Well, that's not true really. Darla asked him to be here.
Why he's listening to an old friend from high school is beyond him. It's been years; things have changed. He hasn't even seen Bernard since graduation.
He sips weak, artisanal Parisian coffee, and tries to take in the view. This is one of East Paris' worse neighbourhoods, and if he focuses just right, he can smell piss and hear screaming.
It reminds him of home.
He doesn't have to be here. Not really. Darla's dead. He can leave.
But he promised her, three years and a lifetime ago, that when he left Gotham, he'd come right back with his tail between his legs.
