Chapter Text
It all happened so quickly. From you leaving to get to your shitty reception job to you ending up in chains in the dungeons of a castle all seemed too insane to be real, but going off the pain you were feeling from these restraints it was all definitely real.
The only other thing that cemented it more was the sound of a laugh coming from the halls outside your cell that you had only ever heard from the comfort of your living room couch.
“Fufufufu!”
***
Tuesday morning started just like any other. At the moment you were waiting for your coffee from the local chain coffee place before you were going to head to work. They didn’t need you at the reception desk for another 20 minutes and from the looks of the pile of cups with order stickers that sat empty it looked like you’d be here for the whole 20 minutes.
Oh well, better than having to listen to your boss talk about his very exciting golf game over the weekend while you got ready for the day.
It wasn’t the best job in the world, often having rude customers complain to you about things you had no control over or some of the older salesmen saying borderline sexual harassment type comments about your outfits, but the older women in the administration department always had your back and often invited you out on their movie nights.
Being the youngest person in the office meant no one really had the same interests as you, but that didn’t really matter. That’s what online friends were for.
You started to think about the plans your friends had made for that night. They wanted to start up a new Minecraft server after the last one accidentally blew up when a bunch of creepers followed you and everyone’s houses were destroyed. Whoops!
Being too distracted while looking at your phone you didn’t notice the commotion outside until it was too late.
A car had crashed through the big windows of the coffee shop, headed right in your direction. It was all too quick and too loud for you to even try to get yourself out of the way, ending up crushed underneath the vehicle…or so you assumed.
Since the next thing you know you are surrounded by water, panicking as you try to orient yourself to which way the surface was. Following the look of the sun light streaming in through the water.
It seemed like you were in a rather large pool, the water was crystal clear but it didn’t have the sting you were used to from the ocean since your eyes were open. The ornate tile you saw as you felt along the walls only confirmed this.
Breaking through the surface of the water you gasped as you tried to catch your breath, starting to cough as oxygen was filling your lungs once more. The sun was bright, causing you to squint your eyes making it more difficult to see your surroundings. If only you saw the people surrounding the pool that were about to change your life.
The water alone made you know that something wasn’t right, from the best of your knowledge there weren’t any pools nearby your office and if there were they definitely weren’t outside. Come to think of it, it was actually a pretty crummy day in terms of weather on your way to work, but wherever you were now had bright sunny skies.
“Dellinger, bring them here.”
Dellinger? Why was that name so familiar?
You didn’t get long to think about it when you felt a small but rather strong arm wrap around your neck and pull you quickly across the pool, causing you to cough violently once more when you reached the other end of the pool and were yanked out of the water.
You wanted to shout, anything about asking where you were, what just happened or why that person had to drag you by your neck through the pool?! Seriously who does that?! All of that quickly left you as your eyes went wide as you took in the person in front of you.
There on a large sun bed was an impossibly large man in bright pink patterned pants, no shirt and giant pink feathered jacket draped across the back of his seat. With his short blonde hair that practically glowed in the sun, the reflection of his oddly shaped sunglasses and his wide menacing smile you knew exactly who sat in front of you…even if you couldn’t believe it in the moment.
“D-d-doflamingo?!”
“Fufufufu! So the fallen angel knows who I am, I’m flattered.”
“Wha- what’s going on?! Where am I?!”
You would have thought that you were at some messed up anime convention but you didn’t know of any that were happening in your city at the moment and there was no way a cosplayer could portray the stature of the massive man in front of you. Last you checked that the tallest person in the world wasn’t even 10 ft tall or in your city for that matter.
“So many questions for someone who fell into my home. Here, come closer little one.”
Doflamingo curled his finger in a come hither motion. You would have stepped forward if you weren’t so utterly terrified and confused, but even the second of contemplation was too long for the warlord. You felt as if what you could only assume were his strings wrapped around your limbs and pulled you close until you stood close enough that if he moved his legs slightly he would be touching you.
“You’re a cute little thing, now be good and answer my questions and I might let you live.”
Your eyes wide as you gulped, you had no idea what he could want to know or if you could even answer him in a way that he wouldn’t just kill you on the spot.
“Let’s start with something easy shall we, what’s your name sweetheart?”
“It- it’s F/N L/N…”
You’re not sure why you felt compelled to give your full name, maybe you felt that if you were as truthful as possible he would let you go. In your nervous state you hadn’t noticed but his strings were slowly pulling you closer to him while also constraining you to be wherever he pleased.
“Good, now where did you come from fallen angel? Last time I checked there were no islands in the sky above my city.”
“Um, no I’m not from a sky island…but I don’t think you’ll believe me if I…”
You froze in the moment, it was only then you realized how many pairs of eyes were on you. There were some people you recognized from the anime, though it was weird to see them mingling around in front of you, and there were (what you assumed to be) Doflamingo's lackeys as well watching you from a distance even though they were probably supposed to be working.
“Young master I think she may be overwhelmed with all this attention, why don’t you bring her somewhere less public? It might make it easier for her to speak.”
A woman you recognized as Giolla had stepped forward to speak. You thought about thanking her but decided against it when you felt the strings around you tighten slightly. Doflamingo stood from the sun bed, his stature even more intimidating now that he was standing at his full height. As he smiled down at you before he waved at someone behind you that you couldn’t see.
“Perhaps you’re right, Giolla. Bring her down to a cell with Dellinger. She doesn’t look strong but better to be safe. I’ll come to talk to her later.”
Your arms were then pulled behind you and attached together with heavy stone cuffs. You started to panic, if Doflamingo in this world was anything like he was in the anime you knew you may be in for a very dark time. You were pulled into the castle, not strong enough to fight against the arms that were pulling you along through multiple halls until you were in a small jail cell.
All the walls made of stone except for the bars in the front. The lackey that had pulled you along attached your cuffs to a longer chain attached to the back wall, giving you only enough room to move around the cell and no farther. Giolla sat in a chair with a book where she could still see you after she decided to take first watch shift and sent Delligner back up to the pool.
With nothing to be found in the cell besides a toilet and sink you took a seat on the cold floor and got as comfortable as you could, there was only one person who knew how long you’d be waiting for something to happen and you were pretty sure he was not someone you wanted to cross.
And yet with all that, all you could think was that this was all happening because you wanted an overpriced coffee before work.

As soon as you were out of sight Doflamingo’s smile fell from his face, a scowl replacing it as he was deep in thought. You had given him a name but since it didn’t ring any bells he knew that he couldn’t trust it until he had his men look into you to see if you were telling the truth. Since he was still standing, he grabbed his coat from the back of the chair and made his way inside.
“What are you thinking, Doffy?”
Trebol followed behind Doflamingo as the two walked through the palace towards the throne room.
“I’m not sure, but it’s not everyday someone literally falls right into our grasp. I’ll see what she knows and if she happens to not know anything useful I can at least make a new toy out of her.”
“We could always use another toy slave in the port, I’ll be sure Sugar is ready whenever you need her.”
With his smile back on his face Doflamingo turned towards Trebol, stopping his steps as they had finally reached the throne room doors.
“Not that kind of toy Trebol.”
“Behehehehe!”
