“At least it’s not cold?” Yujin says with a shrug.
It’s true. It’s still summer so the weather is not remotely even cold, thus Zhang Hao knows that he should be happy about that. The last time he had to be awake for a pre-recording it was ass o’clock in the morning and he was freezing, today he’s just awake at ass o’clock in the morning but he’s at least not bundled up.
They’re back to waiting to be let inside the building for the pre-recording of ZEROBASEONE’s comeback performance. There’s a lot of fans surrounding them, but they have mostly left Hao alone except for some fans asking for a few photos. He’s honestly shocked that fans are interested in taking pictures with him when he’s nothing compared to the shining boys they’re about to see.
“How did you even manage to get your parents to agree to let you out tonight?” Hao asks, suddenly curious. He had told Yujin yesterday that he had gotten in to the pre-recording and was shocked when Yujin responded in the affirmative too. “Don’t you have a quiz scheduled for this morning?”
Yujin snorts through his face mask. “I’m allowed to come here in the guise of research,” he replies as if that’s answer enough.
“You’re attending an idol pre-recording as… research to… become an idol?” Hao questions with a raised eyebrow. “Never heard that excuse before.”
Shrugging, Yujin doesn’t expound on his explanation. Instead he changes topic, “So… does he know we’re here today?” he asks.
It’s a good question. Smirking, Hao shakes his head. It’s why he applied through the official channels rather than use his… connections.
“Oh!” Then Yujin asks mischievously, “Who are you cheering on today?”
Hao smiles as he takes out his sign.
Yujin barks out a laugh before slapping both of his hands on his mouth to stop himself. From the corner of his eye Hao could see that some people looked at them, but none of them seemed to be doing so out of malice. Hao’s not out of touch with reality, he knows that at some point this will end up in the internet.
“Oh hyung… this is going to be so fun!” Yujin announces.
With the comeback preparation along with the concert preparation, Hanbin has become too busy to have time to sneak out and see Hao hyung. They’ve been flying in and out of the country for performances too. He’s even become too busy to actually eat properly, but that’s neither here nor there.
“Are you staring at your phone hoping Hao hyung will message you?” Matthew pipes up out of nowhere, startling Hanbin too well that he almost dropped his phone.
“Seok Mae!” Hanbin hisses, clutching his phone close to his chest. “Stop appearing out of nowhere!”
“Hao hyung would be asleep right about now. Doesn’t he have morning classes?” Matthew asks. “And shouldn’t you be over there making sure that Gyuvin and Ricky hasn’t started fighting?”
At the mere mention of their names, Gyuvin and Ricky had immediately started protesting. Hanbin is happy to note that they were both bent over Ricky’s phone, scrolling, which meant they were too busy to fight each other.
“I just miss him…” Hanbin bites his lip. It’s too early for Hao hyung to be awake so no matter how much Hanbin glares at his phone, he knows he won’t magically make a message appear. Hao hyung had already texted him before bed with thesweetest good luck message about their pre-recording that Hanbin had responded to with a lot of hearts. “We haven’t seen each other in weeks.”
“You’re busy and Hao hyung knows that,” Matthew tells him.
“Hao hyung has been the absolute most supportive boyfriend ever,” Hanbin feels the need to defend, “It’s me. I’m the problem. I miss touching him—not like that! I mean just to be able to hold his hand or wrap him in an embrace…”
Their conversation is cut short because one of the PD-nims carrying a board calls out for them to come out to the stage. So Hanbin and Matthew make their way with the group and walked together out the waiting room.
Missing his boyfriend will have to wait. Hanbin is about to face the other love of his life: performing.

20240829 pre-rec i didn’t mention any names earlier in case it was a surprise and im happy i didnt bec it was indeed a surprise! GLO is standing in the middle and he was trying to stand a couple of rows back but everyone pushed him to the front

20240829 SHB’s mouth dropped open as soon as he spotted GLO in the audience bec KJW and PGW had to drag him to his assigned spot in the middle. as soon as he recovered he looked so HAPPY the cheek whiskers are out in full force

20240829 but then SHB must have seen what sign GLO brought (i saw a glimpse earlier and it said ‘GV+RK heart please!’) bec the next thing we know SHB is pouting and shimkongz were sending a heart his way
