Eugene. Some laughter echoed, and Pugsley raised his middle finger to the crowd. Eugene decides that he's done with all the noise and begins dragging Pugsley back to the door.
With an arm still wrapped around his waist, Eugene makes his way back to their dorms. …He was trying to make his way back; every so often, Pugsley would stumble or almost fall over. He knew for sure that Ajax had to have known what was going on by now. Either he chose to let it continue, or he was too tired to care.
When they finally got to the dorms, Eugene dropped Pugsley onto his own bed. The drunk boy giggled, and Eugene didnt want to know what he was thinking about. Addams tends to be morbid. He can't imagine what they're like when drunk.
“Eugenee,” The boy whines, and Eugene has to resist the urge to roll his eyes.
“Yes, Pugsley?”
“Credo me te amare.”
He let out a sigh this time and turned to face the boy. “I don't know what that means.”
Pugsley let out a huff, “You could pretend you do.”
“You could also just tell me what it means.”
“Thats boring”
Eugene slips off his shoes and ignores the random ramblings that are coming out of the other boy's mouth.
“I need to go brush my teeth. Can you stay here until I'm back?”
Pugsley shot up, and for a moment, Eugene was worried the other boy was about to throw up.
“Noo, I’can come wi’h you.” The boy slurred, and Eugene doesnt know how he's going to handle this for however long it takes for the other boy to sober up.
“Pugsley, please stay here”
He stands and sways on his feet. Eugene rushed to catch him before he fell over.
“This is why I was telling you to stay there!”
“Do’snt matter ‘m going with you.” Eugene was going to lose his mind. It was too late at night for him to argue with a very drunk Pugsley.
“No, we're staying here. Go lie back down.”
“You’re so bossy,” Pugsley muttered, still flopping back onto the bed despite that.
“I'm not the one who got drunk!” Eugene said back, still watching his volume despite the urge to express his frustrations properly.
“Mm, not my fault!” Pugsley said, “I was sad.”
Eugene paused at that. He didnt know how well drunk Pugsley would be willing to answer questions, but it's worth a try anyway, isn't it?
“Why were you sad?”
Pugsley groaned, dragging his hands down his face in what seemed to be frustration. Eugene sat next to where the boy lay, and he twisted to look at him almost instantly.
“You’re really pretty, you know.”
What?
“What?”
“Pulchra es.”
“Pugsley, I don't know what you're saying–”
His heart was hammering in his chest, You’re really pretty, you know, you're really pretty–you're really–
pretty.
“You are pretty,” Pugsley said slowly, as if Eugene was the one being unreasonable! He can't just say that!
“And you’re drunk. You should go to sleep.”
“That's why I'm sad,” Pugsley said slowly, “How am I meant to know how you feel about me?”
He blinked, sitting further back. He wanted Pugsley to keep talking, but the boy didn't seem like he wanted to say anything else.
“What do you mean?” Eugene said after he had stayed silent for longer.
“I think I'm in love with you,” Pugsley said, and Eugene's brain practically stopped working. How was he meant to respond to that?
“What?”
“See! That's what I mean! What do I make of that?”
“You can't just drop that when you're drunk!”
“Well, I'm not going to say it sober?” Pugsley sounds confused as to why Eugene would be distressed.
“That's exactly when you're meant to say it!” Eugene stressed, “Because, sorry Pugsley, I thought I told you about this, but people giving drunk confessions aren't reliable!”
“Why would I lie while drunk?”
“I don't know!” Eugene practically shouted
“Do you realize you're all I think about? Querido mío, ocupas cada parte de mi mente.”
His scars are glowing, and Eugene tries not to think about how pretty they are right now. He tries not to remember when he ran his hands along those same scars and how the electricity danced underneath his skin.
“Pugsley, how can I know you’re even going to remember what you just said?”
“I think it anyways!” Pugsley said, and Eugene was trying to figure out if he really meant anything that he had said. It was confusing.
“Will you just—”
Pugsley surges forward, and their lips connect. Eugene forgets everything about his insecurities that have been screaming in his head this whole time. He can't help but lean into it all the same. He brings his arms around Pugsley's shoulder and pushes him away. He ignores the urge he has to lean forward, to chase the feeling again. Pugsley's drunk. He won't do this like this. He won't let Pugsley take the easy out—the easy method to talk about his feelings because nothing about either of them is easy.
“We're not doing this like that,” Eugene said, and he stood from the bed.
“Eugene—”
“Sober up. If you’re going to confess to me fucking mean it.”
Eugene barely thinks about slipping on his shoes; he doesnt fully know where he's going to go, but he needs to be anywhere but here right now. No matter how badly he wants Pugsley, no matter how badly he wants this.
Pugsley doesnt try and stop him this time.
