Chapter Text
William, Vyncent, Dakota, and Ashe had just finished a fight with a villain and returned to the 3rd official Prime Defenders Base. This villain had put up quite the fight and everyone's a little bloody and bruised and everyone is pretty tired. The same old smell of Beef Stroganoff filling the building. It never seems to get old to anyone.
”Will, Vyncent, Dakota, Ashe, are you home?”
Tide’s voice fills the main room of the base from the next room over.
”Yeah, we are Tide. Can we get some first aid? Nothing serious, just the normal stuff.”
William replies, shouting loud enough for Tide to hear.
“Oh, of course! Give me one moment!”
Tide shouts back. It’s silent for a moment before Tide steps out from the kitchen holding a first aid kit. As this is happening, Ashe has been removing a few layers from their costume.
”I have no idea why they chose to give me so many layers. It’s hot as hell!”
Ashe complains, fanning their face with their hand.
“I understand that feeling so much.”
Vyncent says, removing his gloves.
”Thanks, Tide! He really fucked up my hand.”
Dakota says, staring at his hand covered in scratches and scrapes as Tide is wrapping it up.
”I can tell! That must’ve been quite the fight!”
Tide says, looking up not Dakota’s eyes for a moment before looking back down at Dakota’s hand. Meanwhile, William had walked into his room, changed out of his costume, walked out of his room, and started to work on his own cuts and scrapes with Vyncent and Ashe.
”Fucking fun though!”
Dakota says, smiling with his same high energy.
After everyone had fixed themselves up and changed into their civilian clothes, everyone walked into the kitchen and Tide dished up 4 bowls of the Beef Stroganoff.
”Thanks for helping us out and the food, Tide.”
Vyncent says, holding his bowl of Beef Stroganoff and walking next to his father figure who’s got a spoon on the pot to the dining table.
”Of course! Even though you aren’t my responsibility anymore, it doesn't mean I won't help you guys if needed!”
Tide replies as they both sit at the table with Ashe and William who were already at the table.
“So, how was everything while we were gone?”
Ashe asks as they hold up their spoon that's full of the same old Stroganoff.
”Everything was fine! Nothing happened. It was actually pretty boring.”
Tide answers, through bites. He continues.
”How's the new book treating you?”
”It’s basically the exact same as the old one!”
Ashe says, perking up a little, happily.
”Remind me how you got the book again? I’m sorry, I just keep forgetting.”
Vyncent says, a little confused.
”now that Ms. G is able to use her magic at the same level she could before the planet and she learned about what my abilities were, AKA the book, she decided to try and recreate it and somehow, she got it almost exactly the same as the last one. I have no idea how she was able to get it almost the same when she’s never read it, let alone in the same language the old book had but, it’s really fucking cool!”
Ashe says, smiling really happily as they explain. Vyncent listens, carefully and very clearly making a note to himself. Dakota, as Ashe Explains is smiling really wide and tears are practically falling out of his eyes.
”That is why I love that woman so much.”
Dakota says, choking up.
”fanboy”
William mumbles quietly, just above a whisper
”what the fuck did you just call me!?”
Dakota says, emotion switching on a dime to a playful anger and standing up suddenly, sending the chair flying back a few feet.
“Nothing!”
William says, putting his hands up and giggling while looking at Dakota.
“No, you said something, what did you say?’
Dakota says, voice rising in, again, a playful anger.
”I said nothing!”
William says, giggling increasing as he stands up to meet Dakota’s height.
They both go back and forth with Dakota insisting William tell him what he called him and William insisting he didn’t say anything. As they are going back and forth, Ashe and Vyncent are laughing their asses off and Tide is just looking in between Dakota and William, confused. This goes on for like, 5 goddamn minutes.
after Ashe and Vyncent get their partners to stop arguing, they all agree to hang out in the Bases’s living room playing video games and just talking about the most random shit ever while Tide is keeping track of if another argument breaks out -just in case.
After what feels like minutes, the sun has fully set. Tide, who was cleaning up the group’s costumes, takes notice that it’s currently 11:46 P.M. and walks into the living room again.
”Hey guys, it’s almost midnight. I understand you guys are insomniacs but sleep is
still very important, so how about you guys head up to bed?”
Tides says, yawning.
Everyone agrees, says goodnight to each other, and walks into each of their rooms and gets ready for bed.
William takes off his hoodie, puts on comfortable pants, turns on his headphones and puts on some music so it’s easier for him to fall asleep.
Dakota removes his bandana from his arm, changes into the official Ms. G Pajama shirt, and scrolls on his phone for 30 minutes so he feels tired enough to fall asleep.
Vyncent changes his clothes, walks into his bathroom, puts on a small amount of skincare, lets his long-ish hair out of its ponytail, and gets into bed.
(Author's note: you can’t tell me Vyncent doesn’t at the LEAST put on lotion. Idk why, but he seems like that kind of thing.)
Ashe takes off their magenta jacket, throws on their headphones, starts listening to their music, changes into more comfortable clothes, and just waits for their mind to fall asleep with the new book in their lap.
Everyone’s fast asleep. Dakota, Thankfully, doesn’t have any dreams of the girl on the roof and William doesn’t feel like there’s going to be another message from the Whisperer about “The PaTh Is YoUr owN but You must WalK iT.” Everyone’s sleeping well, getting rest, and healing a little from the past day’s fight with the villain. And that’s good! It’s a good thing that they're getting these benefits and that everything’s going smoothly!
Unfortunately, I spoke a little too soon. Everything *was* going smoothly. Everything *was* going well. But that was before William was awakened to the sound of a voice. A gentle voice. A soft voice.
”Hello? Are you four alright?”
