⚙️ Timeline of the Brotherhood of Steel (1983–2045)
"Preserve the Past. Enforce the Present. Dominate the Future."
🔹 1983 – Birth of a Founder
Arthur Maxon was born in Chicago, Illinois, into a mixed family with military and engineering backgrounds. Raised in a strict household that emphasized discipline, patriotism, and scientific knowledge.

🔹 2002–2007 – Combat & Conversion
Serves multiple tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Becomes disillusioned with politicians but gains immense respect for military technology and the battlefield necessity of efficient leadership. Transfers to Advanced Weapons Testing Division by 2008, working on prototype body armor, drones, and counter-insurgency systems.
🔹 2011 – Discharge & Shadow Foundations
Honorably discharged after 10 years of service. Becomes a private defense contractor, secretly gathering likeminded engineers and officers who believe the U.S. is crumbling. Begins laying groundwork for a militaristic order dedicated to preserving technological superiority and order over chaos.
🔹 2022 – WWIII Begins
With WW3 erupting, Arthur and his circle are reactivated as contractors and strategic analysts. Witnesses the rapid fall of NATO, the collapse of global cooperation, and the obsolescence of treaties like the Geneva Convention.
🔹 2025 – Codex Drafted
In secret bunkers below Fort Carson and Cheyenne Mountain, Arthur and a faction of engineers, officers, and scientists draft the Steel Codex—a doctrine to preserve humanity's most advanced technology through absolute control, discipline, and isolation. He coins the phrase:
"Technology is the only god left."
🔹 2028 – The Tehran Catalyst
The nuclear obliteration of Tehran is seen as proof of civilization's failure. Arthur survives the bombing of Denver and begins organizing his faction under a singular name:
The Brotherhood of Steel.
🔹 2032 – The Silence
Global nuclear war has reached North America. With cities vaporized and communication gone, Maxon's Brotherhood initiates Project Lockdown, sealing bunkers in Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, and the Dakotas. Dozens of high-value labs and vaults fall under Brotherhood control.
🔹 2033 – Re-Emergence
The Brotherhood opens its bunkers and begins recon operations across the Great Plains. Early skirmishes against raiders, remnants of enemy military paratroopers, and surviving tech-scavenger gangs. Arthur Maxon broadcasts the first signal of the Brotherhood:
"We are steel. We are order. Surrender your technology—or be purged."
🔹 2035 – The Ascension of Maxon
Arthur Maxon formally declares the High Command of the Brotherhood of Steel. Takes the title "Elder Prime". Establishes Citadel Maxon in a restored pre-war NORAD installation. Began training of Paladins, Knights, Scribes, and Initiates.
🔹 2037 – The Codex Enforced
All Brotherhood-controlled zones outlaw unrestricted technology access to civilians. Independent AI, unsanctioned weaponry, or advanced cybernetics = immediate seizure or destruction. Becomes infamous for its "Cleanse and Seize" missions.
🔹 2039 – Rise of the Steel Frontier
Brotherhood territory expands from Chicago to the Rockies, encompassing industrial ruins, transport hubs, and pre-war research centers. Unveils the Aegis-Class Power Armor, integrated with AI-assist tech, HUD neural link, and fusion-core redundancy.
🔹 2040 – Brotherhood vs. Raiders
Massive bunker raids across Raider territory. Brotherhood recovers pre-nuclear AI control nodes, a prototype orbital weapon system, and blueprints for power armor auto-fabs. Victorious, but losses are severe. Prompts Maxon to restrict deep expansions without overwhelming technological edge.
🔹 2042 – The Codex Council
With Maxon aging, leadership shifts to a council-based system, with Maxon holding Founder's Veto powers. Begins formal diplomacy with Twisted Hairs, tentative arms-control talks with Texan Republic, and tech-respect treaties with Followers of Doss.
🔹 2044 – Final Years of Elder Prime
Arthur Maxon, now 61 years old, is rarely seen in public. His voice is broadcast across Brotherhood territories once a year to reaffirm the mission. A new generation of Paladins, including the infamous "Steel Ghosts" (cloaked recon-infil ops), expand influence into the Appalachian ruins.
🔹 2045 – The Legacy of the Machine
Brotherhood controls over a quarter of the former United States, specializing in: High-tech warfare Cybernetic engineering Energy weapon dominance Drone-net tactical superiority Neutral toward most other factions unless tech is involved. Continues to serve as Remnant Earth's technological vault, militant in preservation but rarely needlessly aggressive.
⚙️ Brotherhood of Steel Doctrine Summary:
Technology = Survival Discipline = Purity Unity = Supremacy
Enemies of order, enemies of logic, and enemies of the Codex are to be cleansed without compromise.
🕊️ Timeline of the Followers of Doss (1995–2045)

🔹 2013 – A Path of Compassion
Graduates from St. Augustine Catholic High School with honors in biology and theology. Enrolls at University of Utah aiming for medical school after getting his college degree, specifically to become a trauma surgeon or battlefield medic. Joins campus peace advocacy groups and volunteers in underserved communities.
🔹 2022 – War Ignites the World
World War III began. Despite his aversion to violence, Ryan enlists in the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer, aiming to serve as a combat medic. Cites his ancestor as inspiration:
"I won't carry a rifle. My weapon is mercy."
🔹 2023–2025 – Baptism in Blood
Assigned to combat hospitals across Poland, Ukraine, and the Balkans. Refuses a sidearm. Becomes both respected and controversial for rushing into live combat zones unarmed to rescue wounded from both sides. Awarded multiple commendations for valor, including pulling twelve wounded Russian soldiers from a chemical strike zone during the Balkan push.
🔹 2026 – Near Martyrdom in Norway
During the Battle of Narvik, Ryan is hit with shrapnel while shielding a child from crossfire. Wakes up in a NATO hospital weeks later. His story spreads, and soldiers begin calling him "The White Cross".
🔹 2028 – Tehran's Black Sky
Witnesses the satellite feed of the October 20th nuclear destruction of Tehran. The loss of over 200,000 troops shatters what remains of his trust in command structure. Starts writing his doctrine, "Sanctuary Amid Fire," laying the philosophical groundwork for what would become The Followers of Doss.
🔹 2030 – Operation Mercy Chains
Goes AWOL with other medics, engineers, and trauma nurses. Begins liberating POW camps, building mobile clinics, sheltering orphans, wounded soldiers, and displaced civilians. Refuses to take sides.
"Whether you carried a rifle or cried behind it, you bleed the same. We heal them all."
🔹 2032 – The Fire Falls
Nuclear war devastates Earth. Salt Lake City is partially destroyed, but Ryan and his mobile team survive, sheltered in a converted mine-turned-medical bunker near Provo, Utah. For months, the Followers remain underground, keeping thousands alive.
🔹 2033 – Light in the Ruins
Ryan leads his followers back to the surface. Establishes Camp Desmond, a medical sanctuary built on the skeletal remains of a university hospital in what used to be Ogden, Utah. His broadcasts offering free medical care to any survivors go viral across wasteland radio.
🔹 2034 – Formation of the Followers
The movement is formally named: The Followers of Doss. Their banner: A white cross encased in a golden circle—symbolizing divine healing within human unity. Opens the first "Peace Spine", a line of mobile clinics stretching from Utah to Colorado.
🔹 2035 – Resistance Through Mercy
The Followers come under attack by raiders and rogue units. Despite refusing to bear arms, Ryan authorizes the use of non-lethal defense drones, shield units, and tranquilizers. Begins the "Pacifist Protocol"—every defender is trained in martial arts, shield formation tactics, and battlefield rescue.
🔹 2037 – The Codex of Life
Ryan finishes his moral, ethical, and operational guide: The Codex of Life. Outlines the principles: Heal regardless of flag. Fight only to protect the helpless. No forced conversions. The sanctity of life above all. The Followers expand east toward the Rockies and west toward Nevada.
🔹 2039 – Operation Crimson Mercy
The Followers infiltrate a Brotherhood-Enclave frontline zone to rescue over 800 children and medics caught in artillery crossfire. Ryan personally leads the charge unarmed. Though wounded again, he returns all of them alive.
🔹 2040 – Fractures and Factions
Some radicals within the Followers break off, demanding military intervention and permanent settlements. Ryan maintains the movement's mobile, anti-war humanitarian core. Establishes dialogue with the Twisted Hairs, Texan Republic, and even limited contact with the Brotherhood of Steel.
🔹 2044 – Ryan Doss at 49
Still leads from the front. Slower now, with a limp, scars, and a cybernetic rib from old wounds—but his spirit is untouched. Known across the wasteland as: "The Healer with No Gun" "Saint Doss" "The Last Living Cross"
🔹 2045 – Global Reach
The Followers operate clinics from Alberta to northern Chile, often behind enemy lines. Maintain neutrality in the Peace between the Texan Republic, Enclave, UPC, Brotherhood, and Twisted Hairs. Still refuse to hold territory. Wherever the people bleed, that's their home.
🕊️ Doctrine of the Followers of Doss:
No Weapon Shall Be Raised First. All Life Deserves Care. You Are Not Your Flag. Faith Is Not Blind—It Is Willing. Pain Is Not Weakness—But Ignoring It Is. We Live to Heal. We Die So Others Live.

🔹 2024 – Cornrows & Shadow Wars
U.S. Armed Forces relax grooming regulations due to the attrition rate and long deployments. Anthony begins growing and twisting his hair into tight cornrows, symbolizing warrior lineage and remembrance. He, his younger enlisted brothers, and his father are recruited into MAC-SOG, the elite Marine-Army hybrid task force.
"No rules. Just objectives."
🔹 2025–2028 – Pacific Slaughter
Deployed to the Pacific against China and North Korea. Receives most of his combat wounds here. Leads suicidal but successful bayonet charges in Japan, earning him the name "The Bayonet Devil". In 2028, his father and most of MAC-SOG are killed during the nuclear annihilation of Tehran. Anthony survives. His rage turns cold.

Among the last units holding the City of Angels against invading ground forces and chaos. Fights until the bombs fall. Survives in the metro ruins with scraps, experience, and willpower.
🔹 2033 – Exodus East
Six months post-bombs. Anthony, Mina, and their surviving children lead a caravan east alongside soldiers, survivors, orphans, and wanderers. The group becomes known for twisting their hair—cornrows, dreads, braids—in mourning and as a symbol of spiritual armor.
🔹 2034 – Birth of the Twisted Hairs
They arrive in Maryland, specifically Old Baltimore and the ruined D.C. corridor. Anthony unites various survivor communities, tribalized gang remnants, ex-soldiers, and civilians. Declares the foundation of a new tribal nation:
The Twisted Hairs
Named for the bonds braided in fire, faith, and freedom.
🔹 2035 – Dominion of the Beasts
Inspired by pre-war genetic data and urban legends, Anthony's followers tame and breed Deathclaws. Develop psychic-empathic bonding techniques through controlled exposure and food imprinting. Deathclaws become the Twisted Hairs' guardians, mounts, and spiritual protectors.
🔹 2036–2038 – The Peace Doctrine
Anthony declares neutrality toward all major powers. Enforced strict No Preemptive War policies. Opens the Three Braids Summit, where the Texan Republic, Brotherhood of Steel, Followers of Doss, and UPC send envoys to meet in neutral territory. Uses his personal reputation, war stories, and sheer charisma to prevent multiple inter-faction wars.
🔹 2039 – The Cultural Resurgence
Launches the "Old Soul Program"—a blend of street culture, tribal honor, spiritual wisdom, and martial training. Twisted Hairs adopt braided and twisted hairstyles as formal ranks and legacy markers. Anthony takes in more orphans and war children, bringing his total number of his blood-related children of 30 to 20 non-blood-related to a large amount of 50 by year's end.
🔹 2040–2044 – The Council Era
With Anthony aging and focusing on diplomacy, a Council of Braided Rings is formed. Each member represents a different regional tribe: The D.C. Claws, The Potomac Weavers, The Tide Braids, and The Shadowlocks. Anthony becomes The Patriarch of the Braids, a symbolic leader and final arbiter. Trains his eldest children and godchildren to lead—military, spiritual, and diplomatic.
🔹 2045 – Present Day
The Twisted Hairs span the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, and parts of the Deep South. Known for: Powerful Deathclaw units Elite melee and stealth fighters Combat medics trained by the Followers of Doss Infiltrators respected even by the Brotherhood Feared by none. Respected by all. Still neutral—but armed and dangerous.
🧠 Philosophy of the Twisted Hairs:
"Every twist in the braid is a battle we lived through.
Every knot, a life we saved.
And when we bury our dead—we braid them into memory."
Twisted Hairs Combat Divisions Overview
The Twisted Hairs operate as a tribal confederation, but their military is highly disciplined, decentralized, and specialized. Every unit is trained in asymmetrical warfare, wilderness survival, and Deathclaw evasion or control. Their division names reflect both cultural heritage and battlefield role.

🔥 Tactical Notes
Twisted Hairs never fight to conquer—only to protect, defend, or enforce boundaries. Their Black Ops Corps are used sparingly—usually to dismantle a threat before it grows. Most units are mobile and untraceable, trained to fade into terrain, manipulate sensors, and use non-linear battlefield tactics. Deathclaws are never deployed en masse—only in pair bond squads, often as psychological deterrents.
🕊️ Followers of Doss – Territorial Divisions & Command Structure (2045)
"Faithful not to the sword, but to the wound it leaves behind."
🔹 I. Homeland Territories (Direct Control)
The Followers' homeland is the Western Medical Confederation, centered around Utah, Colorado, Northern Arizona, and Southern Idaho. These zones are under full Dossian control, governed through non-hierarchical councils led by senior medics, field chaplains, and logistician-scribes.
🔸 Capital Sanctuary: Camp Desmond
Location: Ogden, Utah
Function: Grand Temple, Main Surgical Halls, Archives of Doss Codex, and Diplomacy Chamber
Personnel: 500 full-time medics, scribes, and spiritual leaders
Protected by: Pacifist drones, shield-bearer guards (non-lethal), and bio-sensor fences
🔸 Key Homeland Divisions:
The Mercy Spine (Utah–Colorado Line) Acts as a fortified humanitarian corridor from Salt Lake City to Colorado Springs. It contains three major hospitals, a university, a desalinated water pipeline, and war-trauma centers. Handles critical surgical cases and long-term refugee shelter.
The Bloodless Range (Northern Arizona) Mountain sanctuary with hidden bunkers and drone-watch platforms. Used for detoxing radiation, healing chemical/bioweapon survivors, and refugee processing. Also, home to advanced prosthetic R&D and training for field medics.
The White Veil Chapels (Southern Idaho) Rural zones are dotted with monasteries, agricultural healing retreats, and mental trauma centers. Heavy psychological care and spiritual rehabilitation program.
🔹 II. Out-of-Territory Divisions (Dossian Missions & Stations)
Despite their small size, the Followers of Doss maintain a wide and highly active international presence in the form of mobile clinics, field hospitals, and healing chapels. Each outpost operates under strict neutrality, often enforced by the local government or militia faction.
🛡️ A. Twisted Hairs Territory (Friendliest Ground)
Status: Protected allies granted full autonomy within borders.
Special Arrangements: Dossians are allowed to accompany Deathclaw Guardians to treat wounded beasts. Several Twisted Hairs camps feature "Healing Braids", co-managed shelters where warriors and Dossian medics care for the same injured.
Known Outposts:
1. The Knotting Tree – Deep in the Appalachian woods. Handles severe trauma, limb regrowth, PTSD treatment.
2. Shelter #38 "Osaka's Light" – A mobile med-shrine named after Osaka Towson. Used for battlefield triage during Twisted Hairs raids.

⭐ B. Texan Republic Territory (Cautious Tolerance)
Status: Respected but watched. Must maintain complete non-involvement in Texan military zones.
Operational Boundaries: May only enter Texan war zones if carrying wounded civilians or holding "Blue Tags" (Republic-issued mercy visas). Healing Raiders on Texan soil is grounds for exile—but exceptions are made if children or civilians are involved.
Known Outposts:
1. Trinity Field Refuge (Former Fort Hood)
Largest mobile field hospital in Texas. Specializes in burn trauma and chemical decontamination.
2. Red Sun Shelter (Galveston Coastline)
Primarily treats wounded sea migrants, Texan Navy injured, and plague victims.

☣️ C. Enclave Territory (High Risk – Critical Missions)
Status: Officially labeled as "pacifist agitators." Unofficially tolerated in exchange for treating Enclave families and troops too far from advanced facilities.
Operational Modus: Dossians operate in secret, often under Enclave-assigned codenames or "ghost tags".
Protection: Occasionally granted by Enclave officers sympathetic to Ryan Doss's ideology. Usually ex-military personnel.
Known Outposts:
1. Clinic Sigma-V (Location: Classified – South Dakota Wastes)
Underground trauma station. Rumored to treat wounded from Enclave bioweapon accidents.
2. Pax Null House (Enclave-Alaskan Border)
Operated by disguised Dossians wearing Enclave insignia. Silent medics perform amputations, cure frostbite, and offer pain-free euthanasia on request.
3. "Black Cross" Refuge – Mobile trauma chapel escorted by rogue Enclave Paladins. Disavowed by high command but allowed to function.
🔹 III. Other Global Deployments
The UPC: Dossians maintain one Disaster Dome in San Francisco. Allowed limited access to UPC's drone network for medical drops.
Brotherhood of Steel: Most Brotherhood zones deny them entry.
Exception: "Codex Bridge" Program – a secret tech-medicine exchange for non-lethal biotech and battlefield treatment protocols.
South America (Texan-Controlled) Jungle relief units assist in chemical-burn injuries and post-viral hemorrhagic plague wards. Clinics rarely survive for more than six months before relocation.
🧬 Divisional Structure Overview
Each location—whether in-territory or out—is divided into one of the following four functional wings:
1. The Field Mercy Corps
Triage specialists, mobile medics, surgical teams. Wear white coats with a red-stained braid on the shoulder. Often accompanied by non-lethal drones and shield guards.
2. The Scribes of the Vein
Medical data preservationists, field researchers, bio-code writers. Maintain the Codex Vitae (The Living Medical Scrolls). Frequently embedded with UPC labs or sent on retrieval missions.
3. The Peacebearers
Pacifist defenders who are unarmed but trained in disarmament and casualty evacuation. Use heavy shields, stun-gels, and pressure-pulse equipment to stop conflict without harm. Usually form the "walls" around mobile clinics in dangerous zones.
4. The Choral Light
Priests, chaplains, and spiritual trauma therapists. Sing hymns of comfort, perform last rites, and anchor the soul of the Followers' mission. Their presence is often more terrifying to Enclave brass than any weapon—they represent ideas that can't be killed.
🦅 Timeline of the Enclave (2032–2045)
"From Ashes, Authority."
"We did not inherit the Earth. We were trained to rebuild it."
🔹 2032 – The Day the Sky Fell
The global nuclear exchange ended World War III. For eight months, surviving military units from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico operate independently with zero contact from civilian leadership or allied governments. In this vacuum, multiple surviving generals, admirals, and high-clearance officials convene via Cold War-era secure channels.
🔹 2033 – Founding of the Enclave
From the ruins of command rises the North American Unified Military Provisional Government, later shortened to simply: The Enclave.
General Dustin J. Walker, former USMC Force Recon and co-leader of MAC-SOG, is voted in as Commandant-General. The Enclave seizes control of the following military strongholds:
Cheyenne Mountain Complex
Anchorage Bunker Arc
Greenland Strategic Vault
D.C. Defense Core (under Pentagon ruins)
Pacific Command Node – Pearl Harbor Dustin issues the first Enclave Order:
"No flags. No borders. Just survival. And we will be the architects of it."
🔹 2034 – Operation: Continent's Spine
The Enclave asserts martial law over former federal zones in Alaska, Montana, D.C., and Hawaii. Units reclaim power stations, intact rail lines, and pre-war food storage facilities. ⚠️ EVENT NAME: Pacific Biochemical Cascade
Date: Late 2028
Agent: Chinese-developed biochemical weapon (codenamed "Project CHI-X Type Ω")
Delivery Method: Dirty bomb combined with cloud-seeding and monsoon deployment
Result: Widespread DNA alteration in surviving population centers across the Pacific Theatre, West Coast of North/Central/South America, and numerous military units stationed or deployed in the Pacific campaign.
🧬 Transformation Mechanism:
CHI-X Type Ω was a retroviral gene agent encoded with mammalian and reptilian DNA segments intended to cripple US/Allied genetics over time. It backfired catastrophically due to: Rapid human adaptation Complex regional DNA variance The introduction of anti-radiation pre-med protocols that unintentionally fused traits rather than deteriorated them.
🌎 Impact Zones:
1. Pacific Island Nations
DNA changes affected over 62% of native-born individuals. Traits leaned toward aquatic or amphibious types — gills, webbed feet, scales, enhanced swim speed.
2. California (Mainland USA – West Coast)
48% of civilians in NorCal and SoCal mutated within 3 months. Primary traits: fox ears, cat tails, canine teeth, enhanced hearing/smell, some reptilian scales (in drier regions). Night vision, strong muscle density, and agility are common. Cities like San Diego, San Francisco, and Fresno now have entire "demi-human" districts.
3. Western Mexico (Sonora, Baja California, Sinaloa)
51% mutation rate. Traits leaned toward jaguar, coyote, and serpent physiology. Some gained tongue bifurcation, retractable claws, golden feline eyes, or ridged skin.
4. Western South America (Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile's coast)
Traits ranged across Amazonian influence: monkeys, amphibians, snakes, large cats. Altitude increased prevalence of avian mutations — feathered forearms, raptor eyes, gliding membranes.
👥 Populations Affected:
- Civilian Populace:
Tens of millions now carry animal-DNA traits Often referred to as "Hybrid Citizens" or "Adapteds" Segregation was attempted but overturned after the Battle for LA (2032) proved hybrid capabilities were vital.
- Military:
Over 320,000 troops affected, forming the Demi-Human Corps in UPC structure. Mutation grants boosted reaction speed, sensory enhancement, and regenerative qualities. All hybrid soldiers undergo medical evaluations every 6 months to ensure mental and physical control.

🏛️ Social Integration in the UPC:
✳️ Government Policy:
All demi-humans are legally protected under "Article 7 of the Hybrid Defense and Integration Act" (2034). Discrimination is punishable by law, with mandated integration protocols in education, military, and civil service.
🏘️ Hybrid-Dominant Cities:
Marawi-2 (California) – Headquarters of the Hybrid Civil Council.
Nueva Ocelot (Sonora, Mexico) – Majority-jaguar-dominant city with elite stealth troops. Aquila Rossa (Andes Mountains) – Eagle-folk sky base that coordinates UPC airborne activity. Salt Deep (Off-Pacific Marine Dome) – Underwater colony of amphibious hybrids.
⚔️ Military Integration:
Hybrid traits are now standardized into training regimens.
Special weapons developed by ZWC: Clawgrip Plasma Casters Tail-Adapted Knife Harnesses Eye-Integrated Reflex HUDs
🟢 Hybrid-Exclusive Units:
The Fox Company – Keith's elite infiltration/sniper squads.
Unit Theta-9 – Avian recon & assassins trained in zero visibility conditions.
Deep Six Division – Aquatic hybrid black-ops corps who protect Pacific seabed infrastructure.
🔬 Genetic Studies and Cultural Notes:
Children born post-2030 to mutated parents are stable hybrids with no additional mutation.
Mixed pairings with unmutated humans show 75% chance of demi-human trait inheritance.
Cultural acceptance fluctuates between regions; the UPC media actively promotes positive hybrid representation.
