Chapter Text
There is tell of a family.
One that resides in an inconsequential little kingdom, in a tiny little town, where the most exciting thing to happen all year is the birth of a pair of twins among the their flock of sheep. Where most people care little for ambition and have greater concern for securing the village food supply over winter. In this tiny where this significant family resides the residents, unlike many other towns of this nature, have very little fear of the things of the magical like.
For you see they are special. They have had the experience of being in close contact with magic for generations. Since the founding of their tiny village. The magic of said family we discuss. This magical gift has been the open secret of this village for a very long time. They werent really hiding their gift, they all just no longer saw it's magnificence. Having been desensitized to something so magical. It was meerly a part of their every day lives. The same could be said for the family in question.
The gift they had showing only in one memeber every egebration. Sometimes even skipping a generation should the skill never be cultivated. Which is why the great love of art has always been an encouraged pass time of children of this family. For if the gift shows itself regular extra income might come from it.
You see when a gifted du lac gives shape to their art, usually in drawing or painting form, they give life to it. Not lifitng it from the page per say but adding what they call 'impressions' into it.
To make the sensations associated with the painting felt by its on lookers. If one it to paint a sea side they might feel the breeze ushered in from the horizon, taste the saltiness in the air, squint their eyes at the assault of the sunset, hear the squawk of the sea gulls, or even feel the peril of the arts who stood at the edge of a cliff side and looked down at the dealt drop while painting.
Most of the gifted in the du lac family can only impart one or two impressions into a single painting at a time. The truly gifted might be able to add three or four. Louis de Pointe du Lac may very well have the strongest gift known to his family with his ability to impart as many impressions as his bleeding heart desires.
It is that ability that would secure his family's well being and himself a lover.
