Chapter 1: He Fell First, He Fell Harder

Chapter Text

Jungkook was an omega that fell for the campus prince.

Kim Taehyung, the conglomerate heir of the Daegu Kim Industries, was the most wanted alpha in SNU, and Jungkook was just one of the sheep in the crowd.

Jungkook fell hard for the alpha. In his second year of veterinary medicine, he was giggling at something Hoseok had said on their way to classes when he caught his first glimpse of the infamous alpha. Kil Taehyung was breathtaking, long legs, piercing eyes, and a smile that had stolen the hearts of many.

“ - Min Ho’s face was so funny -“

Jungkook froze, his eyes stuck on the man laughing a few metres away. His heart clenched as he heard the throaty sound, and his omega rose up in interest at the petrichor smell wafting towards him.

Hoseok looked at him confused.

“Jungkook? What...?”

Hoseok turned to look at what had Jungkook so enraptured and snorted when he noticed it was Kim Taehyung.

“Yeah. He is hot, I’ll give you that.”

Jungkook broke out of his stupor and blushed, caught. He coughed and began walking again, trying not to stop and look back but failing tremendously. Hoseok tried not to laugh as he noticed Jungkook glancing back every few seconds, but ultimately decided to not embarrass the omega.

Jungkook and his omega had fallen in love at first sight. Fallen hard.

Hoseok of course, immediately relayed this information to their alpha best friend, Min Yoongi, who had no reservations as he began mercilessly teasing the young omega.

“Ahh, I should have known that the handsome pretty boys were your type. You always get a little tongue tied when you see Kim Seokjin flirting with the camera.”

“Hyung!” Jungkook wailed, head in his hands as the omega and alpha chuckled at him. The three of them were currently in Hoseok and Jungkook’s dorm, their respective course work scattered over the room.

“You should try and talk to him.” Hoseok suggested, idly reaching towards the snacks laid in the middle of their workload.

Jungkook gaped at him. “What? No way, I’m not talking to him.”

Yoongi rolled his eyes. “Jungkook, he’s just like any other guy. Granted, he's a popular alpha, but it can’t be that hard.”

Jungkook shook his head vehemently. “Nope. I saw him turning down an omega yesterday, there’s no way I could do that.”

“Isn’t he in Business? You should share a few classes then.” Hoseok interjected.

Jungkook nodded slowly. He was doing a major of veterinary medicine and minoring in business because he wanted to open his own clinic in the future. Come to think of it, he had heard the name Kim Taehyung in his classes, but being the bookworm he is had never cared to know much about his classmates.

“Great, take the chance to talk to him in class. Easier to make conversation.” Hoseok piped, smiling.

“Facts.” Yoongi nodded, high fiving with Hoseok. “10/10 always works.”

Jungkook bit his lips, considering the idea. It wasn’t bad, and it was technically a good way to talk to him. Maybe become friends.

“Maybe.” Jungkook said, a minute or two later.

The next day, Jungkook was the first one to arrive to the classroom. He had hardly slept from the excitement and nervousness coursing through his system. It had been a long time since he’d last had a crush, and none as handsome as Kim Taehyung. Jungkook wanted to get a closer look at him this time around, as Hoseok had interrupted his gawking last time.

It took about 10 minutes for the classroom to fill up, and Jungkook’s eyes were glued to the door. He had never been so focused on his classmates, carefully scanning every face that entered. Then a familiar face came into view; Park Jimin. Kim Taehyung’s best friend. Hoseok had given him a complete run down yesterday of the alpha and his posse, Jungkook listening intently. Jimin, his best friend, was basically his soulmate, always attached to his hip. Which worried him until Yoongi pointed out that if they were going to date, they would have done so by now, considering they had been friends since they were in diapers. Jungkook was not convinced, but it was a fair point.

Jimin was beautiful. Although short, anyone could feel the power when he walked into a room which no doubt came from being the only son of Park Constructions. He was also studying Business, and Jungkook vaguely recalled the actively engaged student in the middle row with an answer for everything. He was either the top or second best in their year.

“Jimin! Dude, take your bag! I’m not your secretary!” growled a loud voice, and in walked the person Jungkook was waiting for with baited breath.

Kim Taehyung looked even more beautiful than the last time he’d seen him. Although glaring, his face was soft and eyes a glowing brown. His hoodie was a comfortable fit around his shoulders, and Jungkook swooned.

Alpha’s hoodie. We would look so good in alpha’s hoodie.

Jungkook snapped out of his focus, blush spreading as he cursed out his omega. This was not the time, nor the place, to salivate over his newfound crush. Jungkook’s breath stopped as Taehyung’s eyes swept over the classroom, going over his own, and Jungkook hastily started pulling out his textbook to pretend he wasn’t staring. That millisecond of eye contact was enough for him. Hoseok and Yoongi would never hear the end of it.

A week later, Jungkook had seen Taehyung a grand total of 17 times. Each time his stomach was filled with butterflies, heart thumping louder as he caught the alpha smiling, or studying, his face scrunched up in frustration. Jungkook found it adorable. Hoseok found Jungkook nauseating.

Now, Jungkook was in the same Business class, head turned down, scribbling doodles into his notebook as the professor droned on. After the first few times, Jungkook could finally ignore where Taehyung and Jimin were seated (on the left side middle row) and get back to his usual classroom habits. Which were to ignore everyone.

“ - project is half of your final grade and due in 3 weeks, so I suggest starting as soon as possible.”
Jungkook tuned in, focus shifting to the professor as she explained the assignment in depth, panic settling in. 50%? He should have been listening!

“Ahh, I almost forgot. I’ve already picked your partners, and I’ll call them out now and also send out an email so there aren’t any questions.”

Jungkook blanched. How much had he missed? Partners? This was a partner assignment?

Jungkook looked around in a panic, he didn’t know anyone in this class. He should have listened to his Hyung's and made friends like they’d suggested, now he half his grade would suffer as consequence.

Professor Ri walked to her table, gathering a few pages and sifting through them.

“Ok, let’s see. Kim Jaehyuk and Han Su Min.” said duo quickly sat together, and Jungkook watched as they began introductions quietly. Hearing them made Jungkook feel better, at least he wasn’t the only one blindsided by the new change of plans.

“Oh Man Suk and Son Joon Ri, Park Jimin and Park Eun Woo.”

Jungkook internally gaped, Jimin and Park Eun Woo were both on the high end of Business students, their assignment will be amazing. Jungkook was envious.

“Kim Taehyung and Jeon Jungkook.”

All thoughts halted. Jungkook stared at his professor as she droned on, moving on after dropping an A grade Bomb on Jungkook, as if it was nothing. Kim Taehyung was his partner. Kim Taehyung. Jungkook suddenly became awfully conscious of the whispers that began circulating around the room and the few groans. Of course, everyone wanted to be partnered with Taehyung. Whispers began to soar as Taehyung got up from his seat to move to Jungkook. Jungkook heard a few words like ‘lucky’ and ‘good project’ that made him realise that people were also jealous because Taehyung was one of the best Business students, to no one’s doubt, and Jungkook was no exception either. All of his previous jealousy of Jimin and Eun Woo disappeared. Jungkook would suffer, sure, but not because of the assignment.

“Hi.” Taehyung smiled at him. Jungkook coughed, willing his omega to stay quiet.

“Um, Hi.” Jungkook said awkwardly.

Taehyung sat in the seat beside him, taking out his notebook before turning to face him once again.

“I’m Taehyung, and you can call me Taehyung or hyung, whatever you prefer.”

Jungkook’s heart was about to beat out of his chest.

“Hyung..?” He asked confusedly.

Taehyung’s eyes widened. “Oh, I assumed you were younger than me. I’m 21, by the way.”
Jungkook nodded, ignoring how his omega squealed. “Oh, I’m 19. I’m Jungkook, by the way.” Jungkook cursed at himself. That was so awkward.

Taehyung smiled at him, and Jungkook’s heart skipped another beat. “Sweet, I was right. So Jungkook, what do you want to do for the assignment?”

From there, the two began discussing how they would be doing the assessment. Jungkook slowly became more comfortable in Taehyung’s presence, mostly due to the topic of conversation remaining the assignment. The lesson ended with a clear topic in mind, and a hasty division of the workload.
“It was nice to meet you, Jungkook. We should probably keep in touch, because of the assignment and all.” Taehyung handed him his phone. “Here, this is my number and insta. You can text me wherever.”
Jungkook, shaking, quickly fed the details into his phone and held out his own in return, Taehyung’s hand brushing over his at the exchange. At this rate, Jungkook would pass out any minute.

“Bye. Let me know when you want to work on this, I think we’ve got a solid plan.” Taehyungs says as he strolls out, bag over his shoulder as he meets Jimin halfway.

Jungkook is still rooted to the stop, his nod ending as Taehyung strolled away. He had his first conversation with Taehyung. He has his number and socials.
Jungkook and his omega giggle and skip home. The day couldn’t have gone any better.

Fast forward 2 weeks, and Jungkook and Taehyung have nearly finished their assignment. Jungkook finished up with some minor edits as Taehyung waits for him, as they had planned to submit today.
Jungkook, focused on his laptop, doesn’t notice the keen eyes grazing over him.

“Jungkook?”

Jungkook hums.

Taehyung leans in, elbows on the table and long fingers drumming over the surface. “You’re doing Veterinary Medicine, right? So why are you in a business class?”

“I want to open my own clinic one day. So, I thought it would be handy to minor in business, know some shortcuts.” Jungkook says, eyes still on the screen.

Taehyung hums in understanding, eyes tracing over the youngers face.

“Thats why you’re always studying. Must be hard doing two different subjects, and I imagine veterinary medicine is a very hard discipline.”

Jungkook finally tears his eyes away from the screen and at Taehyung, nodding slightly and trying not to blush as he notices the intense gaze of the other on him.

“It is hard, but I love it. I’ve always loved animals, and I love studying the physiology.” Jungkook turns towards him, determined all of a sudden. “What about you? Have you always wanted to do business or is it a family pressure sort of thing?” Jungkook asks, and immediately regrets asking as he realises the question is personal.

Taehyung smiles at him though, so Jungkook feels a little less like an ass. “Well, its kind of both. I do like business, but I can’t deny that it’s been pushed on to me by family. It wasn’t a suggestion, and I like business, so I wasn’t really disappointed.”

Jungkook nods, trying not to fidget as Taehyung continues to stare at him.
“I know you love veterinary medicine. Are your parents vets as well?” Taehyung asks, eyes full of curiosity.

Jungkook shakes his head, laughing slightly.
“No, not at all. My parents run a Noodle shop in Busan. They wouldn’t touch any animal with a ten-foot pole.”

Taehyung laughs, and Jungkook mentally pats himself on the back for achieving that sound.
“I love noodles. I also love pets, especially dogs. I have a small Pomeranian, want to see?”

Jungkook gasps and nods eagerly, Taehyung chuckles at him and take out his phone to show him pictures.

The rest of their afternoon is filled with Jungkook cooing over Yeontan.

The assignment has been submitted, so there was no reason for Taehyung to still be talking to Jungkook. Yet he does. Every day, Jungkook wakes up to a message from Taehyung, either a picture of Yeontan, a rant complaining about classes, or a funny meme or reel that has Jungkook giggling for ages. Jungkook can hardly believe how close they’ve become, from Taehyung, to Hyung, to Taehyungie hyung. Similarly, from Jungkook to Jungkookie to Kookie. Jungkook’s heart still lurches whenever the alpha is in the vicinity, his omega still makes heart eyes and begs him to scent the alpha. But Jungkook closes his eyes and holds on tight because he has to be sure.

Today, Jungkook is sure. It’s been 3 months since they’ve started talking. Jungkook is planning on introducing his Hyungs to Taehyung today (much to Hoseok and Yoongi’s shared excitement, they have been dying to watch the cute couple interact) because Taehyung asked him yesterday to hang out with him and Jimin.

“You should also bring your Hyungs, so we can all meet up for dinner.” Taehyung had said.

(“Its like I’m meeting my future son-in-law.” Said Hoseok. Jungkook turned bright red before kicking him in the shin.)

So today is the day, all five of them sitting at a booth at a nearby restaurant after a shy round of introductions.

“Hoseok-ssi, I’ve heard you’re also studying veterinary medicine?” Taehyung asks, breaking the ice.

“Just Hoseok or Hobi is fine. And yes, I’m currently in the last year of my bachelor. Applying for doctorate next year.” Hoseok says brightly, before turning to Jimin.

“Jimin-ssi, I’ve seen you around the dance studio and I have to tell you, you’re absolutely amazing.”
Jimin blushes. “Just Jimin is fine. Thank you, that’s a huge compliment coming from the dance captain himself.”

Hoseok waves his hand. “Oh pish posh. Truly, you are wonderful. You should think about joining our squad.”

Jimin nods in agreement, promising him to consider it.

“So, Taehyung.” Yoongi says, and Jungkook turns to face him, hoping his eyes are enough of a threat to not say anything embarrassing. “I’ve heard a lot about you from our friend Jungkook near.”

“Have you?” Taehyung grins, glancing at Jungkook. “All good things I hope.”

“Yes yes. Good things. Thats why we’ve been dying to meet you, to see who has our Jungkook so hooked.” Hoseok pipes up, and Jungkook glares at him. Traitors, his friends.

“I-“

“Taehyungie is no better.” Jimin pipes up, blush gone as he wiggles his eyebrows at Jungkook. “Its always ‘Jungkookie this’ and ‘Jungkookie that’. Jungkook-ah, did you know after you submitted your assignment-“

Taehyung shoves a hand over Jimin’s mouth, a loud snap resounding around the table. “And thats enough of you. Why don’t we order? I for one, am starving.” Taehyung says quickly, sending a warning glare at Jimin before shifting through the menu. Jungkook smiles, his heart racing as he thinks about what Jimin says, his plan solidified. This is it.

After a fun and light-hearted dinner, the hyungs bid them goodnight. Yoongi offers to drop both Jimin and Hoseok home, and the three scurry off without even asking the two maknaes. But Jungkook can’t bring himself to complain. This is his chance.

Taehyung suggests they take a walk to Han river, and so they hail down a taxi and do just that. Walking, hands brushing, hearts racing. Jungkook gives himself a peptalk, closing his eyes for a second to gain some confidence. He pauses, pulling Taehyung to a stop beside him.

“Hyung, I um. I have something to tell you.”

Taehyung looks at him worriedly. Jungkook must look sick with nerves.

“What is it baby? Why are you so nervous? You know you can tell me anything.” Taehyung trails his hands up and down Jungkook’s shoulder and arms, attempting to soothe him and Jungkook’s omega immediately purrs.

Jungkook gently pulls the hands away and hold the much bigger hands in his own. “I’ve been wanting to tell you for a while now, but I kept chickening out. I’ve finally decided to just say it, so please don’t interrupt me hyung.”

Jungkook takes a deep breath, closing his eyes. Hands holding the alphas in a tight grip.

“I like you, Taehyungie hyung. I’ve liked you for ages, but I could never work up the courage to talk to you. Before, I liked you because you’re handsome and your smile is beautiful. But then, we became friends, and I realised you aren’t just pretty, but also the kindest, sweetest, best person I’ve ever met, and that just made me fall more. I know you get confessions all the time, so you’ve probably heard this before, but I don’t want to lie to you. I don’t want to stay friends whilst hiding this from you because it feels like a lie, like I’m betraying you, or our friendship. But I do like you Hyung, and if you don’t want to be friends anymore then I understand - “

“I don’t want to be friends anymore.” Taehyung interjected.

Jungkook’s eyes snapped open, staring right into the elders. He noticed his tight grip on the other and quickly loosened his hands, heart sinking, a lump forming in his throat and his omega beginning to whine and cry -

“I. Um. Ok, I’m sorry, I’ll just leave now - “ Jungkook dropped his hands from the other’s, eyes turning away as he looked for the best way to run.

Taehyung grabbed his hands forcing Jungkook to turn back. Jungkook gasped at the rapid pull, his heart further lurching as Taehyung grabbed his waist and lips met his.

Taehyung kissed him hard, wanton, wanting. He devoured his lips and Jungkook’s mind came to a complete stop. His entire being focused on the lips and tongue that were making their way into his mouth. The kiss was long, Jungkook pulling away to gasp for breath but Taehyung immediately lurching onto his neck in response, scenting him with a desire that shocked the omega.

“Hyung…?” Jungkook managed to gasp, in between the biting and rubbing on Taehyung’s mouth on his neck.

“I’m no longer your friend, Jungkook-ah.” Taehyung said, his mouth trailing kisses up his neck as he finally looked into Jungkook’s eyes. “I’m now your boyfriend. Your Alpha. And you are my omega.”
Taehyung kissed him again and Jungkook threw all composure to the wind as he kissed him back, just as desperate. They must have kissed for hours, but it felt so little because it was heavenly. It was

Jungkook’s own heaven.

And that, was that.

The public declaration of their relationship came soon after, receiving by an uproar at SNU. Despite being attached to the hip for the past 3 months, the news of Taehyung kissing Jungkook square on the mouth in the middle of the cafeteria spread like wildfire, the news having reached their friends before they even had a chance to tell them.

Jimin, Hoseok and Yoongi were none too surprised to find the couple locked together giggling and being nauseating in the corner of the seating area and let out twin sighs of exasperation as they eyed the sickeningly sweet couple.

“I can’t believe this is going to be my view for the rest of the semester.” Jimin grumbled, glaring at the couple who ignored them.

“Tell me about it.” Hoseok huffed. “I’m happy for them, but God. Taehyung! Stop stinking up the place!”

Jungkook pouted at Hoseok. “But I love his scent. It’s so sweet.”

“You’re sweeter.” Taehyung whispered in his ear; eyes filled with adoration that hadn’t even spared their friends a single glance.

Jungkook giggled, smacking Taehyung lightly but burrowing closer into him.

Yoongi stabbed his food. “I’m going to stab my eyes. This is disgusting.”

A month later, Taehyung decided they should all meet up with his brothers.

“Wait, Kim Seokjin and Kim Namjoon are your cousins?” Jungkook gaped, perched on Taehyung’s lap as they discussed the meeting.

“Yeah. They’re closer than blood, honestly. But for some reason they don’t like each other much, but the three of us have always been as thick as thieves, as they say.”

Jungkook nodded, trying to comprehend that Kim Seokjin, the national television icon, but his boyfriend’s brother. Jungkook used to have the biggest celebrity crush on him growing up, and still loved him tremendously. Taehyung came first though, obviously.

Yoongi, seated on the couch next to them, snorted. Hoseok giggled and Jimin ignored them, focusing on his assignment.

“Taehyung-ah, I think you should reconsider your plan.” Yoongi said, smiling evilly at Jungkook who glared at him, begging him not to say anything silently.

Taehyung looked at him confused “Huh? Hyung why?”

Yoongi’s grin widened. “You don’t know?”

“Know what?” Taehyung asked, even more confused.

“Hyung -” Jungkook tried to interject, panicking.

“Jungkookie here has the biggest celebrity crush on Kim Seokjin.” Yoongi declared, laughing.

Taehyung’s eyes widened, his stare shifting to Jungkook. “You like Seokjin hyung?”

“It’s a celebrity crush! It’s not a big deal!” Jungkook sent a glare at Yoongi, who continued to cackle.

“No way. I have to cancel this, there’s no way I’m losing my baby to Jin Hyung-“

“Tae no-“

“- he’s even more handsome in real life, and you said you liked me first because of how handsome I am so -“

“Hyung! Stop-“ Jungkook was mortified. Yoongi and Hoseok laughed, and Jimin let out a small smirk. Jungkook glared at all three of them, meanies.

“- oh my god, I can’t lose my baby-“

“Hyung!” Jungkook grabbed Taehyung’s face into his hands, squishing his cheeks to stop his rant, leaning in to make sure Tae focused on him. “Stop! I had a teensy, little celebrity crush on him! I love you! It’s not the same, please stop. No matter what he looks like or whatever, I’ll still always love you more, okay!”

There was silence for a few seconds. Jungkook kept looking at Taehyung, waiting for a response.

“You…you love me?” Taehyung spoke softly.

Jungkook froze. He hadn’t meant to say that. He just wanted to reassure Tae, so it just came out. It was too fast, too fast for a 1-month long relationship-

“Y-yeah.” Jungkook croaked out. “I love you, Tae.”

There was another silence. This time is was broken by a large rush of air as Taehyung grabbed Jungkook, twisting their bodies so Jungkook landed on the sofa with a squeal, Taehyung hovering above him.

“I love you too, baby.” Taehyung said softly, and immediately began kissing him all over his face. Forehead, nose, cheeks. Jungkook felt light-headed at the immense warmth and love and petrichor over him, his omega beaming for joy.

3 pillows were thrown at them at once.

“Stop being grossly in love in front of us!”

Meeting Namjoon and Seokjin was a nerve-wracking experience for Jungkook. Not only were they both incredible individuals, but they were a few of the most important members of Taehyung’s family. He had to be like by them. He had to impress them.

A hand squeezed his own.

“You okay, baby?” Taehyung murmured, worriedly looking over at the omega.

Jungkook smiled at him weakly. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

A hand clapped over his shoulder. “Let’s go in then, pup. The quicker we’re in, the less time you sit in your nerves.”

Jungkook would beg to differ, but he had no time to retort as Yoongi swung open the door to the private seating area in the wealthiest restaurant in Seoul.

Two men, seated as far apart as they could, both rose to greet the newcomers. Jungkook recognised Seokjin immediately. Taehyung hadn’t been wrong; the actor was even more handsome in person. The other man, Namjoon, was no less. The tall dark-haired man had an aura that commanded attention, and his face card was just as awe-inspiring as the rest of the Kims.

As greetings transpired, both men turned to Jungkook simultaneously.

“So, you must be Jungkook.” Seokjin loudly stated grinning. “You are even cuter than Taehyungie described.” He winked.

Jungkook blushed hard, thanking him profusely, and gingerly shaking the outstretched hand.

“Hyung! Don’t flirt with my boyfriend. He already has a celebrity crush on you, don’t you dare steal my baby!” Taehyung loudly exclaimed, gathering Jungkook in his arms and glaring at Seokjin.

Seokjin looked surprised, but then quickly recovered, his smile widening. “Really? A cute boy like you is a fan of mine? My my, maybe I should steal you away…”

Jungkook blushed and smiled slightly and pulled Taehyung to him, who was hurling curses at his hyung. Namjoon rolled his eyes, then stepped up towards the couple.

“Hi Jungkook, I’m Namjoon. It’s so very nice to put a face to the countless stories.”

Jungkook agreed, smiling and shaking his hand. His nerves calmed as the dinner went on, all of the hyungs getting along tremendously well. Jungkook laughed and had the best time of his life. He really didn’t think it could get better than this.
