Work Text:

it was loud on coruscant, even more so on the lower levels of the planet.

the team of partisans that bode found himself part of enjoyed partying, and it was easier to get away with being a recognisable jedi in a cantina located in one of the seediest parts of the city. they weren’t due to enact their plan until the next day—the jedi would go out to the black market and hide himself unconvincingly, and the rest of the team would be in their bounty hunter outfits ready to jump him and take him to the senator.

in bode’s opinion, it was a solid plan, one that they had been working on for a while (one that bode had added to when saw had placed him on the team with kestis, one that was going to work). they had been setting it up for a couple months now, bode having gone in deep cover to get information on how the markets worked on the planet in the time of the empire, and when he had gotten back, he had been welcomed with open arms—a concept that he still wasn’t used to lately, but one he appreciated.

it made the guilt that was crawling up his throat just a little worth it.

the past couple months had consisted of staring at the jedi from the sidelines, offering his own thoughts during meetings but never taking control the way kestis seemed to be comfortable with. he was young but had been working with the partisans for long enough that the team, full of beings older than him, trusted him to make the right decisions. not only that, but he was sweet, and he always flushed so prettily whenever bode made any sort of flirtatious remarks around him.

however, that night, it seemed as though the jedi—cal, he had to keep reminding himself since they were supposed to be friendly with each other—existed only to make bode’s life more difficult (and his pants tighter). the team had mentioned going out for once, and they had badgered and poked until cal had laughed in agreement, deciding they needed this before they were to get off of coruscant to meet back up with the other partisans.

cal stood out in any room he stepped into—it was hard for him not to, with those gorgeous green eyes and fiery orange hair. for their night on the town, he had allowed gabs to get ahold of him because there was black kohl smudged around his eyes, making those eyes brighter than they had any reason being. usually pulled back in a messy bun, cal’s copper hair hung in waves down to the tops of his shoulders, shiny underneath the colourful lights of the cantina. he hadn’t even dressed too differently from how he normally did, a worn cream shirt with rolled up sleeves and form-fitting brown pants that were flexible enough for him to move around in—except the blue vest he wore was nowhere to be found, and bode couldn’t keep his gaze off of freckled collarbones that were visible with the top buttons of his shirt left open.

sometimes bode would give into those urges when it came to his marks—he had a job to do after all, and people opened themselves up more to someone they’ve shared intimacy with. each and every time ended with bode sending that final message to denvik, letting him know that the mark was ready to tell him everything, but this was different.

cal was young, almost too young, and it made bode feel like he was a lecherous old man as his brown eyes raked over cal’s body, taking in the way he was almost subconsciously swaying his body to the music playing in the cantina. the stubble on the jedi’s face made him look older, but bode had looked extensively at the folder of information given to him by saw when he had joined the team—cal was barely twenty years old, and before the purge he had been a padawan, and before that a youngling. he didn’t have much experience if any in his twenty years of life, and it was almost disgusting how much bode wanted to guide him through receiving nothing but sheer pleasure.

at the same time...cal had responded to the flirting with a light pink flush on his cheeks, a shy smile playing on his full lips that had bode’s cock twitching in interest every single time. lately, he had even tried flirting back—it wasn’t good flirting, the kid was only twenty years old, but it was enough to have bode seriously considering throwing away his morals to simply get his hands on the jedi. all too often they were left to their own devices on the mantis, cal bent over the holotable staring at the map with a furrow in his brow, and bode let himself think about placing both hands on cal’s hips, holding him still as he pressed his clothed hard-on into cal’s ass, whispering lowly in his ear about how he was done playing games and they should retire to the engine room without bd-1 so bode could show him a good time—

and every single time, he had to excuse himself to the ‘fresher to shove a hand down his pants, sometimes not even being patient enough to pull his cock out before he was cumming hard into his hand with thoughts of cal whining his name whirling around in his head faster than they should.

maybe there was a little bit of guilt about the fact that he was a fake person to the team, pretending to be someone who supported their cause when he was saving all of the information they gave him to pass on to the isb. he could feel the cruel hands of his own fate wrapping tightly around his neck every time he noticed the way cal’s eyes got sad whenever the others talked about the families they had waiting at home for them, the people they had to leave behind with every mission they were put on. sometimes bode even entertained the idea that he could tell cal about his own past as a jedi, divulging every detail he remembered of the order and his training so cal could get stronger.

the song ended and flowed seamlessly into something that was a little heavier, something that struck a match and held it alit against the simmering in bode’s veins, and his eyes swept over the crowd before they landed on cal. cal, who was holding a half-empty bottle of something in his fingers loosely, his eyes half open as he moved along to the music playing. as though he could feel the weight of bode’s gaze on him, cal locked eyes with bode, and his lips curled up into a smile before he motioned with his empty hand for bode to come closer.

bode was helpless to say no to a man who looked like that no matter how young that man was, and so he stood up from his stool and emptied the rest of his glass before leaving it on the bartop, making his way through the crowd to make it to the jedi. even though most of the beings around them were bode’s height, it wasn’t hard for him to find cal in the crowd, unable to admit just how drawn he was to his bright presence in the force.

“having a good time, scrapper?” bode asked with what he was sure was an easygoing smile on his face, and cal nodded before reaching out for him with a hand.

“the others all disappeared, and i want to dance,” cal said, his eyes wide as he gazed up at bode, and the older man swallowed. his bottom lip was sticking out in a slight pout and pupils wider than normal, two easy signs to tell that cal was definitely creeping closer to drunk than tipsy, but he was steady on his feet, not a single tremor running through his hand. bode shouldn’t encourage him, shouldn’t take the hand that was offered to him—he should be gently turning cal down, close to twice his age already with silver at his temples and a daughter that was closer to cal’s age than he himself was.

instead of trying to reason with himself, bode shoved all those feelings down under his force shields (he’d release those feelings into the force when he was alone, just like his master had taught him as a padawan), and he took the hand offered to him. cal’s grin was sunny in the darkness of the cantina, and bode wanted to lean closer to kiss it off of his features, wanted to lick into his mouth and make him beg for something bode knew he shouldn’t be giving him.

“do you even know how to dance?” bode raised an eyebrow as he threaded his fingers through cal’s, pulling the jedi closer so they didn’t have to shout over the gravelly sounds of the agasar playing on the jukebox, and cal shook his head as he stumbled the few steps forward into bode’s chest. the older man grunted softly at the impact, his other hand coming up in reflex to hold cal’s waist, and his fingers curled tightly as he realised just how small cal was in his arms.

“no, but you should teach me.” cal spoke in between sips of his drink, and soon the bottle was empty and hanging from his fingers casually. bode licked his lips before he could think too hard about it and slipped his hand out of cal’s, humming to himself. there would be no going back from this, but bode could at least control how much he gave of himself to this kid in his arms.

“just follow my lead,” bode said before using his grip on cal’s waist to turn him around, pulling the younger man into his chest. their height difference wasn’t the most significant, not like his had been with tayala, but cal still felt so small in bode’s arms, his head easily falling back against bode’s shoulder as the older man’s chest plastered itself to his back.

cal’s waist looked tiny in bode’s hold, and the older man used his grip to move cal’s hips along with his, resisting the urge to slip his hands up cal’s shirt to feel his skin, to thumb at his nipples and feel cal whimpering against the side of his face. the song sent static tingles dancing over his skin as he touched the jedi, controlling the pace in which they moved together, and there was a shaky exhale of breath against his ear before a hand came up to hold the back of his neck.

bode’s eyes snapped to cal’s as fingers tangled into the hair as the nape of his neck, and pale green eyes met his with a sparkle in them that was more mischief than it was the lighting in the cantina. it shouldn’t have surprised bode that cal had come up with an excuse to get him up and dancing, since gabs hadn’t seemed excited enough for this to be cal’s first time out for a night on the city, but it still had his eyes widening before a smirk overtook his features. he let his tongue dart out to wet his bottom lip before watching as cal unconsciously mimicked the action, and bode leaned down to press an open mouthed kiss just underneath cal’s ear.

the song changed again but still kept the tension in the air heavy, and bode used this moment to let his fingers tug at the hem of cal’s shirt, slipping his left hand up to splay across his abdomen. the jedi never showed any skin and so bode was surprised at the feeling of tight muscles under his fingertips, and he thought about leaning down to trace those lines of muscle with his tongue—instead, bode scraped his blunt fingernails against the smooth skin resting just above cal’s waistband, enjoying the feeling of soft hair brushing his knuckles, and a soft mewl floated into his ear from the jedi in his arms.

“i could just do it, you know,” bode remarked in a voice that was surprisingly hoarse, his nose pressed to cal’s temple as he spoke into the jedi’s ear. he let his fingertips dip underneath cal’s waistband before that same hand made its way up to his chest over the tight cream shirt. “i could just slip my hands down your pants now, end this game of us dancing around each other and wrap my fingers around your pretty cock until you’re cumming in your pants for me.”

cal’s moan was just as hoarse as bode’s voice had been, and it wasn’t at all a shock for bode when he looked down and saw the way the younger man had chubbed up in his pants. even in the less than ideal lighting of the cantina, bode could see the contours of cal’s clothed length, and his lips parted against cal’s temple before his head was tilting back down to press another open-mouthed kiss to his skin—this time against his quickening pulse point, a spot that had the ginger shuddering up against him.

“then why don’t you?” it was a soft-spoken question, but bode’s ears were already in tune with everything that came out of cal’s mouth, and he sighed softly before the hand that had slid up cal’s chest moved back down. his fingers tightened around cal’s hip, and bode’s eyes fell shut for a moment as he felt the weight of his own guilt resting like a heavy burden atop his shoulders.

“i’m not a good man, scrapper,” bode whispered against cal’s neck, clutching onto the jedi as though bode was adrift among the stars and cal was his tether back to safety. “i’ve done a lot of bad in my life, and you deserve—well, something that’s better than the ghosts clinging onto my jetpack.”

the music shifted around them once again, a steady beat accompanied with a more mellow techno melody, but the two of them didn’t move for a long moment. bode was ready to pull away from cal before the body in his arms was shifting, and he lifted his chin just in time to catch cal’s pale green gaze. one of the jedi’s hands (the gloved one, though bode had no idea why he always went out with it on) still clung onto the empty bottle, but the other came up to caress his cheek, and bode’s chest tightened at the gentleness he was being shown. cal’s eyes clouded over for a moment before a small smile spread over those pink lips.

“why don’t you let me be the judge of that?” the copper-haired man asked, a question that bode felt more than heard, and it felt as though time stopped around them as they simply gazed at each other. bode was trapped as cal’s thumb smoothed over his cheekbone, soft and innocent, and he could only close his eyes as the jedi leaned closer to brush their lips together. it wasn’t a real kiss, just a ghost of one, but the fleeting feeling of cal’s mouth on his set bode’s blood on fire, and he was helpless to the flame consuming him as he pressed forward to trap cal’s bottom lip between his teeth.

cal let out what bode could only describe a mewl as he sucked on his lip, tongue darting out to lick away any lingering sting. it seemed as though cal didn’t care if there was any pain or not, because the hand on bode’s cheek slid back to grip onto the back of his hair, and cal’s other arm draped over bode’s broad shoulder as their bodies pressed together. bode couldn’t hear any noises coming from cal over the volume of the music, but he could feel each one of them against his mouth as they fell into a slow desperation of a kiss. the older man nudged cal’s thighs apart just enough for him to press his own up against his clothed hardness, and the jedi gasped before parting his lips just in time for bode’s tongue to slide in and taste him.

the first taste of cal’s mouth on his tongue had bode letting out a moan of his own, and his hands shifted until his arms were winding around cal’s waist, embracing him completely as he took his time to devour cal. the jedi was trembling ever so slightly in his hold, his breathing shaky and almost unsure where it was hitting against bode’s cheek—bode wanted to make him writhe underneath him in pleasure, wanted to know every single noise of pleasure that cal could let out.

that final thought was what made bode break the kiss with a last lick into cal’s mouth, and he let his eyes take in the sight of what an aroused cal kestis looked like before his arms were slipping away. it almost physically hurt for bode to take half a step out of cal’s personal space, wanting to continue his orbit around the sun that was this young jedi, but this was one heart he couldn’t bring himself to break.

“you have no idea how much i want this, cal, how much i want you.” bode caught cal’s ungloved hand in his own, glad he hadn’t worn any gloves of his own out to the cantina even though he hated how sticky they always were. he kept his gaze locked with cal’s as he brought that hand up to his face, kissing his knuckles and rubbing his nose against his soft skin. “and that’s precisely why i can’t have you.”

“i wish i could say that i understand,” cal said, tearing his eyes away as his head turned to the side. bode wasn’t sure if he wanted to hear what came next, if anything else was to be said between the two of them, so he made the decision for cal—he reached out to pluck the empty bottle of alcohol out of cal’s fingers before stepping completely away, the bubble they had been encased in popping as the sounds and sights of the people around them sped back up into real time.

“i wish i could tell you why.” the older man cleared his throat before taking another step back, this time pivoting, and he kept his gaze on cal’s form for as long as he could before fully turning to go back to the bar. the empty bottle found a place on a corner countertop of the bar as bode made his way through the crowd to step outside, fingers twitching with the sudden urge to ask someone for a death stick.

instead, he pulled out a communicator and turned it on, letting out a long breath as his shoulders felt heavy once more. he had a message to send.
