Summary
It overwhelms Lennie, all the shouting ringing in his ears. He squeezes his eyes shut, and he quickly drops George onto the ground to clap his hands over his ears, whimpering as he spins around to face the opposite way.
He doesn’t see when Curley aims the gun at the back of his head, just as he doesn’t see him taking steady steps towards him. He doesn’t hear the gun go off, already on the floor, his eyes closing one last time, next to George like he’d always been.
