“Shouto,” Katsuki says after quite a few moments of heavy silence, in a tone that sounds gentle but measured. His eyes are narrowed in suspicion of something Shouto can’t hope to even guess. “Repeat back to me what I just said.”
“You want me to be more for you,” Shouto answers easily. “I promise, I can do it.”
He’s not above begging. He’ll do what’s necessary.
Katsuki huffs air out of his nose. The sound feels like a knife right between Shouto’s ribs, and red-hot shame rises to his cheeks. He stays quiet regardless.
“Sometimes I wonder what the fuck goes on behind that thick skull of yours,” he says, and he almost sounds fond. Shouto doesn’t let himself dwell on it. He keeps quiet.
“I said I want more than what we have now,” Katsuki continues slowly. “I meant it like I want a relationship with you. With like, dates and stuff.”
The room is dead silent. Shouto’s last finger gives out, and his body freezes where it is – not falling, just suspended in midair, wire above, the depths below.
“No you don’t.”
Katsuki’s gaze turns steely.
“Yes I do."
Katsuki likes sex. Katsuki likes his independence. Katsuki likes alone time, space.
Shouto shakes his head. “You don’t want that. I’m sure of it.”
The muscles in Katsuki's neck and jaw move in the morning shadows. “They’re my feelings, Shou. Calling me a liar is a quick way to piss me off.”
Shit.
“I don’t think you’re lying. I just— I know what you like.”
Katsuki likes control. Katsuki likes winning. Katsuki likes sex, kissing, spending time together, movie nights, hugs from behind—
“I like you, you fucking jackass.”
