As the sun set over another beautiful day in the Clover Kingdom, with birds flying by, a tag team of three mages flew through the sky on their brooms. An idea flowing through one of their minds, that just demanded to be explored.
“Are you sure, this is a good idea, David? I mean we don't even know if the Captain doesn't already have his sights set on someone else..” Letoile, expressed her concerns. It wasn't often she went along with David's plans, but after seeing his determined face, she couldn't bring herself to crush his motivations.
“It’ll be fine, Letoile. I've thought about this mission long and hard and I'm certain the Captains available…… our Captain that is…” David said, feeling confident in his plan, as he's spent nights debating whether to execute it or not.
“....sure, but are you sure this is a good idea????” Letoile questioned, gesturing to the gloomy and dark atmosphere of the Black Bulls base that stayed camouflaged amongst the trees.
“.....well as far as i'm aware, the Captains are supposed to be in their quarterly meeting to discuss missions and what not. Sooooo theoretically their Captain shouldn't be there…” David said, unsure of himself. Knowing the Black Bulls Captain, it's highly likely he decided not to show and just sleep in for the day. “But we got Yuno here at least so we could just stage it as a friendly visit!!”
Yuno refused to look at David, as he was just dragged out of the Golden Dawn HQ on an important mission that couldn't be disclosed to anyone..
Realising now that believing anything that comes out of David's mouth is a mistake he's made dozens of times and yet still continues to fall for it…
Soon enough the three of them landed in front of the Black Bulls base, carefully approaching the front door. Sensing for any powerful mana that could belong to the Captains. Feeling relieved that they could only sense the mana of the black bulls that have stayed behind to rest or to cause havoc within their base.
David, the self proclaimed leader of this operation, took charge and knocked on the base's door. Hoping for a friendly greeting and not a fire ball to the face, which this squad had a habit of doing.
“Hm? Oh! Hello, what brings you guys here?...” Finral asked, once he opened the door, ignoring the fighting happening behind him and the shouting of Asta pushing past his limits, while trying to beat his pushup record.
“Well-”
“We’re here to propose an offer for a…. personal mission that involves your squad and has to stay undisclosed to anyone… especially your captain” Letoile asked, as polite and serious as normal. Despite not fully agreeing with David's plan, she wasn't about to deal with the backlash of David's disappointment.
“Ah.. well come in then?” Finral invited, a little confused but willing to hear them out. Interested in this super secret plan that needed their help.
“Thank you..” Letoile thanked Finral while the other two just nodded as a greeting, Yuno mostly ignoring everything, as he looked around for Asta. David happily walked in with a confident smirk, like his plan was going as planned.
A few Black Bulls members turned their attention to their guests who now stood in front of them all, looking out of place in their half-destroyed and messy base. Finral standing by Letolie who was expected to explain their visit to everyone, along with their mission.
“YUUNOO!!” Asta shouted running up to Yuno, sweaty and excited, happy to see Yuno. Determined to measure their strengths, to see if there was catching up to be done. “What brings you guys here?”
“YEAH! Are you planning to pick a fight or somethin’??” Magna asked, approaching the trio. More specifically David as he was the only one Magna knew, apart of Yuno.
“Ooo OO if you are, can I go first!? I've been itching for a fight!” Luck said, ready to throw hands at any minute, eyeing Yuno specifically.
Yuno noticed the curious eye Asta was giving him, as if demanding an answer to his earlier question. Noelle as well, but she was deliberately trying to NOT look at Yuno, either out of jealousy or simply looking down at him.
“...David wants to set up Captain Vangeance with your Captain..” Yuno said, simply, intending it mostly for Asta's ears but saying it loud enough for everyone to hear. Letolie gave him a look of disbelief, but sighing as she brushed past it. Knowing she should have expected as much from Yuno.
“Well there you go…” Letoile said, knowing that was the basic gist of their mission. David nodded along as the sparkle in his eyes waited expectedly for a positive answer.
“Yup! So what do you say? You wanna help us?” David asked, looking at Finral, who was the acting stand-in vice-captain, no matter how true that was in reality.
The Black Bulls blankly looked at the three, both stunned and debating the offer. When it came to the Captain, decisions made regarding him were made in a group, with everyone needing to be on board. So- with that, Vanessa spoke up first as usual.
“Ooo really? You want to set up our dear Captain with yours? Quite the bold mission, will probably be hard to accomplish” Vanessa said, putting her empty wine bottle down before looking at the other for a brief moment, before turning to Finral, who just stood there mouth agape.
“..Does he already have a partner?” Letoile asked, feeling the tension in the room, besides it was a question that needed to be asked.
“...Hm not sure, I know Captain Charlotte was eyeing him but I'm not sure if that's going anywhere…” Vanessa answered, trying to look through her mind to see if there was ever a hint of Yami with anyone romantically. But soon coming to the conclusion that he was a bit too dense to see a person's love for him or too disinterested in anyone to actually pursue a relationship.
Magna grumbled something before speaking his mind “So Ya think your grubby Captain is good enough for our Boss yea!!??!!?!” he said, getting in David's face specifically, who just smiled awkwardly back.
“Yeah, Captain Yami deserves someone strong willed and ready to live with his awesomeness and bathroom breaks!” Asta says, trying to add on.
“He needs to be able to take me on in a fight!!!” Luck says, enthusiastically.
“Marie needs to approve of him...” Gauche says, staring at a wood carving or Marie, the third one made this week.
“He needs to know how to eat!!!”
“And have a drink with me!”
“B-Be confident j-just like C-captain Y-Yami..”
“Mumble mumble friends mumble mumble”
“Soommeeooneee….. Nniiiceee….” Henry’s voice spoke up like an echo throughout the base.
“As long as I don't have to knock him down a few pegs.” Zora said, entering the base after getting done with his errands in the capital.
“He should also know not to look down on others.” Noelle said, speaking up.
“And most of all” Finral said, walking in front of them to stand with the other Black Bulls. “He needs to be ready to accept our weird family, with all our flaws and qualities!” Feeling more confident to fight for their Captain's potential future.
The three Golden Dawn members looked at them amazed by their love for their Captain's wellbeing and love life. Also mentally checking off or noting down any requirement that needed to be met by the Black Bulls.
“So.. Ya think he got what it takes?” Magna asks, as Yami's right hand man, he will take charge of this.
The three exchanged glances, all coming to the same conclusion. “Yeah. Well make sure of it!” David responded first, sounding determined to gain the Bulls approval.
“Good!.....Who's the guy anyway?..” Magna asked, the other giving him confused looks, filled with amusement and genuine concern. Having expected Magna to know at least that much!
“Uhm…our Captain?” David responded.
“Yeah yeah but who is that?”
“Eh?? Magna you really don't know?” Finral questioned, not believing that even Magna did not who the Captains of the Clover Kingdom were.
“What? Is he some sort of big shot??”
“Uhm Magna sir, he's the guy that wears that weird looking mask? With feathers?” Asta politely explained, having met the Captain multiple times, for both magic knight reasons and from just visiting Yuno at the Golden Dawn base.
“EHHH??? YOU MEAN THAT POPULAR GOLDY GUY, YAMI SOMETIMES MENTIONS????” Magna asked, surprised and feeling a little stupid for not realising.
“Captain Yami talks about him?” Letolie asked, immediately jumping on what Magna said.
“Eh? Oh yeah, like stories of old times and drinking hangouts…” Magna said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Wait, you wanna set him up with that guy ?! Well why didn't you say so!! I totally approve of that guy! Yami always seems happy to talk about him!” Magna said, finally piecing it together. Grabbing David by his robe and dragging him to sit with them, on the couch to discuss the plan.
Letoile joined them and sat by Vanessa, who cleared the empty wine bottles away. Yuno and Asta took a seat next to each other on the opposite side.
“Great, let's get started, I have a bunch of ideas!!” Vanessa said. She's been waiting for an opportunity like this to arise for a while now. Having come up with many scenarios and date ideas, sometimes imagining putting whatever poor girl or guy Yami was into, through tests to see if she was worthy.
But the tests can wait… For now at least…
