Edwin pushed himself to sit up, shifting his torso to take in Charles’ appearance in the moonlight that illuminated the room through the mostly closed curtains. “You know, you are a miserable liar Charles.” Edwin spoke in a knowing, dry tone, almost sounding parental. They had known each other for far too long to be able to lie behind false smiles or words. The statement, while sounding cutting, came from a place of abject love and care. It had been them against Hell for as long as either of them could remember. Side by side in cages, talking in the times they were left alone about anything and everything that came to mind. Charles knew Edwin was so bright, it came as a part of his ability, but the curly haired boy was almost sure he would have been brilliant without it given how tenacious he is. A long winded sigh escaped Charles, looking like a slowly deflating balloon as he did so. Without another word he leaned against Edwin’s side, resting his head on the brunet’s shoulder.
”Didn’t want to remind you of it, Eds…” He mumbled, the two had been speaking in hushed tones to keep from waking Monty who slept on the other side of the room.
